Excellent friendly staff! This was our first stop on a tour of Greece and coming straight from the airport - it was great to arrive at a nice clean and cool room. It is a quick 7 min walk to the national museum of archeology where you can pick up the hop on hop off bus. For our 2 night stay in Athens it was perfect. A delightful bakery at the bottom of the street with fresh treats and sandwiches, refreshing coffee and super friendly staff - it made us feel so welcome to a new country for our family holiday! The restaurant down the steps in a converted primary school was so picturesque, friendly staff and amazing first meal in Greece and we were off to a great start!

Pleasant, clean, and pretty quiet
I stayed in a single room. It was pleasant, clean, and pretty quiet. I could see the Acropolis from the window in the distance. There is an elevator at the property. I paid 7 Euros for breakfast and it was really good. Lots of choice from the buffet, I would certainly recommend. Bathroom a little on the small side but all else was good.

It is located quite far from the city center .Also the room is very okay .The property is located quite up the hill at a very inconvenient location.The staff was quite warm and helpful. Wouldn't recommend this .

Good Hotel with some reservations
A very reasonable hotel, clean and secure in a run down part of the city. Parking was dreadful and the one way systems made the simplest journey cumbersome. I suggest this hotel would be ideal if you were without a car, perhaps that may be true for the whole of Athens. Staff friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet fine at 7 Euro. Close proximity to some very good eating places

We missed our first night at the hotel, due to the weather and ferry cancellations, but the staff was able to hold our reservation. To compensate they offered us free breakfast, which I thought was really nice. It is a bit hard to get to on foot, but it's a beautiful hotel. We had a great experience. The room was clean and seems recently remodeled, and it was very comfortable with a great view from the balcony. We were happily surprised that there was farmer's market on the next street over all day Saturday, and great restaurants and cafes within walking distance. It was ~30 min walk to the Acropolis. We enjoyed our 1 night stay, and were sad we didn't get to stay longer (darn weather!).

It is very nice place, nice clean room, the only thing was that it might be hard for guys to fit into the shower in this specific room but anything else we very very happy about.It is 20ish min walk to the monastiraki and the city center and we like to walk so location was good as well.

Not recommend at all.
If I ever knew that I had to climb up a slope or walked up 60 steps to reach this hotel, I would never pick this place. Poor location & neighbourhood, full of homeless people and some were living in the same slope and you could hear noisy music & dog kept barking at night. We had the quadruple room with balcony and there two beds in the attic of which the air con did not reach that area. It was so stuffy up there & 2 of us ended up having headache due to poor air circulation. When this issue was raised to their staff, she said there had never been any complaints before & she could do nothing. The bathroom was not the same shown on the pictures, of course much worse.

The surrouding is not very nice...it has nothing around which is a big disadvantage. If ever you go to the centre, bring the hotel card with you ( it has got dìrections on the back) because taxi drivers many taxi drivers do not even know the hotel.

Our stay was comfortable, with a great breakfast view and free coffee as well as wonderful rooms and bathrooms. The small feel and couple run hotel was a special way to experience Athens. The rooftop seating area was amazing. The only negative was the location, as it felt a little bit hard to get to and out of the way. Still not a bad walk to the city center however.

An absolutely fabulous hotel in a wonderful area
The hotel was amazing. It was spotlessly clean, and the people who ran the hotel were wonderfully hospitable. I felt very safe walking around the area at night, and, hands down, it is the best area in Athens if you like the artistic and non-touristy. The hotel was very affordable, too. I would stay here now any time I go to Athens.

We had a great stay at the Dryades - we stayed in the budget room and though it was small, it was clean and fine for our needs as we went out to eat. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Would stay again!

Main light wasnt working. We ended up being sent to hotel next door which is apparently part of the dryades as well (Orion) but the room wasnt great. As said the ceiling light was not working. Otherwise it was alright.

Great experience!
Located in neighborhood with loads of character, staying at this hotel was pleasant experience. The staff is terrific, especially the very knowledgeable and helpful Nikos. The breakfast was fabulous. If we ever come back to Athens, we will return to hotel.

Nice on the inside, great price
The welcome and help from the reception was great. The room was perfectly nice. There are lots of local restaurants that are very good. The only problem is the outside approach. It is very littered and full of grafitti and makes the whole area look bad. That being said, it seemed safe enough walking around, with university students and locals, and the room was just fine. It's a shame the locals litter and it's a shame the city doesn't do more to pick up trash.

Great location and staff!
If you are looking for a quiet hotel away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Athens, the Dryades/Orion isthe place for you. Very peaceful on the Strefi Hill (nice taverna there, open weekends mainly), and some of the staff have been there since we started going there over 40 years ago. It has had various upgrades over the year and is now very comfortable and always clean. More facilities than you would normally get at this class of hotel, The breakfast on the terrace, thanks to Joanna, is brilliant, with the best view in Athens!

Great hotel in a funky/ cool neighborhood
For me this place couldn't have been better. I loved the neighborhood. It's an alternative neighborhood with rock and roll record stores and bars, little cafes, book stores, obviously not a tourist area but everyone was friendly. Don't be put off by grittiness. I really enjoyed it and felt perfectly comfortable. There is a farmers market on the street below the hotel on Saturday. Several small but adequate grocery stores near by. It's about a ten minute walk to the nearest metro, once there you have access to the entire city. It is all up hill back to the hotel but because of this my room had a nice view of the city. I could see the Parthenon from my room and on a clear day the sea as well. For the price. I'm not sure you can beat this little hotel.

hospitable value hotel in charming Exarchia
While this hotel may not be for everyone, I found it to be ideal for my needs. Staying in Exarchia was an awesome experience. I loved the colorful neighborhood,(graffiti everywhere), and I felt safe enough walking around as a woman alone, (one should always you caution, of course). It was a great opportunity to stay where many tourist do not go, yet I could easily get to the metro and all of the tourist places easily. My room was rather small, but I had a view of the park and it was a great value. The hotel staff was friendly, extremely accommodating and helpful. There are many cheaper ways to get a breakfast, but I highly recommend the 6 euro breakfast on the rooftop. The view is amazing and you can eat like a king! Many other reviews complain about the hill, but how else do you not feel guilty about eating tons of feta cheese and drinking Greek wine?!? It was really not that bad, (and I carried my luggage). Overall, I had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel!

Nice room in a quiet location next to wooded park.
Our host, Dimitri, carried our heavy duffelbags like they weighed nothing at all down a stairway, through a locked gate to a sunny patio area where our room was. It was very tidy and clean with pictures on the walls, a small refridgerator and a coffee brewer with cups, saucers, spoons, sugar and teabags. The bathroom had a full shower and curtain although the shower fixture was different than others we had seen in Europe and hard to adjust and figure out at first. We did not yru the breakfast buffet but the menu looked extensive. We did take our dinner up to the Orion's cafeteria deck with the gorgeous view of the entire city and the Aropolice. The Orion also provided potable filtered water for drinking since the water in all the rooms and perhaps all of Athens, is not fit to drink.

Great little hotel
We had another hotel booked for Athens but after one night decided to leave because it was so bad. We then went to the Dryades Hotel and it was fantastic, really nice and helpful staff, a clean and pleasant room and really accessible to the city centre.

Staff was very friendly and accomodating, very willing to hold your baggage for hours after checkout. You can tell it's a family owned place...or at least has the feel of one. Breakfast is 6 euro, but sufficient, and with a nice view. Once I figured out where I was in relation to the city, it was easy to direct cabs, and while I didn't spend any time in the neighborhood, it seemed safe enough. Love the 24 hour a day check in, as my sister and i arrived at 3am (a week after I stayed there solo) as our ferry back from Santorini was delayed.

This hotel is a little bit out of the center of town, but it was a wonderful stay. The owners and all the staff was so welcoming and friendly, I would stay again. Free wifi, optional breakfast, very helpful staff. Our room was big. Tiny bathroom. But The view from our room of the Acropolis was unexpected. We could even see it from the bed. And the rooftop view was amazing. It's close the Lycabettus Hill and it is beautiful at night. Sitting up there eating gelato, which we got at a yummy place down the street, and seeing the lights of the city and Acropolis was amazing! The neighborhood seemed a bit scary, but it was wonderful. Walking around at night, I felt totally safe. And all the street cafés were full of life. It's about a 30 minute walk to Syntagma Square, which is a wonderful way to see part of the city. There is a bit of stairs back up to the hotel, but good exercise. Plus it I'd directly across from Stefi Park, which is lovely and the view from the top is worth the time. Yes, I want to thank everyone there for making our stay special.

Reception staff generally helpful with the exception of the overnight guy. Location is on the edge of the dodgier part of town but looks worse than it is; lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Half hour walk to the main historical sites. Great roof terrace with views over the city and towards the Acropolis. Room small but clean and functional. TV did not work but was fixed next day. Recommended as a clean low budget hotel.
