The service is lacking - I had to call housekeeping everyday because item were not restocked in the room - towels , soap, water, coffee , Kleenex to name a few. Also I found the check out very bad - the clerk was rude and didn’t even ask how the stay was. The worst was the food - everything was bland and both myself and my daughter got food poisoning - the dinner buffet seemed to be the worst - lobster was served on our last day there and it was literally inedible - mushy texture and very off taste. The al cartes were somewhat better but portion size was extremely small . Drinks were horrible - nothing made with fresh juices - the only time in many trips to Mexico that I couldn’t even drink a Margarita. On the the plus side the hotel staff in general were very attentive and polite. Unfortunately I can not recommend this property and will never return.

Things we liked: Great beach with calm waters and decent snorkeling Pool options fit everyone's mood - quiet or lively The ability to access all 4 properties for variety Food selection - buffet excellent, good selection of a la cartes Drink selection good Great little coffee shop for made to order coffee drinks Staff very helpful and friendly Very clean and well maintained AC worked well in rooms Trolley system works well to get from place to place What we didn't like: Nothing open or running until 7 am - no food, coffee, trolley A la carte restaurants were hot and stuffy Distance from airport is far - 1 1/2 hours Overall the Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal was an excellent property and we would highly recommend

Pros - Great food at both the ala cartes & restaurants, great staff (great service & friendly), very clen, beach was great & well maintained, liked the adult only area & infinity pool Cons - There were almost no activities during the day (seemed like they were short activity staff), only 1 tiny swim up bar (and it was not in the adult pool), needed more available shade at the pools, did not like that you had to pay to go to half the evening shows, the bars seemed like they had almost no booze.

no housekeeping on multiple days even when we called to ask. phones didnt work, ac had terrible odor one day, we couldn't even use it. did not get supplies replenished. no toilet paper. some food was absolutely terrible, badgers were even running through it

I have NOTHING bad to say about this resort. The staff were absolutely AMAZING, super kind and friendly. They give the impression that they really do enjoy working there and being helpful to visitors. Everything was accessible through the app, from room service to luggage pick up. Unbeknownst to me I booked for a 2 queen bed room when in fact I wanted a king bed, the staff was super accommodating and actually upgraded us to the newer renovated room, which was stunning. The resort was clean, and relaxing, and the food was great! I would definitely return with my kids!

Check In: When we first arrived the room type we had booked was not available. Luis who assisted with our check in was able to move us the next day to a king size room. Our new room was great. Paloma and Mariana were the guest services staff in our building and they were always really helpful. Food: Buffet options at the adults only side (Katok) were inconsistent, we ended up walking to the main buffet for the last few days of our stay for both breakfast and lunch. A la carte dining - make sure to use the early check in options so that you can pre-book your reservations or else there will not be any available. We pre-booked all of our dinners in advance but wanted to change our last night reservation, it was difficult to find an available restaurant option. Pool: We stayed in the adults only pool for our entire trip. The pool was clean and bar service was good. We wish there had been a few more activities and music throughout the day. Beach: Was very beautiful at the adults only side. Each day the staff cleared the seaweed quickly and there was never any garbage in the sand. A lot of shades pergolas for us to sit under. It was our favourite part of the resort. Gym: I was very disappointed in the gym facilities at Akumal. They are very small and the spin bike that was available was rusted and not functioning properly. I only ended up working out one day of the trip because of this.

Loved the friendliness of the staff and the way the property was constantly being maintained. The lush grounds were gorgeous! Our building was older and lacked outlets and some amenities if the newer sections of the resort. Fridge was not very cold so drinks never got very chilled.

Akumal Luxery is my favorite all inclusive! I've stayed in many but what makes this the best is the service, service, service. Geovanni changed our room to be closer to the pool with an ocean view, Gabriel spent an hour helping change my bus tickets to the airport, Edmundo replaced a bathing suit that was damaged, Juan would be asking if we need anything everyday outside our room, everyday we would receive a phone call asking if we were happy and did we need anything. Everyone offered help with a smile. Besides that the food was delicious, unlimited sushi and sashimi every meal at the buffet, there were enough people but not too many, never had to wait for food or drinks, beautiful beach right near the pool, lost items were returned twice, there are places to run that are shaded and interesting because the resort is gigantic with trains running every 5 minutes, but we found everything at Akumal. Tulum is also gorgeous and a few more families. There is an authentic huge shopping market as well. We did have some issues, as anyone would on an 8 day vacation, but they were dealt with by the staff graciously and quickly. This is our go to all inclusive for life!! Thank you to all who made our vacation so memorable.

Figured I might as well do a quick review for anyone considering booking. We were in Akumal in a swim up suite with an almost 2 year old for 8 nights. Overall I loved this resort and will likely be back! Most the day we spent at Tulum in the splash pad pool or Coba at the water park. My daughter LOVED this! She’s small but fearless and I was thrilled nobody blew a whistle seeing my toddler go down the slides she did. Wouldn’t be the case back home for sure. Made our trip! We loved our room and had great service everywhere. Our swim up pool was amazing and clean. We stayed in villa 59 in an end room and had quite a bit of privacy without being too far from anywhere. Man did we get our use out that pool for nap times and evening or morning swims. Highly recommend for anyone with kids. We’ve stayed at many AI resorts in Mexico and Caribbean… in comparison I thought Bahia was Above average: child friendly environment even during late night hours if you’re like me and have drinks and still have fun with your kids, day and night entertainment (though the DJ could play longer at the resort and not the hacienda), food at Ku uk and Dolce Vita, rooms, beach Same: buffet nothing too special but had variety, pools were clean with lots of ledges and platforms that my daughter liked- maybe just more swim up bars would be nice. Below average: our room was great but the fact that motion sensors turn off AC, fan, and power to outlets that were charging my devices when not in the room

Summary: Rooms - Good size with all required equipment and Clean on the down side - beds in the room were little bit smaller than expected ( we took 2 double bed and it is good for adult and kid but pretty small for 2 adults ) Our room had issue with the strong mold smell, Also nearby area had some issue with sewer backup and smell of it the solution from the hotel which was provided is humidifier which didn't help much but within few days the sewer backup was fixed ( at least the smell ) and the mold smell in the room was much better ( still was but acceptable level) The surround area was like paradise Food and main location first class Ability to move between hotels areas in the Bahia full complex ( Tulum-Akumal-Coba ) provides you always something new to discover over. Over all l0 days we weren't feel even once we want to go beyond the complex It provides you with a lot of restaurants and entertainment options The only does side is you need to book restaurants before you get to the place and sometimes it is hard to manage right timing service is excellent from all staff we met Kids club just AMAZING- Facility - activities- Stuff Entertainment team - AMAZING Beach - not the best but due to the nature of the place ( a lot of rocks in the swimming areas and the sand less good than in Playa Del Carmen ) but views to the sea are amazing Pools are great and worm Bars are great - excellent service

This property was horrible. There were so many problems with the property and staff that I'll run out of space if I try to list them all, so here's some of the biggest: 1. Really, really poor customer service. No one knows anything about any issues and everyone tries to pass the buck to someone else to deal with problems. I'm not sure if there was a communication issue between staff or a general antipathy toward guest comfort, but the result was an incredibly frustrating experience. It was so bad, I decided to leave a day early and asked for a refund for the one night, which they refused. 2. The rooms were gross and dated. And I say rooms because I was moved twice. The first room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator and didn't have a working phone. The second room kept losing power (at least 4 times a day) and even lost water one day. All three rooms had mildew on the curtains and the bedding smelled musty. 3. That gods awful app! They force you to download their app and insist that you use it for everything from booking their restaurants to ordering room service. It barely worked, constantly saying the wifi was too slow. I never did find a map of the resort on there. I ended up taking a picture of the map on the signs around the property. 4. The food was practically inedible with very few options. I will NEVER stay at another Bahia Principe. I'm convinced their whole company is a scam. The "luxury" part of their name is a joke.

We stayed with friends here for seven days. It was our second time at this resort and it was just as great as the last time in 2020! We booked a room for three people and we were given two double beds. The double beds were a bit too small for a couple - there was a daybed option but it was pretty uncomfortable. Rooms were otherwise clean - no complaints! We booked reservations at Tequila, Katok, La Gran Tortuga, Dolce Vita, Mediterraneo, Mikado, and Don Pablo. Tequila was a buffet - we found the food to be just alright. Katok was our best meal - the steak was incredible and we loved the welcome drink! We tried to book Teppenyaki at Mikado 10 days before check-in but it wouldn't allow us to select the show option. When we arrived at the resort we spoke with guest services and they were able to book us in. We only had one bad experience at the resort and this was at Don Pablo (Tulum). We were a group of 7 and booked a reservation for 6 as there was a limit when booking online. We asked guest services to update our reservation when we got to the resort and they said that we should be fine. For the first two a la cartes they were able to easily accommodate us, but Kevin at Don Pablo would not let us in to the restaurant as they were "too full" and said if we were staying at Tulum they would have prioritized us. Entertainment staff and volleyball were amazing - shout out to Erik for being the best!! Otherwise the resort was beautiful and we can't wait to go back.

I’ve stayed at Bahía in Punta Cana and I was very disappointed at the service here in Akumal. - check in was disorganized and my room didn’t reflect pictures on booking - the private transfer car was not on time at the airport - the servers mainly didn’t speak English - the a la carte restaurants were low quality - the app doesn’t work and the checkout has no payment gateway

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing!! All of the staff are super helpful and the restaurants are delicious! I don’t think we had a single bad meal. While staying here, you have access to 3 other resorts as well as a shopping center that is a great place to go for souvenirs. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

My family went at the start of April off 2024. The amount we paid in total for luxury. I don't think it fully lived up to it's rating. The rooms are dated but clean, lots of variety of food but seems like they reuse and rotate through a few different items. I wish they would play more music in the pool area and I've been to places where they have a staff walk around asking if you would like a drink and they only have one bar in the pool area of each major pools at each property. Beach was beautiful but prepare to deal with Rocky parts and large waves especially on windy days.

The resort shares property grounds with their 3 other resorts so it provides a vast range of activities and dining options. They have trams to transport you around the resort which is a great convenience when in the humid weather. The dining in all the restaurants that we tried, provided delicious food that exceeded our expectations for an all-inclusive option.

Overall did not have one bad experience. Food from the buffet and restaurant was good. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Room was outdated but was clean and spacious (we opted out of the upgrade for the renovated rooms). We will for sure come back to Bahia Principe

This was my second time at Bahia Principe resort in Mexico. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves, good beach (bring watershoes because it is a little rocky) and the adults only area is great! They need to put a towel return on that side of the resort so you don’t have to walk all the way to the main lobby pool to return your towels each day. We managed to be able to grab breakfast & lunch at Katok as it was a buffet during the day and a restaurant at night right at the adults only pool. The a la carte restaurants were pretty good, we had our favourites and one’s we’d never retuen to. Overall even if dinner wasn’t good the buffet was open late. Would recommend booking your dinner reservations at 7PM, perfect amount of time to go to the room and get ready without feeling rushed. Trams are running between the resorts pretty well. Felt like there wasn’t enough running at Akumal itself, we did a LOT of walking as we upgraded to the newly renovated rooms. Which were completely worth it! Absolutely stunning. For evening activities you can go to the show at 9PM, theres live music till 11PM, sports bar is open till 1PM and the hacienda is open till 3AM on Tulum side. Fair amount of night activity if you want to be out late, but not a huge party resort at all if thats what you’re looking for. Overall i’d return again!

Great hotel. The food is superb. The service is excellent. Sadly the beach is not. Lots of rocks. Beware of walking barefoot ! You will cut your foot ! Wear aquasocks for a better experience.

For being labeled “Luxury”, I felt it was far from it. Room was sub-par: bed uncomortable, pillows were super tiny and hard, shower was dirty and had had a bunch or poorly done repairs, multiple colors. Had three guests and didn’t have the third additional bed made. Restaurants: food was meh, mediocre. Very bland. But the buffet was AMAZING. Food was great tasting BUT everything was cold alot unless you had it fresh cooked. Ala carte was ok - Some things were amazing and other things were terrible, like zero flavor. Service at food places was great though, very attentive, no mistakes, very sweet staff!!! I have to give the biggest shout out to Eddie and Carlos at the pool bar. They were the most patient and hardworking bartenders! They made the trip! Spa was FANTASTIC. Had a mud detox, facial and a massage and it was PERFECT. Just wish the room was better because I wouldn’t sleep ever and just felt dirty.

Maids kept taking blankets and towels and not replacing. Cheap alcohol, hard to find better quality liquor. Lack of shade and places for kids or teens to go to get out of the sun for a bit. Night life and activities are lacking. Not all inclusive, they charge for certain shows and activities, arcade is extremely expensive.

We loved everything about this property. We stayed in the adult only section and it was definitely worth the upgrade. The concierge service was excellent and Mariana was particularly my favourite. My only complaint is I don't love the sweetener they use in the mixed drinks. I think it is a sugar free sweetener. I learned to ask for things unsweetend.

Lots of fun activities at the pool. Staff was super nice and the waitress's at the pool were great. Rooms were clean and nice. We ate at 5 of the different restaurants and the buffet which were ok nothing exceptional. All in all a great place and would go back and definitely recommend.
