“Exactly what we were looking for”
Or first visit to Venice was made all the better by staying in this lovely hotel. Everything about it was perfect from the location, cleanliness, room, staff and breakfast. We arrived by bus and were easily able to locate the hotel which is in a great position, very close to Piazzale Roma but its location not spoiled in the slightest by it's proximity to the bus station. It's location meant that access to all of the major Vaporetto routes was only a few minute's walk away as well as being moments from strolling along the Grand Canal. We were able to check in and leave our baggage safely until the room was ready; the room itself was large, clean, stylish and comfortable and was thoroughly cleaned everyday by great staff. The reception and breakfast room staff were excellent, without exception; helpful, friendly and giving the impression that nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was varied and plentiful and served between 7-10.30 which meant it catered for both early birds and those having a more leisurely stay. We checked out on Valentine's Day and were given a gift of heart-shaped chocolates which was a nice touch. In all it was a great value place to stay and really made for a lovely experience in Venice. We will definitely return.
“One of the best hotels in venice”
Very comfortable hotel. Spotless room and quite and good view across the roofs of venice. We chose a room at the top of the hotel and only had 1 mozzy which was ok. Breakfast was the best I have ever eaten in a hotel. You could have hot bacon and scrambled eggs or just cereal and a croissant or both. I eat an all day breakfast and it did last all day. The staff at reception were very polite and helpful. This really is a 4 star hotel disguised as a 3 star. My wife are planning to go back to Venice and we will be staying here. WE payed £65 a night in March. Terrific value, But you have to book in January.
“A good choice for many reasons”
Reception was efficient and genuinely welcoming. The room was immaculately clean and well presented. We chose to take breakfast in the pretty garden. Breakfasts were self service with choices that were more than sufficient for our requirements. We found no problem with noise at nights and did not realise until the morning after our arrival how close we were to the main bus station on Piazza Roma. Part of the joy of Venice is getting lost in the labyrinth of narrow streets, bridges and alleyways. The big plus of Hotel Olimpia is that most streetcorners have signs pointing you to Piazzale Roma and Ferrovia (Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station). Following these signs will lead you easily back to familiar territory. The other plus (and we didnt realise how much of a plus until we'd watched so many people struggling to drag or carry suitcases over the many bridges) it that the closeness of Hotel Olimpia to Santa Lucia and the bus station means that you're not one of those struggling with luggage and inadequate map reading skills while trying to get to your hotel. It could hardly be easier to find: turn RIGHT out of Santa Lucia, walk about 500 metres to cross the Grand Canal via the modern Ponte Scalze. This puts you onto Piazzale Roma, bear left and look along the line of taxis - the building ahead is Hotel Olympia and, though you'll need to cross another couple of bridges to get to it, the route is self-evident which is more than you can say for the rest of Venice!.
“Very convenient and clean”
We were staying in the annexe "dependance" section of the hotel which did not have a lift and the entrance/stair access was rather drab and slightly off putting. However, when we entered the rooms section, we were pleasantly surprised. Within our budget the room and separate bathroom exceeded our expectations regarding size and was very clean (cleaned daily, beds remade and new bathroom linen replaced daily also). We stayed for four nights in September 2012. Although away from the popular tourist attractions in Venice, this hotel made up for that with its convenient access to all transport links. Travel from and to the airport and access to the Piazzale Roma main vaporetto stop were virtually at the front door (or just a few steps away). This more than made up for not being in the centre of Venice. We would certainly stay at the Hotel Olimpia if visiting Venice again.
“Great hotel for couples or business people.”
Good location for the main bus and rail stations. Only 200 meters from hotel to bus station at Piazzale Roma. Very clean, warm and comfortable rooms although some may find the bathrooms a little on the small side, particularly the shower cubicles. That said there was always plenty of hot water. Breakfast's were a delight with plenty of choice. We would definitely stay here again.
“Great easy to access location”
Perfect location right next to Piazalle Roma therefore ideal for pre or post cruise stays in Venice. Triple Room was quite large for Italian standards. Staff were helpful and arranged transfer to airport, they also provide storage for bags when we arrived early from our cruise. Finally provided Welles at a cost for freak weather and flooding in Venice in October
“Great value for money”
Hotel was superbly situated next to Piazale Roma and the overland bus terminus. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Extremely clean. Only a short walk to the water buses and train station. We have been in many hotels in Venice and have found this to be the best 3*. In fact for service and facilities it nearly comes up to 4*. Room was a tad small but had everything one needed inc hairdyer, safe, air con, room service etc. We will definitely be going back next year.
“Lovely hotel in great location”
This was a great hotel in a brilliant location. Easy to catch bus from Marco Polo for 3 euros each and hotel right by the bus station. Tables outside next to canal great to people watch. Nice garden out back with 2 sun loungers. Watch the mosquitos! Good restaurants nearby. Free shuttle to cruise ships in bus station also. Only one small bridge to negotiate with cases. Breakfast ok. Nice staff. Great choice.
“Would definately use this hotel again”
The hotel was in a wonderful location-easy walking distance of bus and train stations, convenient for water buses and had several cafes/restaurants/small food stores nearby. Staff were helpful and friendly and spoke excellent english. The room (a triple) and bathroom were clean and comfortable amd we looked out onto the delightful garden at the front and a small square at the rear. Breakfast was good - buffet and tea/coffee/chocolate etc was served by waitresses.
“Excellent hotel!”
Great location! Airport bus for 5euros return stops within 5 minutes walk to hotel. Very clean room. Staff friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Venice!
