Reasonable
Nice hotel, close to subway and bud stations, close to acropolis. Great staff. Nice included breakfast. Clean rooms, kind of small but good for the price.

King Jason hotel - Athens
Hotel King Jason is in a very destitute and deprived location even though in a central part of Athens. The description and photographs of the hotel are not accurate and the standards of the Hotel are very very basic. The area is very unsafe, with a high crime rate, serious social issues and a blatant drugs problem. Taxi drivers will charge you more in fares as they know it is in a less desirable area and will also add an additional charge to pick you up from the hotel.

Below three stars
First of all, the location is awful. The Metaxhourghio neighborhood in which the hotel is located, is populated by immigrants, junkies and drunks amongst the apparently homeless Athenians. The overall condition of the neighborhood is even more deteriorated than rest of the Athens (excluding the few richer or tourist-oriented neighborhoods). While walking around there, you can witness the glorious sight of random needle-in-arm junkie trying to find the last uninjected spot on their bodies. Whilst feeling the crunch of a crushing used needles under your soles. The room we reserved from King Jason was nothing like we saw in pictures, and the various differences made us think that the pictures were not taken in the same hotel at all. Although it was pretty clean and bug free. Beds were also like stone slabs. Also the noise from outside made sleeping impossible. Few pointers that were not like advertised: - there was no working wireless internet connection anywhere - the view to Acropolis was a joke (one could spot a glimpse of the hill from the balcony, behind other buildings) - breakfast was tasteless or bad tasting (excluding olives and feta...) -although it was off-season, there hotels cafeteria/bar was never open - it didnt have the advertised "roof top restaurant" If youre planning to visit Athens, avoid this neighborhood like plague.

King Jason - Nice Hotel, bad area
I booked this room because it looked close to the main areas of Athens and to the metro station. however, the neighborhood was bad! It seemed dangerous during the day even. We finished our day near monastrinaki station around 11pm and tried to find a cab from there to our hotel, but no cab drivers even knew of the hotel! the hotel itself was nice and relatively clean. but again, the moment you step outside you feel like you're gonna get jumped!

Roach hotel
People I'm sorry to write this about this hotel but this hotel is surrounded by a bunch of people doing drugs, needles stuck in there arm walking around police driving by and not doing nothing about. What of kind hotel is build in the worst part of Athena, please what ever you do stay out of this hotel and the city of ommina, this made Greece not what I thought Greece was so sad. No wifi , one minute it's working the next minute it's not working and the wifi only works in the lobby not in your room. The people that work there always trying to sell you something, like there is tour buses and other things. The tv in the room the size of a basketball no balcony , bed sheets had writing or red dye on them , hair stuck on the head rest from other people. What they show in the pictures totally different from you get . I would not stay here if you paid me to stay there.

The area
You get what you pay for. The hotel is basic, if I had paid more than fifty euros, definitely would have felt ripped off. The internet connection kept failing. Which made it difficult to arrange onward travel plans. The night staff had basic english. Although the restaurant and bar had close. He kindly ordered me a pizza. I suggest, this is because the area is just so bad. It made the Bronx in New York look like Disney Land. It was scary. Even during the day when I went to book a ferry ticket, I felt cautious. The area has a huge problem with illegal immegrents from many nationalities and a big drug problem. I got the impression from speaking to taxi drivers, that the city officials are embarrassed by letting things get out of control. As it is having financial implications on business in the area. Tourist are targets and as one guy said to me "these people don't care about life, they carrie knife " Scary. This is not the indictment of Hotel King Jason. But unfortunately, the circumstance attached to the location. If you are staying in Athens for just one or two nights, then it will suffice. If on the other hand like the South African guy I meet in reception. Who had booked and paid twelve nights. You might think long and hard about cutting your loss and moving to another hotel, in a safer area.

Fantastic for the price
The Hotel King Jason is a very nice hotel for the reasonable price I paid. Reception were very welcoming and helpful; when I had a problem with the TV they investigated straight away. It turned out that it was working OK - the only drawback is that there was no red dot to show 'standby' so I wasn't sure if it was off entirely or on standby. The area is not the best, but I never found it threatening, and it is convenient for Larisa railway station, where I arrived into (10 mins on foot), and also only about 15 mins' walk to the bars and restaurants of Syntagma Square. The room was a good size and had quiet and efficient air-con, and also a small balcony with views over the city sprawl. I would definitely stay here again.
