The staff was the best and made my short stay a very pleasant one. The front desk manager Akalanka was one of the best. The tuk tuk driver the hotel arranged was also very professional.

Friendly staff with good sri Lankan food.
The staff was so friendly and willing to help all the time. During the first day two young boys were so fast with the breakfast serving but during the second day it was damn slow. But the food was so nice and the it had the real sri lankan flavor. The room was renovated in recent time the room is in a good condition.

Lovely staff but slightly tired hotel
We booked 2 rooms for the kids and us since they did not have a triple room during our stay. The rooms were spacious and relatively clean. However the bathrooms had problems. The sink didn't work in one room so we were moved to different rooms. The sink in one of the new rooms had a similar problem but we sorted that out with hand plunging and boiling water. The staff were very nice and helpful and we felt bad asking them to sort out various problems with the remote, A/C, etc. They did sort everything out for us quite quickly. Overall a functional family-friendly hotel with a good pool, a pretty good location, nice staff and nice food. This is a mid range hotel and I would assume one of the better ones in Anuradapura.

Started off on a bad note. Don’t expect to get the room you booked online .We were given a room with two single beds instead of the double deluxe .The staff said to bad that’s all we have even though we booked in advance . The solution just push them together . Very poor reception and service. Breakfast was very below par . The shower head fell and cut my husbands foot . Would not recommend booking on line as you do not get what you book.

It is located in a convenient location. Staff is friendly. They asked for my wife's ID too, probably because we are locals. Room is small, it has 2 single bets cant merged together. The terrible thing was AC went down in the night, seems chiller was switched off in the night. I didn't have a good sleep. The bathroom was bit outdated and stains on the commode. Garden and pool are wonderful. Food is good.

While the hotel itself was pretty good, they gave us a ground floor pool facing room which meant we could never open our curtains and let the sunlight in. Also, our phone was broken and so i had to go every time to the reception to get things done, even room service and housekeeping etc.

Excellent hotel to stay in Anuradhapura
Rajarata is an excellent hotel with good service from its staff. It is clean, comfortable and provides friendly atmosphere. I won't mind staying in the hotel if I have to visit Sri Lanka again in the near future. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone planning to visit Anuradhapura.

Hotel was excellent with helpful staff and good pool and breakfast. Sites to visit are distant from most places, but receptionist was able to arrange hire of a bicycle. This was a good way to get around but the heat was still a bit oppressive.

This is a very modern hotel with clean rooms and a good breakfast, but there were some annoying service problems. Firstly they gave us a room with 3 twins when we booked one with a double, so we complained and they moved us to a family room with a king. After an hour or so of chilling in the room, taking a shower, unpacking, the staff knocked on the door and asked us if we would move rooms because they just booked a family. They asked if it was ok — definitely not OK! But we obliged and moved to a double room. Why didn’t they just put us in the open double to begin with? Secondly, there were two steps leading down to the balcony and my wife fell down the steps and almost cracked her head open! What kind of balcony has stairs to it?! Ridiculous. Thirdly, the air conditioner, which looks highly advanced for Sri Lanka all built into the ceiling, was extremely confusing to operate and kept on turning off in the middle of the night and beeping, waking us up multiple times. A little instructions to understand the Chinese remote would have been helpful. We wanted to rent bikes but they werent available, but we only found this out after waiting at reception for 15 minutes. They need more front desk staff. Clean rooms, but the little annoyances take away from the rating.

We booked a standard room with a double bed and a twin bed through expedia... in the remarks i mentioned that a twin bed is not required as only 2 people will be there and hence a double bed is sufficient ...when we arrived at the hotel we were given a room with two seperate single beds apart.. when we inquired about this from the reception we were told that eventhogh you bookeed throug expedia we do not have rooms available currently and hence cannot support... THIS MADE US LOOSE FAITH ON EXPEDIA AS WHAT IS THE POINT OF PAYING MONEY IF YOU DO NOT GET WHAT YOU BOOKED THROUGH THE SITE...later on spoke to the manager and got the two single beds joined together and by putting a seperate sheet converted to look like a double bed.. this whole scenario cost us 4 hours of time.. we were only able to check in close to 5.30 pm... NEED TO ENSURE TO COMMUNICATE THE RIGHT VIEW TO THE CUSTOMER BEFORE ANY PAYMENT IS PROCEESED WITH

Okay stay
The hotel was newly renovated or renovating at the time of our visit. We had a great stay. Special thanks to Mr. Lal for showing us the room and for the welcome service. The breakfast buffet was okay and was finishing by 10 am. The rooms were clean but were missing blankets in beds. Also, the safe was not functioning properly in the morning due to battery low and we had to ask for assistance to open it but they provided assistance right away.

I stayed there only for one night and didn't have any chance to use the facilities there. The breakfast is great and the restaurant has a very nice pool side view. Overall, the hotel is clean and simple design.

Comfortable hotel, well-located.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also, the restaurant's buffet was excellent. My only complaint, and this is a minor one because it was a good break for me, was that the wifi internet and the cable TV were often unstable and not working at all. But, I have no trouble at all recommending this hotel, and would happily stay there again. The swimming pool is a perfect place to cool down after visiting the incredible Buddhist sites.

Friendly hotel
Very clean well run hotel with good service - the staff is lovely - friendly and helpful and courteous. The only drawback is the restaurant - unfortunately the food is only mediocre.

Pish not posh!
The service isn't horrible. Air conditioning doesn't work. The bed is uncomfortable. They forget to bring things you ask for and can't fix issues. Don't stay here. HORRIBLE
