They didn’t want to give me a receipt, even though I paid for my stay directly. Also, for some reason, the cleaning lady threw away my toothbrush and razor, and she denied it later.

Great location.
Staff is very helpful and friendly, although not all trained well. Location wonderful. Business center (computer, printer) non-existent. Breakfast okay. Beds good. Building condition tired. Some plumbing issues. Reasonable value for money.

Tired hotel
After 2 nights, we had to find another hotel due to nasty chemical fumes that drifted around the corridors and entered our room. The staff responded by leaving an air freshener in the bathroom. The hotel refused to give us a refund for the remaining 4 nights!!

The Diplomat has my seal of approval!
I arrived early morning and for a percentage of my night rate, the room was made available at 6am. Friendly welcome, spacious rooms, excellent location, very fast wifi. I stayed there for a total of one week and had a standard and a junior suite, both very good rooms, but I liked more the standard as it had a better view and the heating system was much better (the suite was a bit too cold in the evenings). Some staff don't speak English which makes it hard even with basic requests like room service - just be patient and repeat the information a few times to make sure they got the order right. when breakfast was at the breakfast room in level 3 it was much better, with full continental and cooked items, but due to low occupancy sometimes they moved breakfast to the bar in ground floor and not all items were available. I wanted to do some tours in Kazakhstan and the travel agency the hotel recommended was great! The local hotels normally offer to help with the registration of foreign guests with the immigration, but they didn't offer me, and I only found out about that later. The immigration does not charge for this service but this hotel does, not really a nice thing to do considering there is no cost for the registration.

A warm and friendly refuge from the snow !
Very convenient for many of the main attractions of Astana. Welcoming staff and excellent food. (I stayed for 3 days half board with extensive buffet breakfast and lunch included). Close to two bus stops for services to all parts of the city and one of the main shopping centres was within easy walking distance. I would also thoroughly recommend the lobby bar with its relaxed atmosphere and talented pianist.

Good hotel in good location
Reasonably priced hotel in central location (near Bayterek tower) with spacious rooms and good service. Good choice of breakfast with made to order omelettes and good restaurants within the hotel. The fitness center and spa is actually a privately operated business located in a building right behind the hotel and to which hotel guests have complimentary access: I found it excellent. Good wifi in the rooms and lobby.

The room and hotel were fine, but I had a few problems. For one thing, when I checked out I learned that I would be charged an extra 50% for my first night because I had checked in early. I was not told there would be a charge for that during check-in. That was an unpleasant surprise. I had a few other issues as well. The first night the staff called me and woke me up at 1:00 am to say there was some sort of problem. When the guy knocked on me door, he realized they called the wrong person. And on the last night my room filled with thick smoke through the ventilation. I had assumed my room was non-smoking, but perhaps that was never clarified. If all that hadn't happened, it would have been fine. The room was nice, breakfast was decent, and the location is great.

Very good location, good for business
The hotel is clean and very convenient for business travelers, I would not recommend it for families. Beds are not comfy, the furniture is very simple, but practical.

VERY BAD SERVICE!!!
The worst experience I ever had in my life! I was proloning the stay everyday for the amount over 100 Eur a day & when I have asked for 1 tea bag to drink hot tea in a room in the evening- the receptionist has told me- it is not possible as we provide it only on the first day of arrival. When I have requested for the invoices & reference i have stayed in the hotel- they told me we do not provide it until I have called the manager to solve it.Moreover, during the morning breakfast, the waiter is pursuing you to ask for the room number when i was eating & did not let me enjoy my breakfast as if it was not paid by ordering the room by expedia.com & instead of solving the issue in a delicate manner, they argue and try to prove the opposite.

I arrived to Astana early in the morning long before the check-in time but had no problem to get in my room with additional pay and had an nice bath and nice sleep before my meeting.

Overall a great experience. Rooms are large and spacious. Great high speed internet (I was located on the 7th floor). Includes a full hot buffet breakfast (at request). Had a few issues with water leaks in the bathroom, but otherwise a great place to stay for the business traveler. The front desk speaks English and is very helpful in getting you from A to B via a taxi or the hotel shuttle. The location is great, very close to the business district of Astana.

Booked a stay at Diplomat Hotel in Astana based on its location and Hotels.com reviews. Stayed there for few nights on a business trip. The hotel was a disappointment. Location is quite OK, but getting in and out of the hotel parking was not. The furniture in the room was dated and bathroom had seen better days. The towel rack was about to fall off the wall and realized that as the daily new towel was never placed on the rack. No-one did anything about the rack though. No room service menu was available in the room and the daily water bottle water was provided, unless you ordered it from room service. Service at the lobby bar was the slowest and least professional I've seen in a long time.

Only 200 yrds from the Baiterek monument, excellent English-speaking staff and a very pleasant hotel all round. Breakfast was plentiful. The room was clean and very nicely presented.

Good hotel for stay on business
Location: close to everything including modern mall with Costa coffee shop, grocery store with all kinds of food beer and vines, food court with nice restaurants of many choices. Room: big, high, good free Wi-Fi, King size bed. In the Hotel: 24 hours bar, El Gaucho Argentinian restaurant. Free breakfast with big selection of everything. Service - friendly, they are trying.

Hotel at the center of Astana
The hotel is about 10 years old, and some of the window panels may not have been sealed properly and the room can be cold.. However, the hotel staff is very helpful in assisting us to change room and when we finally settled in the right room, it is quite comfortable. The location is excellent in the center location of downtown Astana.

Very nice hotel in a perfect location. Minutes away from town center, friendly staff. Big rooms, temperature controlled and lots of hot water! Negative, no wifi in the lobby or in the rooms. wifi available only on the 3rd floor.

I rather enjoyed my stay. It was very difficult to control the temperature in my room as the AC did not work, only the heater, so it was always hotter than desired. The hotel staff was very friendly and the hotel itself is located in a nice area of the city.

If you are looking for a hotel with a great view and within walking distance to most of the big attractions on the left bank then this is your hotel. Add to that clean rooms, good front desk service(almost perfect spoken English) and an overall friendly staff and it feels like quite a bargain. I only found one downside and depending on what brings you to Astana it could be quite bothersome. The wi-fi in the rooms is spotty at best, in order to establish a fair to good connection you basically need to be sitting right next to your door or on the vanity. There was no connectivity within the interior of the room. This was my second time at this hotel and I had that problem both times. Overall, I would highly recommend this place. The pros really outweigh the cons. Also the breakfast was good. But for dinner go out, lots of great places to eat near by.

Wifi does not work in rooms, only the lobby bar!!!
inappropriate for a business traveller - if you need to be connected. The phone did not work, the emergency or reception buttons on the room phone do not connect you to anything! you are supposed to know the secret dial number to connect to reception... I needed a doctor in the middle of the night and there was no place I could call anyone in the hotel, including other room numbers....

On a business trip, this hotel was great for my needs. Comfy beds and a good breakfast. Didn't have dinner in the hotel as it is in a good location to go out and eat elsewhere.
