Lovely hotel very close to station. Rooms are spacious. Great varied breakfast and I had a lovely evening meal. Hotel was very near to the Botanical Gardens and the city centre is walkable

It lacked expected extras ....no bath mats no tablets of soap, no fresh milk tho there was a frig in bedroom, no towel rail, dinner menu never changed, cold plates for hot breakfasts ..so many little things that disappointed.
However, all the staff were excellent
The size of rooms were really good. Bed was very comfy. Parking was the only issue. The close car park was closed and the next closest car park was 20 mins away. Apart from that it was a very good stay.

The hotel was very hot - with huge solar gain from bedroom windows but very little of the window opening. I suggest the cleaners of the rooms leave the curtains closed over the windows- in order to minimise the heat from solar gain in the bedrooms.
Otherwise - a very pleasant stay and great staff.

Conveniently located hotel right by Cambridge train station. Little bit of a walk into town, but that was expected. Modern furnishings and probably the biggest comfiest bed I’ve slept in. Lovely bathroom as well. Friendly staff.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Clayton Hotel, perfect location for exploring the beautiful city of Cambridge. The room was spacious and decorated to a high standard and the staff were very friendly and professional.
Small troubles: Toothbrushes, slippers and TV remote were not in the room initially, but provided after I asked; I don't llike the green metal tissue box in the toilet, it has been there for many years I believe, doesn't quit fit the room style.

Much better than the London one I recently visited
Good: Very clean and looked new; Room configuration was reasonable; Didn't have to ask for toothbrushes. Not So Good: It seemed easy to hear the sounds outside the room door; The breakfast was meidocre for the price.

Normally I love the Clayton hotel in Cambridge and visit often when travelling for work. This trip was really poor!
The room when I arrived was freezing and I couldn’t get the heating to switch on, plus the tv had cables hanging down and there was no remote. I phoned reception and waited 30 mins for someone to come and ‘check the room’ and that was only because I went down to reception to chase. He did manage to resolve all the issues but the wait time in a freezing room wasn’t ideal.
When I went for a shower I noticed black hairs all along the shower tray (I am blonde) - it clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly.
When I was leaving the hotel to catch a train to airport in the morning I couldn’t get out of the hotel. Only one door was working and it was jammed shut. The button wouldn’t open it. I tried to find someone to help but there was nobody around, it was before 7am. I tried calling the hotel from my mobile and nobody answered - I was becoming really concerned I would miss my flight. Eventually, I found a phone in the reception and managed to get a hold of a young man. His response was just that ‘it was a bit sticky’. The door was totally jammed and wouldn’t open and I was trapped in the hotel. It wasn’t a pleasant experience.
Not a great stay unfortunately, in what is normally a lovely hotel.

Comfiest hotel bed I’ve ever stayed in! Great stay, lovely rooms, good facilities and pleasant staff. Hotel went the extra mile to make my fiancée’s birthday special, thank you.
Beautiful hotel with lovely service. The room itself was huge with enough space for three if us. Beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was expensive considering the portions but enjoyable nevertheless. I am looking forward to my next visit as we would definitely stay here again. 👌👌👌👍
We were 2 couples with rooms nextdoor which was great, unfortunately the first thing we saw when we went up to our rooms were dirty cups and glasses (outside both rooms!) from previous guests. On our way out I told reception and she apologised saying housekeeping would take them away. Unfortunately on ou return that evening there was still a dirty cup outside my room, there was absolutely no excuse for this si ce the dirrty glasses from nextdoor had gone! This is nothing short of inadequate and quite frankly is really poor service - when i told reception o
checking out the dirty cup from previous guests was still there I was told they are shirt staffed!!! This was clearly not true and NOT the reason, since somebody had been uk to remove my friends dirty belongings from previous guests..I think for a hotel of this quality people should care more about their customers and their experience, which is the reason i have taken my own time to complete this feedback as it most definitely not good enough!! Such a shame because our room was very comfortable but i cant overlook the inadequacy or lack of care when something is reported.
My first room was freezing and I couldn’t adjust the temperature. Shampoo, conditioner and bar soap not supplied, so bring your own unless you can use liquid hand soap for everything. Breakfast was amazing. Just down the block from the train station.
Staff at every level were professional, welcoming and extremely helpful. Great location, just a five-minute walk from the train station.

The Clayton is our favourite hotel, the staff never disappoint always friendly and very approachable. Over a year ago I proposed to my girlfriend there. And booking again to go on our honeymoon the staff went above and beyond, upgrading our room which made out stay 100 times better. I would strongly recommend the Clayton for any occasion it's 10 out of 10.
