Lovely hotel with pleasant staff. Our room was a great size with a bathroom that had a deep bath and a walk in shower. It was all very clean. There was air conditioning in the room that had to work hard as it was nearly 30° and it it did a great job! There were plenty of spaces in the car park although there was a parking charge. Took us about 10 nins to walk into the main area of Chester. We didn't eat in the hotel so unable to comment on the food although we noticed the dining room looked nice. Would definitely stay again.

First room dirty, moved and other room better but not perfect. Staff solved problem well. Shame, nice hotel let down by not keeping on top of housekeeping across hotel and room decor weird. Bathroom was worse, lots of mouldy crevices in bathroom.

Staff are great but slow check in. Really hot in Chester right now and the hotel has no actual AC in the building but thankfully the room AC was good if overly complicated. Room size is good, bathroom adequate. One tiny lift for the whole hotel with most people lugging heavy cases up the stairs in frustration at the lift situation. The whole place is a bit worn and it’s at the opposite end of town where you want to be. Parking is nearby but not sign posted at all . I parked in some weird QR code lot at first thinking is was the one that serves the hotel ( which is a public lot) . I wouldn’t stay here again.

Can't comment on the food/breakfast as I didn't have it but it is a very good hotel, clean and comfortable room, hot shower and all at a great price, couldn't have asked for better and would happily stay here again if and when I'm back in Chester. Only thing I'd say is my ironing board was a bit stiff to put up but considering other hotels charge you a lot more for the privilege of having in your room, it won't affect the score.

Great location by the train station and close to the city centre. Staff were professional and friendly. Many unique features to the hotel like the centre garden, old hotel and the royalty themed King wing. Some of the areas are dated and starting to wear. Colours a bit loud, but a good value and location.

The staff are a mix of fabulous and awful - some were so helpful and efficient and could not do enough but others were rather rude and snappy. The whole place needs a bit of TLC - wonderful beautiful building with some fabulous public rooms, statues and artwork but needs a good clean for example cobwebs and dust everywhere, chipped and peeling paint. The outside area is filthy - get a jetwash and clean it down - cushions on outside furniture yuck. The outside area in the second building near the function room had about 20 bags of dog poo in a bird bath and against a wall - no idea why but bit off putting to sit near. Bed was really comfortable and clean but lots cobwebs around windows and in wardrobe, coffee stains down the wall, two bulbs out in room, paper peeling off wall in big area. Breakfast was okay - very clean and tidy and cooked food looked great - the other areas ie fruit, cereals and bread/pastries not so great. Food from bar and restaurant was lovely and drinks were great - bar area really nice and great staff. This place could be fabulous but the manager/owners need to go and stay like a guest to see the issues - go round the hotel with a customer's eye and silly faults could be fixed. I would not stay here again as there are so many other options in Chester - real shame would love to see this hotel at its best.

Stayed for the Bank Holiday weekend over Easter, room was amazing, perfect for the 3 of us (double family room, 2 double beds) was more like a suite. Decent choice at breakfast and managed to keep a four year old fed who one moments wants sausages then the next doesn't like them! Staff we interacted with were friendly.

We stayed in room 1706 in the new part,Wonderful bathroom we had a bath and a shower. Room was clean and to our taste. The hotel bar was welcoming and reasonable prices for drinks. We were with friends so ate in the restaurant. We had some starters and main courses and everyone really enjoyed the food. Breakfast was delicious and because the plates were kept hot and food was replenished I was still hot.Hotel was close to every thing but far away from the outside noise. Staff were brilliant We would definitely return.

The hotel is lovely and clean, the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much for them. The hotel is a bit dated. The towel rail is never switched on, but it didn’t ruin the stay. The food is excellent and not too expensive. I would definitely stay again.
