Very poor customer service and deserve not more than 3 stars for their service, offerings and behavior. I would like to get my money back from this hotel. The room does not have standard items! Just the look and name including alace does not give that feeling. Please stay away from this property.

Location is the main problem. It is too far away from everything and no nice restaurants close by. The food is so-so in the hotel restaurant and way too expensive for the quality.

This should be a last resort booking …
This was one of the worst hotels we stayed at during our trip to India. Our rooms were not even ready by 12 pm. So, we left to do sightseeing and returned by 8 pm only to find that they did not have the rooms we had pre-paid for. Finally after a lot of arguing and waiting for 45 mins, the rooms became magically available, thanks to the intervention of one of the managers who was actually very helpful. When we got to the room, the fridges in the rooms were not working, the mattresses were so soft, they felt like they were 20 years old. Finally, when we were checking out just 8 hours later, we were being over-charged for multiple breakfasts which we did not have. The employee at the front desk was so rude and unprofessional during the check-out. He slammed his hand across the desk and flung all the papers on the floor towards one of the other employees. To make matters worse, there were other guests also experiencing similar issues as us. I told them my family had a flight to catch and I couldn’t waste any more time, but still he was not helpful. At 6:30 am, finally a manager (Sunil) was called and he helped us clear up the mess. In short, the managers were great, the employees, not so much. The property has potential, but lots of changes must be made to achieve a 4 or 5 star rating. At best, I would give this property a 2 star rating today. Hope this is helpful.

The hotel from the outside and lobby is good. Especially their lawn and front lawn is really nice. Their bedding cleanliness really was a disappointment. They should really consider changing those with new ones very soon. The bathroom bath tub curtains were really old as well. The staffs in the front desk could do better and the food hall was ok.

The room lacked expected amenities like washroom accessories shaving & dental kits, only one soap between wash basin and bathing areas, no hand towels, no bathroom slipper or bathrobe. They could not change the spring mattress that was too sinking for our spines. Food was tasteless and half the items not available. Breakfast spread was ordinary and most items were cold.

It’s just a 3 star category hotel, with very basic amenities and unhelpful, unfriendly staffs. Outdated old rooms and poor quality shower. How on earth this can be a five a star hotel. It’s tucked away from the city. And takes at least 1/2 hour to get to the attractions. If you want to stay at a three star property far away from the city, this is for you.

The pictures of the property shown on Expedia is nowhere close to the reality. It’s a very badly maintained and terribly managed property. The staff was untrained and unprofessional, property cleanliness was very poor, bathrooms were horrible, and the overall experience was just not what we expected when booked the hotel. This property is marketed as a heritage hotel and they try to give an impression as if it’s one of the palace style heritage hotel, which is absolutely misleading. It’s a cheap quality hotel; the services, staff and the overall feel of the hotel is very much like a Motel or a road side Inn. Stay away from booking this hotel, it’d be a huge mistake.

This was a really bad managed hotel. We had a large suite which did not have hot water till a huge wedding part arrived day after we got there. Low water pressure. Leaking ceiling into our room (to be fair they fix that), leaking kettle, not working tv, no chairs on the outside balcony, no newspaper delivered, blocked shower drain and loose toilet seat. Then there was the staff and restaurant. Bad staff training, being ignored in the bar are and very poor service with cans just put in front of us, no ice put in glass no service offered. Ignored in reception. Poor choice for breakfast when wedding appeared. General very very poor service and attention being this was a 5star hotel.

The property has seen better days, but keeps going as though it was still a top-of-the-line hotel. It isn't. It comes down to the fact that the staff are eager but poorly trained, being more intrusive than helpful, and often more concerned with their interactions with each other than providing what is actually needed for the guests.. Food is above average.

Good looking hotel, but....
What could have been a superb experience considering the look of feel of the hotel, instead turned out to be a dreadful experience. The bathtub drain was clogged and in spite of their best efforts, they could not fix the problem. The mattress was terrible and gave us backache. The air conditioner was also not working at full capacity. We complained and the hotel was prompt in moving us to a new room but when we inspected the new room we found the same problems. Never again!

Beautiful hotel on the outskirts
Gorgeous hotel building, but service in the dining hall is pathetic if you order a meal. They took more than an hour to prepare lunch, dinner orders for a la carte orders!!! When we inquired about it - they came up with lame excuses that we had ordered a Jain meal (no onion, garlic), so it took them extra long to wash pots and pans and cook simple meals! This used to be a Taj hotel until early last year - so the building, room, lawns are beautiful, but the hotel staff appears to not have much clue about hosting international travelers (I only say this because perhaps Indian residents are not bothered by the incompetence). Talking to the front desk/conceirge was a fruitless exercise - they were unhelpful at best! I hope the new owner gets his staff trained because it is a beautiful hotel that should be patronized, if the staff and kitchen are better.

Very grand infrastructure, poor service
Please do not confuse this property with the Umaid Bhawan Palace hotel - at one point of time both were maintained by Taj Group which could be the cause for confusion for many - it was for us at least. Clearly, the property has seen better days. The building, lawns, and overall infrastructure are magnificent. Even the road leading up to the entrance of the Hotel is very nice. The disappointments start with the upkeep of the infrastructure - wall paintings were peeling, bathrooms are clogged, Service quality is poor, to say the least. We only used the restaurant for breakfast but called for room service. The room service was delayed, and not delivered correctly. By the way the prices on the menu were exhorbitant - much higher than what a 3-star hotel such as The Ummed should deserve. If you do not set your expectations very high, you will be able to enjoy the stay at Ummed

A Quiet Oasis far from the Hustle and Bustle
The Ummed is a great hotel if you are looking for something quiet, pretty and peaceful. After experiencing loud honking from buses, cars, rickshaws and motorcycles at a decibel level that will compromise anyone's hearing, this factor is not to be underrated. The Ummed is about 6 miles away from Jodhpur's center, which for us it was great. the property is beautiful, although no longer in a great area, it must have been fantastic once upon a time. It feels like a wealthy man's palace, although clearly built as a hotel. One is surrounded by beautiful gardens, and fountains. I would say that the hotel probably is due some face lifting, as the furniture is showing its age, but it is very clean, large rooms, good bathrooms, and wonderful service. It is a very good bang for the buck, and transportation to and from the city easily available by asking for a cab with the hotel concierge.

Great property but even better staff
We stayed three nights at the Ummed. The property is beautiful and well maintained but the staff really completed our positive experience. From our initial front desk check-in, to housekeeping and food and beverage staff they were all friendly and focused on service. We normally would not eat in a hotel restaurant, preferring to venture into the city, but since we were traveling during demonetization and rupees were difficult to come by we decided to have our first dinner at the hotel were we knew we could pay by credit card. the food - a buffet - was fresh and very good. the staff were truly outstanding. Exceedingly friendly and helpful. we enjoyed the experience so much we dined there on our last night as well.

We significantly appreciate your concern about our property on the aspects of its up-keeping and dining experiences that needs improvement. In taking great care of our charming hotel, our main priority is to be able to offer a very well-maintained and contended atmosphere. The restoration is in progress by several phases. It is indeed a pleasure to announce that we have recently implemented many of these upgrades to the property. Our rooms have new bed skirts, window treatments, a brand new fleet of ‘suv’ for guest transfers, horse rides and far beyond that. Definitely a 2 star property!
Worst stay after booking delux double beds they gave us 3 couples twin rooms.after check in when we would call the reception for any work the manager on duty would either disconnect the phone or not pick up.

Good economical option.
We got a smoking room which was changed immediately to non smoking on request. Unfortunately we could not connect to the WiFi during the stay.

Short stay but lasting impact
This hotel is absolutely beautiful. You don't feel like you're right on a main road in Jodhpur because the facilities/grounds are massive. Feels like a secluded resort which is very relaxing. Beautiful peacocks wandering. Staff was extremely attentive, always helpful, and VERY accommodating so thank you for that. The room and everything else was spotless. If

Great Hotel Outside Jodhpur's Busy Area
I enjoyed the quietness of the hotel. It has a huge lobby and a quad to walk around. The hotel was far walking distance from the Jodhpur's busiest area. A driver is a must to get to the fort.
