A holiday in Røst will allow you to experience a very special side of Norway. Bird watchers from around the globe come here to see the iconic puffin. Visiting Røst in the middle of summer allows you to experience the Lunde Festival, held yearly in the Quirinihallen. The old marketplace, Brygga, is where Røst welcomed the turn of the millennium. Head to Vedøya, where you can disembark and for bird watching, while Røstrevet, situated just off Røst, is one of the largest coral reefs in Norway – you are almost guaranteed to catch fish here.
Røst is situated well out to sea and the temperature is strongly affected by the Gulf Stream, providing a typical Norwegian coastal climate. It is almost always windy and you must remember to bring a hat even if you visit in summer. In autumn and winter, the area often experiences hurricane-force winds.
To get to Røst, you will need to take an internal flight within Norway from either Bodø or Leknes, which run daily. If you are taking a longer tour of Norway, you could travel by ferry or car ferry on a tour of the islands or from the mainland.
