What a wonderful place to stay! The lodge we stayed in was perfectly suited to us. Loved the veranda and the table and chairs so we could sit outside in the evening with a view across the lawn and to the trees.
Breakfast was a feast - only disappointment was that we were only there for one night. We plan to return and stay for longer next time.
Restaurant is excellent and has really great steaks.

Poor customer service
On arrival had a small issue which was met with a rude and blunt response demonstrating shoddy customer service
I was looked up and down by the manger and immediately informed I had to pay a cost holding on the room, when asked why , simply told to google it as this is policy
Never have I been spoke to line this and honestly I held back and remained professional unlike these two I met
Shocking service
Shower poor
Toilet took seceral flushes after using
WiFi absolutely shocking slow when I tested on google speed test and unable to carry out work
It’s a Christmas card, looks nice but nothing inside
Be warned

Dear MartinThank you for your feedback. But just as a clarification, on arrival you was welcomed and on check-in you was asked to provide a card for pre-authorisation which is a common hotel policy. Your answer was that you stay in hotels all the time and that you never have to provide a pre-authorisation. You where defensive straight away. You was asked if you would like to book in for breakfast as you had booked a room only rate and then you went into argument that you had booked with breakfast. Even after those 2 events we informed you that we had upgraded you to a large double from a standard double, and you was welcome to book breakfast if you choose too, however there was no appreciation from you. Your back was up and like the entire events were our fault, even though the booking was made by you via hotels.com where our polices are displayed.
We stayed at this property as it is nearby family who we were visiting. The hotel is beautiful and well presented, our two rooms were comfortable and had everything needed for a stay. We enjoyed the character and lovely features of the hotel. The two staff members we met were both very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in the quiet dining area and we both enjoyed our meals. Easy to find and parking was easy too. Will definitely be booking again - many thanks 😊
Very nice spacy room with big bathroom and large bed.
Lovely lounge and dining room. We were lucky to have been able to get a table for 6.45pm as the restaurant was fully booked on that Monday. The food were big portions and was very delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
I stayed in one of the log cabins, spacious room, comfy bed, it rained hard all night and the noise of the rain hitting the roof was very soothing
Would book this hotel/log cabin again

Disappointed
The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was nice. The grounds were lovely and the exterior of the building is beautiful but the interior has been left to deteriorate. Decor feels old and unloved. We rented a garden cabin. The door was battered, the carpet stained. The whole place feels tired. It is a shame as it has great potential but we feel the hotel should not be charging full price until it has undergone a refurbishment and refresh. We were disappointed with the state of the room and dining room.
The Grange is a delightful hotel, converted from a period property, and offers excellent service with countryside location. The rooms were very clean and in good order, together with the facilities and service.
A peaceful and relaxing environment which I would thoroughly recommend.

Limited space in bathroom
The bathroom area and shower was extremely small & very limited space.
We stayed one night 25th June 2023 and it was perfect. We stayed in a cabin and the bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. The dinner that evening was amazing … can’t fault any of it!
Comfy, quite & menu range is good. Looking out onto the back lawned area is very nice if you time it right for pleasant weather. Although you are target practice for the numerous pigeons flying around!!! Wear a Hat😂
Food great, service of food/drink was spot on. Just lacking on the welcome side - felt it was more a hinderance we had arrived at 6pm - plus refusal to print out a hotels receipt upon departure. (yes i can log on to the web and download, just never had that issue before with a point blank refusal).
Nothing has put us off - we would use this as a business stop over again.
4 out of 5 👍
Beautiful hotel in a lovely setting. Very quiet. Check that bar/restaurant are open, should you want to use them, although the village does have a couple of pubs.

Do not book the economy room, terrible. Everything else was fine, the room however did not feel part of the main hotel rather a cheap extension later added. I booked last min and would not stay in the room again.

Thank you so much for your review Sandip. We are sorry that we did not meet your expectations. You booked online, for 2 adults, and chose what we classify as a small double. These are indeed the smallest rooms in our building. You decided to bring a large dog and did not inform us that you would be doing so. Had you called us we would have gladly advised you of an appropriate sized and suitable room for your requirements. We do not accept pets in every room, so it is best to liaise directly with the hotel for any special requirements such as pets, disabilities, and so forth. The room was in the main building and is part of the original building since 1895 and was not an extension. The hotel has small double rooms and are sold as the most cost effective rooms. But we also have standard doubles, large doubles, junior suites, log cabins and finally a suite. Our large doubles, junior suites and suite offer separate seating area, superking sized beds. Our log cabin rooms are the most suitable rooms for pets, but we must be notified in advance of your intention to bring a pet. We can of course refuse guests with pets as they can distract other guests and we do have house rules.Unfortunately you do not say what you felt was cheap or terrible. The hotel, including the room you stayed in has had a recent refurbishment. You did not mention at any point during the course of your stay that you were unhappy with your room, and had this been made aware to a member of staff we could have advised you accordingly. We note that you left without paying your food and drink bill and didn't call us back for payment even though we attempted to call you.
This is one of the best breakfast's I've had in a long time, fresh local ingredients and a great service. Unfortunately, the room was in a tired state. The mattress was beyond its sell by date and the bathroom had a plethora of plumbing woes that were so many that it was comical. For some reason we were in an annexed building and not in the main house, although to be fair to the owner, they did offer this to me the days before the booking, but did not mention it upon check-in. Could be a lovely place with a bit of TLC as this is a stunning building.
Short and sweet. Room was clean and tidy, felt like an inconvenience while checking in. It did the job, won't be back.

Nice setting, very quiet
Nice pleasant setting, hotel could do with a bit of updating inside, but beds were comfy and there we no issues with anything, very quiet and no late bar which was a bit disappointing, other than that it was fine.
Great hotel for the settings and the peace and quite but you need transport as there is only a garage down the road so its about ha room we stayed in need a shelf putting for 4 miles back into bury, Pluss there is 20 pounds authorisation fee to be paid. The room we stayed in needs a shelf putting up for wash bag and the hotel needs to spend money on repairs to the property.
shocking wi-fi in the bedroom (10), even in the public spaces.
Went to get a beer from the bar at 10.35pm as I had been previously working in my room, but it was shut early!
Overall clean, but bedrooms are dated, breakfast was good, bar meal was good.
Ok stay, but could have been better.
