“Lovely hotel”

Great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was small but very clean and quiet. Good choice at breakfast. Lovely bar area. Hotel had lots of character. Area quite pleasant - lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Hotel staff recommended a couple of restaurants which were not too 'touristy'. Would certainly stay in this hotel again.

“What a find!”

This is a lovely hotel with a garden in a very atmospheric area of Venice. Almost adjacent to the station in a quiet little street but yards from lively bars, restaurants and mouthwatering shops. Easy and pleasant walking distance of all the sights. The nicest hotel staff I have ever come across (not to mention handsome)and simple but extremely comfortable rooms with super bathrooms. Don't miss this treasure, the bar alone is worth a visit.

“Fantastic Reception Team”

We stayed at the Abbazio druing the recent "volcano delays" - the staff on Reception (Matteo, Mirko and Alvesi) were more than helpful and all have a great sense of humour - they are a credit to their management and kept us sane during what were very difficult times. Would throughly recommend the hotel the ambience is good and the location great - about 10 minutes walk over the bridge from Palazza Roma. The Grand Canal is about 50 yds from the front door with all vaporettas and water taxis etc available, great position. When we return to Venice we will be staying here.

“'open my heart and you will see graved inside of it - Venice'”

What a wonderful hotel. Kind, friendly staff, a beautiful garden, lovely facilities, generous bar staff (!), delicious breakfasts, an incredibly convenient location. We didn't want to leave! I won't miss the morning bell ringing though...!

“Weekend Visit to Venice”

We had a truly wonderful time in Venice which was enhanced by our stay at the Abbazia Hotel which we found to be very comfortable with easy access to all the sights of Venice by the nearby water bus. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The standard of cleanliness at the hotel was excellent. Breakfast was of a good standard with plenty of choice. If we were ever fortunate enough to have the opportunity to return to Venice we definitely stay at the Abbazia again. There were a good variety of eating places around and near the hotel within various price ranges. Definitely recommend a stay at the hotel, the area and Venice.

“Excellent”

Hotel Abbazia was exactly how I imagined it from reading all the other reviews prior to our stay. Very easy to find and within a few minutes walk from the train or bus station. Very friendly and helpful reception staff and a porter on hand to carry your bags up the stairs. We stayed on the second floor of the right side of the building which was good although there was two flights of stairs and no lift so if you are not able to manage stairs I would certainly mention this at time of booking. The room was lovely and the bathroom beautiful with complimentary showergels, shampoo and showercaps. The lounge area which was the old refectory was as gorgeous as the pictures in the brochure allthough being November they didnt serve breakfast in the garden. There is a small bar which also serves coffee, unfortunately this was not open the week we stayed and there are no facilities in the room for hot drinks so we found a cafe around the corner which served coffee and chocolate to go. There is a mini bar in the room however, we bought local drinks to keep cold in the fridge. I would definately use this hotel again without hesitation and recommend to all of my friends.

“An Italian Treasure”

It is in a tiny sidestreet off the Grand Canal, which used to be part of a Carmelite Convent. It is spotlessly clean, and the breakfast buffet is excellent. It has no lift, but they will carry your baggage upstairs if you want them to. The vaporetta is one minUte away, and it is 6 minute walk to the Piazza Roma where the coaches and taxis are.

“Stay here again - Absolutely!”

We spent a week at the Abbazia over Easter. Overall, we rate it the best-value hotel we have ever stayed at. Believe everything you read from the other reviews. Its location is great - about 6 mins walk from Piazzale Roma and 3 minutes walk from Santa Lucia railway station (look for the little alley way opposite the Scalzi Bridge - then 100m on the left). There are plenty of good-value trattorias/pizzerias within close walking distance, as are shops of all kinds. Despite its location, it remains quiet all times. The pictures on the hotel website tell the truth. Our room was a standard double. It was smaller than some might be used to, but very tastefully refurbished and scrupulously clean (as indeed was the whole hotel). The bed was very comfortable and the room had a very reasonably priced mini-bar and a personal safe. The only down-side was the limited storage space which meant partly living out of our suitcases. The en-suite was lovely with a double shower! Standard European breakfast food/drinks were on offer - all very tasty - and a healthy appetite could be served if necessary. The garden was a delight to use for breakfast. The biggest plus was the friendliness and the welcome offered by all the staff, particularly the gentlemen at Front of House. They all spoke excellent English which reduced my meagre Italian to an irrelevant embarrassment! Nothing was too much trouble. Will we stay again next time we go back? - Absolutely!
