Upon reading a few reviews about the hotel, area and quality of breakfast, I nearly booked elsewhere.
So glad that I ended up booking at staying at this hotel.
Firstly, the breakfast is one of the best spreads I've seen and I have absolutely no idea as to why some have criticised it. The food is fresh, plentiful, high quality and the largest range / offering I've seen in a long long time.
The area is perfectly safe. Yes, there is a little bit of graffiti but you'll get that anywhere. It is well positioned near restaurants, a laundromat and supermarket (7 mins walk), the bus to Venice (bus 43) stops directly outside the hotel and it's $1.50 euro per person per trip.
The hotel was a little dated in the hallways, and the carpet could probably do with replacing, however the suite that we stayed in was perfectly clean and tidy.
The staff were terrific, check in / out was easy. The hotel arranged a taxi for us to the airport upon request.
The bar is really good, though the hotel restaurant is currently closed due to the off season.
The only criticism I could come up with is that maintenance seemed to be lacking.
There were a couple of light bulbs that were blow, the toilet seat hinges were very noisy, one of the power points didn't work, one of the shelves in the closet was very obviously broken.
I'd give this hotel a solid 9 out of 10 for location, value, comfort.
