Our stay at Ormlie Lodge was one of my favourite parts of our visit to New Zealand. The lodge is stunning, both outside and in, and whilst it is a grand place, it also felt very comfortable and homely. The rooms are beautifully done and the bathroom was very modern. Don't let the antique furnishings fool you, there were plenty of modern conveniences such as free wi-fi, large TV, and enough power points (a problem I found in other accommodation). There was also lovely historical touches - some of the books in our room were over 100 years old, and the fireplace would have been wonderful in winter. I found the bed a bit uncomfortable (hard), but that could be personal preference.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and I felt special staying at the lodge. It's about 20 minutes from Napier, but definitely worth the extra travelling time. I would definitely stay here again, and move in permanently if I lived in New Zealand and could afford to do so!
