perfect location, great price
The location is great because it is nice quite section of Venice that is not too touristy yet you can walk to anything or jump on the water bus if feeling lazy. The front desk staff gives you a map at check in and I was able to ask their opinion to narrow down the places I had in mind to visit in our short time in Venice. The room was in a back building and had air conditioning although not too strong. Walls kind of thin so you can hear neighbors, no television, but still nice. Wifi was strong in the room and free. Breakfast is free and great, eat in the little courtyard. Coming from the airport buy a round trip (30 euros) Alliaguna ferry boat ticket. Best deal. Otherwise a taxi from the airport is almost 100 euros one way. Just jump on the blue line and although it is a long ride it is a pleasant trip into Venice. The stop closest to the hotel is only 3 blocks away. The hotel website has good directions for this.

Good location, but nothing else.
The rooms on view in the ad are the better ones. But beware if you get stuck in the old annexe. No aircon. No tea/coffee facilities. only one power socket (the other had been removed), so we had to rotate the devices which needed charging. The room was so small we could hardly squeeze past the large fan supplied in place of the non-existent aircon, with about 2 feet around the (comfortable) bed the only space. The view out of the window was a wall opposite, about 10 metres away. The shower was broken (you had to hold the tap with one hand to keep water running). When we asked for another room, we were offered the choice of paying another 60 Euros per night, or they would get "the man" to repair the shower. We opted for the man, who never appeared. One handed showering in a high-humidity environment is not the best experience I've ever had! There was only one hanger in the wardrobe. The breakfast was meagre, the drinks from vending machines were rubbish. Fourth time in Venice. First time ever disapppointed. The staff were friendly but incompetent. DON'T BOOK HERE!!

Well I checked in late at night after exploring the city during the day. They gave me a room on third floor and I had to take stairs with luggage in my hands. There was no lightening and some small animals were on the building walls. I was freaked but I had to stay. There was only one electricity plug in the room. I do not recommend staying in this hotel.

Okay hotel, fairly good position
The Hotel was not like the pictures on the review. I found it smelly and grungy, and to get to my room I had to go out of the hotel to another building and up stairs with a heavy suitcase which was difficult.

Decent budget hotel
Stayed at this hotel at the beginning of January 2016, when we arrived the beds hadn't been made and the bathroom had clearly not been cleaned or replenished with toilet roll. However, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, they immediately cleaned the room up and replenished everything without a second ask. Although it says free wi-fi on expedia and even on the hotels website, wi-fi is not free and is 5 euro for 24hrs. The buffet breakfast was nice, nothing special but edible. It's in a perfect location, in walking distance of St Marcos Basilica and the Rialto bridge, which saves you a lot of transport money. The room was comfortable enough, although beware of the shower, it's either freezing cold or boiling hot and comes out as a small dribble. When we arrived and throughout our stay there was building works being done, thus waking us up early in the morning. On the bright side, the room was well kept and had a nice view. Staff were extremely helpful and VERY friendly, I can't fault them at all.

Nice hotel, close to boat terminal
Hotel staffs are really good, polite. I had to check-in after midnight and a person was there to checked me in. Awesome buffet breakfast!!!! Hotel is close to Salute boat terminal, 10 min walk to Academia bridge to cross the grand canal, 30 min walk from Bus/Train stop. I recommend the hotel to be five star :)

Wouldn't recommend-NO AC OR FREE WIFI
The room was cheap and conveniently located in the main city of Vienna, just a walk from the grand canal! That is why we chose it and we also chose it quickly because there were no other options with such short notice, the staff is friendly but the room was very dirty with stained walls, and there is no air conditioning and it was extremely hot! Almost too uncomfortable to sleep, therefore we needed to leave the windows open which led to a terrible mosquito infestation for the night. Maybe it's just my American standards but this place just wasn't it! If you just need a bed no problem.

Good location for transportation and walking
Within easy access of various locality sites and water bus stop. Nice local restaurants that aren't too expensive. Breakfast self service good food and selection but no trays so need a couple of pairs of hands and several trips to carry things to table.

Disappointing.
Boiling heat in the summer yet could offer no thinner sheet or blanket except for heavy winter quilt, only one plug socket per room underneath a book shelf - not ideal for charging items. Hotel staff polite but rooms around courtyard which is noisy due to being a restaurant open for breakfast from 7am. No fan also to help with heat and very hard to find from station, near Santa Lucia Church and harbour, waterbus point Salute.

Terrible, horrific excuse of a hotel!!!
Terrible hotel, never stay her. Dirty with hidden costs. While we were there not only did we complain about a whole host of problems, one being our filthy bathroom/tub mouldy and peeling and other problems (too many to really list) we witnessed 5 other families at different times complaining at the front desk, shaking their heads also shocked at how horrible this place is. THERE ARE BETTER HOTELS IN VENICE A BETTER PRICES!!!! and if the owner responds to bad reviews don't believe what they say. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I have been to Venice before.

Great location but outdated and poor service
When we took the room, we (really?) noticed a wet wall and ceiling, coming from the room upstairs with horrible smell on top of it. Front desk (management ?) did not have anything else to propose ... This is the way it is and we don't have room available ! Stay away from this hotel!!!!! Only good point, the breakfast in a quiet courtyard.

Terrible stay, would not recommend!
My wife and I traveled all through Italy and this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at, and also the worst by far. Our room had black mold growing all over the walls & customer service didn't seem to think that was a problem. We demanded another room, which they only offered us a room in another building. No A/C, terrible breakfast, inconsistent hot water, smelled like smoke everywhere, not even an apology.. The ONLY redeeming quality in this hotel was it's fairly close location.

This was a ok hotel. It was my first time in Venice and I get that their prices are high but it seems like that they are being really greasy when they charge a 3euro per person fee for their restating like a entrance charge. Also the lugged charge is 7 euro which again very greasy they have. I would understand if people have massive amounts of luggage but a carry on bag should not be charged. This hotel doesn't really care for return costumes. Their success is only in their location.

Honest reveiw
Stayed 3 nights. Good location, close enough to the action, providing your ok walking or short walk to water bus. Not the best destination to take young children because of the walking and bridges(pushchairs).Far enough away from the centre for it to be tranquil. No tea or coffee making facilities although machine in reception. Staff ok. Breakfast ok. Room basic, but it is 2* if you just need a base to shower, sleep and breakfast at a very reasonable price you won't be disappointed. Restaurants and bars close by.I would stay again.

Great Venice Choice!
What I loved most about this hotel was that it was not in the completely "tourist" section of town. It got us away from the street vendors and more in an area that we got to enjoy the beauty of the city rather than the tourism. The hotel was easy to find from the water taxi port and we were able to walk to San Marcos Piazza from our hotel. The room was rather small, the bathroom and shower small, but it all served our purpose. The hotel did offer a continental breakfast that was one of the better ones we had during our stay.

Can't beat the hotel for the price.
Can't beat this hotel for the price. Rooms are small, but more than adequate for sleeping, which is all I needed. I was quite comfortable here. The neighborhood is quiet. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, 3 minutes walk from the Salute Vaporetto stop, and minutes from nice restaurants, shops, and many more museums and sites. The breakfast is decent (and comes free with most rooms). The people working at the hotel were helpful and very friendly.

OK on short notice
Driving into Venice without prior reservations made this one of the few affordable options, although still very pricey in comparison to the hotel amenities. Our room was large but felt like a concrete box. They only provide one towel even though you pay for a double room price. Reception said it's hotel policy. After a little more pushing, finally a second towel was given. Bathroom very cramped. They charge for internet usage. Breakfast was decent. Location was about 10 minutes walk to Piazza San Marco or can take the water taxi across the canal to first stop. Residential area and no restaurants nearby, about 10 minutes walk away.

Do not stay here
The worst hotel i have ever stayed at. Couldnt bring myself to use the shower because it was so disgusting. Room was a shoebox and the bed smaller than a double so too small for two people to sleep on. Mattress sagged and woke up every morning with a bad back. Hotel smelt bad too. Location was good. Hotel was a dive.

Good place.
Good place to stay, a little difficult to find; better instructions on how to find would be beneficial. Unfortunately, like many European hotels there is no fitness rooms, but the breakfast was great and the service good. While of course the city on the water (Venice) is wet, the room seemed dated and a little damp, the outdoor rear piazza has promise but the dirty ashtrays take away from it. The internet in the room was poor to fair, much better in the main reception area, lastly, the young brunette I suspect non-Italiana (Spanish/Belgian) front desk girl requires more enthusiasm - we are in Venezia! The day time guy much better. Thank-you.

Watch out for mosquitos...spent 2 nights in September and I was attacked, even with the sheet over my head. No fans provided. The hotel asks you to share bath towels and there was 3 people in one room. The female receptionist was really nice. Breakfast is good. Shower was in room, water stains all around. Shared toilets not in good condition, bags of cements left in there and blocked sinks, overflowing toilet. Romantic weekend, do not choose this hotel. 20 minute walk on island to Riolta bridge (shops and market)

Nice room minus the bathroom
We shared a bathroom, but our room (which was comfortable and nice) still had its own sink and shower. The toilet was in a separate room across the hall and was a huge change from the rest of the hotel; it was dirty looking and in a scary dark room with just a lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious, and it was in an alright location. While everything was still walking distance, it was a bit of a walk.

Hotel is run down, but wow, what a location!
We stayed at Alla Salute for three nights, and only needed the hotel for a place to sleep. It is away from the very busy touristy areas, but still only a 20 minute walk to St. Mark's Square! There is a restaurant next door with a lovely outdoor dining area, averaging around 15 Euros pp for a nice pizza dinner and drink. The room was on the top floor, not much of a view, and sure, there is crumbling on the walls a bit, and the bathtub surface was chipping off, but at least we had our own bathroom! I knew what I was getting for such a great price, and I was overall pleased with the experience. There was always someone at the front desk to help, and they were always willing to help us. The one thing I really wish the hotel had was air conditioning. We went in mid-August, and it was hot and humid. The beds are very firm, and the pillows are stiff, but the evenings were very quiet with the windows wide open.

Nice, clean budget hotel in lovely location.
We stayed in a family room - 2 adults and 3 children under 10. Location impressive and convenient, away from hustle and bustle. Clean, crisp bedding and stack of clean towels. Ample size room. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast great and good value. Decor of hotel well worn, but for a budget hotel this was good value - plenty of venitian character! Bathroom shared, but not a huge problem. We would use again.

Overall this was a lovely stay the people are very helpful and polite and helped us find our way around the room was nice with a comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the canal the only issue was not having a toilet but there was one downstairs so not too much of an issue, for me and my friend staying having the shower in the corner of the room was a little odd as you have to shower infront of each other but we are good friends thankfully!! I salute 'alla Salute'
I was very impressed with my stay at Hotel alla Salute. I knew of the location, having remembered walking past it on previous visits to Venice. So I knew that was going to be a plus. I was very happy with the service provided by the staff. From top to bottom it was very professional and very helpful (grazie Giacomo!). The accomodations were comfortable and clean and the appointments generous. I waited too late to make my reservations, wondering how it would turn out. But after my visit I place it on the top of my list on my next visit to Venice (in May 2015!).

When I arrived, I was happy to find that I had been upgraded to a room in the newly updated section of the structure; the room was very comfortable, with a double bed, large closet, TV, minibar, and a large bathroom with shower. The two windows of the room overlooked a neighboring courtyard. Although the heat took a while to warm up the room (given the placement of the vent at ceiling height), it worked wonderfully.

Good location, fare price
It was nice, hotel is very good located, close to St Marcos Plaza. Metro is also near the hotel. Breakfast was very good, they had the basics, bread, juice, milk nothing outstanding. The bad thing is that you have to pay for wifi, 2 euros per hour. Venezia is a place where wifi is very expensive and hard to get.
