a budget choice
There is no air conditioning in the room and the pillow makes me a bit hot. Everytime you go out, you need to leave the key at the reception desk. For the rest service, it is super good.

Great value, close to amenities:)
Great value for money, just round the corner from trendy shops, vintage cafes and happy hour bars. Plenty of things to do around and only a 10 minute walk to the ‘centre’ streets of Budapest. Rooms are standard hostels bunkbeds but the curtains over each side give a little more privacy, good for blocking out noise, if any, too :)

There were 12 beds and one person was only able to shower at a time?? When I first checked in nobody stuck to their bunks and had to move someone’s belongings off the bed I was assigned and reception didn’t do much about it. Additionally the bed creaked ever tiny movement. I was on the ground floor so you could smell smoke constantly and loud music. There was no aircon and the room was so hot it was unbearable. Would not come back. Only positive was the size of the lockers and that each bed had a socket and light.

I loved this hostel, I’ve always heard about how hostels are gross and messy, but not this, the staff are amazing and attentive, the room is pleasant and tidy, I had my own lock to put my things, the bathroom is clean, and everything is close, I could do my activities on foot, the only thing is that is really hot during the day, but I didn’t care because I was going out haha

Highly Recommended
This hostel/hotel is fantastic, and I am happy to recommend it to others visiting Budapest. I booked a private room, although dormitory accommodation is also available. My room was also ensuite. Breakfast is also available at 4 Euros (1200 HUF) per day. The place is clean, but not surgically clean like in a much pricier hotel, making for a more everyday/homely experience. The staff speak excellent English and nothing is too much trouble for them. They allowed me to check in 15-20 minutes early and gave me advice about a walking tour (which I can also highly recommend early on in your stay). Reception is open 24 hours and there you are free to come and go at any time of the day or night. The area is within walking distance of many of the tourist attractions (if you are a keen walker like me), or the metro station is about 10 minutes walk. Bus 100E to/from the Airport stops at the Deak Plaza, approximately 15-20 minutes walk away. The street itself was quiet during the week, but within very easy walking distance of ruin bars and clubs.

Nice hotel/hostel, all staff were friendly and helpful, convenient location, within a short 10mins walking distance to main shopping/bar area. Transport links are very close aswell. My only issue/downside - very minor - on the hostel is that the pillows are quiet flat it feels like a need another one and they could give a towel to put down on the bathroom floor as it can get a bit wet from the shower

Decent private rooms with private shower/w.c for a hostel, but a nice apartment nearby that I moved to later on is much nicer and cheaper. very clean. No fan or ac., so hot and humid in June already. Very nice staff, breakfast not included in the price. Great location. 24 hours reception.

Marco Polo Hostel Budupest
Booked a 12 Dorms (Bunk Bed) at Marco Polo Hostel. Was told that at time of booking that I will be placed with another female in the same cubicle but when I reached there, I did not realised that I was put with a male until the next morning. He was on the upper desk and I arrived late and he was asleep. I did not complained about it as he seems like a decent guy - however, I would appreciate being told. The guest kitchen was disgusting ie the kettle has a missing cover (eventually turned up!!) and the coil was rusty. We did asked for a new kettle but the receptionist said that if we want hot water, he is happy to provide us at the reception. Personally, I do not think this is practical. Also it was noisy throughout the night up to 2 to 3am - can hear noises from either outside our room or downstairs.

We wrote that it is possible "upon avaibility", sorry if we were not concrete enough. Super valurable hostel
Staff are so nice, always have a pleasure smile. Inside the room they have dividers and curtains for each two beds so you will feel private and comfy. And everywhere are quite clean.

Excellent value for money
An excellent, value for money hostel. Felt very safe. A hostel, but one that seems to attract a more mature clientele. I stayed in a 12 bed dorm (Monday through Friday, so under-occupied and very quiet). There are a few small niggles: creaky bed, stained privacy curtain, rusty shower rail. However, for the price I paid, this was the perfect place to stay as a solo traveler. I just needed somewhere to sleep and freshen up. The location, just off of Dohany Street (a couple hundred meters from the synagogue and many wonderful kosher (and non-) eateries, makes it n ideal place to stay if you want to experience the Jewish district. Ideal access to the very efficient public transport, within easy walking distance of all major 'sights', too. I cannot recommend this place enough if you are 1) on a budget, 2) just looking for somewhere to sleep, with no frills.

it was mainly old people. A "nice" old lady was yelling that the fascists are after her which is not a great thing that you wanna hear when you get to the hostel at 9pm besides this, it looks like an 80's USA room, which I found quite pleasing, if the elderly wouldn't had snored my sleep away.

it is central, it is of a very good value, staff is polite and friendly, it is clean so in a way you know what to expect! not very comfortable beds, old worn out towels etc. and all the things you expect in a cheep hostel. My only advice is the noise - make sure you have earplugs with you!

It's not a bad hostel, but if you want to sleep in the 12-person room, definitely take an eye mask and ear plugs! Staff were mostly friendly, and it helps that there's a bathroom in the room.

A NIGHTMARE!
Terrible experience, rooms in bad condition, stinky, uncomfortable beds, no ventilation and very noisy after the first night we ran away! Not recommended at all. Friendly staff and good location, that's it!

Good little hostel
Warm building so thin duvet didn't matter, pillows lacked a bit and the shower was hand held but for a hostel it was good, the room wasn't fancy but that's reflected in the price. Situated ideally for those wanting to explore the heart of the city. Photos on their website are pretty faithful.

Weather very mild and bright. Plenty of eatery's close to hotel. Getting about is easy on public transport. Most attraction pretty compact. Not an expensive city to visit.
