Nightmare guest! He WAS trespassing! Guest booked a TENT on my property and let himself into my cottage rental (the previous guests had left it unlocked) and it had not even been cleaned for the next guest and this guest, Eric, let himself into the cottage. When I arrived at the property, the cottage rental was supposed to be vacant that evening and instead I found Eric smoking marijuana inside my cottage rental and informed him he was not supposed to be there and showed him clearly his reservation was for the tent. Despite this intrusion, I allowed Eric to remain in the cottage for the rest of the evening and repeatedly reminded him that I needed him to checkout promptly at checkout time the following day as his unannounced and unexpected presence delayed the Covid-19 cleaning protocols. The next day at checkout, he continued smoking marijuana inside the cottage and a half an hour past checkout time, he had made no effort to checkout. He did not have a car and had not contacted a rideshare company. Unfortunately, this guest was forced to leave after multiple attempts to politely request that he checkout. My staff immediately locked the cottage (he did not have the code as it was not his correct rental). He returned to the rental 15 minutes later and tried to reenter the cottage AFTER he was forced off the property and asked not to return. Following his departure, he sent multiple messages saying he left behind his charger and dice. His messages became very strange as he claimed he was a political activist and was being investigated by the United States government. These messages went on for about 24 hours after he checked out and he did report that he found the items he thought he had left behind on his person. This guest was upgraded from the tent to the cottage at no additional charge. He repaid that kindness with this ridiculous review. He brought drugs onto the property and was high his entire stay. Rarely have we ever experienced a guest behave this way.
