Hotel location is good near Vishwanath temple, but rooms are not good, there is no view on my room, windows covered because kitchen smell will come if open it, they have so many items in menu but you will not get most of the things.

The hotel is good, staff were helpful and friendly. However, the area is not very good. It's about 25 minute drive to the river, a lot of tuk tuk drivers are unwilling to bring you. The area around the hotel was dodgy too.

The hotel said they did not have my booking, despite having paid in full. It took some time to locate my booking. The initial room I was given was next to a wall being jackhammered. It was small and dated. I requested a room change. There was no room service. The website states the hotel is three star, but it does not compare to other three-star hotels I have stayed in. I did not sleep well due to the noise and I did not feel safe. The only reason I stayed was because my booking was non-refundable. Even now I still question whether I would have been better off foregoing the money paid. I would not stay again and I would not recommend.

Inside the hotel it is good. Staff is very friendly. There was this guide who’s name is Vicky who was very friendly and had many connections with the Kashi vishwanath temple pandits who can help to expedite the Darshan, but you are in your own to deal with pandits on the offerings you do because there is not set fees for anything. I liked aloo parata deep fry in the complementary breakfast at the hotel. There Annapurna restaurant right behind the hotel where we had our dinners through out the stay. Hotel also arranged travels to Sangam. Overall this is better hotel given there are not many good hotels in the surrounding.

Location is excellent for a non-ghat property. Located at an important junction which is at the border of the old city and the new city. It is on an average a 15 mins frive from the main ghats.

I forgot the mans name who works at the desk behind the main check in counter. He is married and building a house in Varanasi for himself and his extended family. I had a train ticket from Varanasi to Calcutta but no confirmed berth # - he was able to get me a berth # which was great fully appreciated by me!! If I come across his name in my notes I will write another review.

Great value hotel in good location in Varanasi
Stayed for two nights at Hotel Buddha. Staff were extremely helpful. Room very spacious and comfortable. Good location for main attractions and 1.2km to the ghats. This is an excellent value for money hotel in a good location run by lovely people.

A stay made special.
Only stayed 2 nights in Varanasi, but this hotel and it's staff made the time special. Their guide took us to all the mystical and spiritual places and events. We would have been lost and struggling without their help. We experienced the Sun rising through the mist over the Ganges like a magnificent Red Ball of Fire. And we were there before anyone else! I hope to return to Varanasi again and will definitely stay here.

Short trip in Varanasi
It is a very good hotel with lots of friendly people. Breakfast was as per our needs. Their client friendly approach was very nice and enabled us to complete all that we had to do in Varanasi. Thank you to the Hotel Staff.

i have traveled extensively in the last 25 years of my life. i have never come across such a lousy hotel. there is nothing international about this hotel, in fact it is just a lodge and not a hotel. have you ever seen a hotel not providing a bottle of water or a newspaper after charging Rs.6000 for a room, which actually is worth only Rs.2000. easily the most pathetic breakfast you can ever come across. dont waste your time staying in this Lodge, for Gods sake.

Very Average - Avoid if you can
A strictly average hotel. The location is bad in a dirty stinking by lane with garbage mounds all around. The reception staff though friendly are hugely condescending and treat you like infants. I had issues with the lights in the room not working which needed multiple phone calls to set right. though equipped with a cable TV, the connection is quite unreliable. Sub standard quality in the tea coffee self service. Room cleaning is poor and the staff does not make the beds properly, leave the room wide open post cleaning without locking and do not restock toiletry / towels / tea station ! The rooms are quite rundown with peeling paints, rotting door sills, boarded up windows and dirty curtains. The furniture is old and smell musty. The breakfast is very poor - taste, presentation and availability. Ordered room service dinner and the staff was unapologetic about a one hour delay because they were serving other guests and asked me to call later and confirm whether the food would be delivered ! Overall, avoid Hotel Buddha if you can.

Good value in Varanasi
This hotel offers an excellent and economic stay in Varanasi. It is about 30 minutes walk away from the river and the ghats, but the hotel is happy to arrange a car of an auto rickshaw anywhere. I had a ride to the Assi ghat that included a stop at the mogul area of the city. I was shown the manufacturing looms and processes there. The walk ended up at a sales place, but I wasn't interested in buying anything. Like many other places in India there was a desire to sell things to me. It can feel pressurizing to western tourists, but you can praise saying no! The staff and management are very friendly and helpful. They suggested the trip to Sarnath for me and arranged it. I was very happy that I didn't miss it. The neighborhood is fairly noisy and busy, but that is true of anywhere in Varanasi. The room was fairly basic in international hotel terms, but it had a balcony and a good size bathroom. There are rooms being renovated in the hotel, so in it looks as if modernization is on the way. The room and the hotel were clean, and the terraces and central vault open to the sky is a nice feature. The hotel arranged a car to collect me from the airport when I arrived, and he was still there when I arrived, even though I had a five hour delay on my flight from Delhi. That was appreciated.

Nice hotel with very helpful staff.

A sanctuary from the chaos...
When you get to Varanasi you will realize that The Buddah Hotel is a sanctuary from the rich chaos that exists between it and the river. The rooms were modern, clean well maintained and comfortable. Our trip in every detail from the Airport pickup to visiting temples with a guide and renting a small boat to see the life associated with sunrise and sunset on the Ganges was all efficiently taken care of by the hotel. If you are going to Varanasi, let them take care of those details. You will have enough on your plate if you are planning to jump into the rhythm of life there. The restaurant is marginal. The food is ok - well prepared, clean and edible. The cook even prepares Indian dishes with no chili if you ask (a rarity in my experience elsewhere. The only criticism I can make is that the restaurant service is laughably bad and if you want a beer, they will run out to get you one and serve it in a paper bag: no licence. So overall, the Buddah is a sanctuary in the middle of Varanasi's chaos. Book it. You won't regret it.

From Check in to Check out the experience was easy. Mr. Raju was helpful in ensuring things were going well and helped ensure a wonderful visit. With a leaky bathroom shower head 1 call to the front desk and within 5 - 10 minutes they fixed and replaced it. Similarly, there was a loose contact for the light switch which they fixed again in 5 minutes..service was excellent. The hotel offered a buffet style breakfast with both vegetarian and non-veg options. Compliments to the chef as the food was excellent, 2 thumbs up. Lunch and Dinner were also available at the hotel. We had the dinner and the food was also mouth watering. The guide, Mr. Pintu, is a very helpful, knowledgeable, reliable and honest person. He took us wherever we wanted to go, and ensured that we weren't taken advantage of as we didn't know the local language. He helped organise a boat ride along the Ganges River, and explained the history of the different Ghats. He also accompanied and showed us the good places where to shop. He was also able to organise the different rickshaws to take us around Varanasi. He spent several hours assisting us on the 2 days we stayed there. I will definitely stay there again the next time I visit.

We stayed here for 1 night. The hotel staff kindly upgraded our room after we missed our first night here due to our flight being cancelled unexpectedly. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was great. However, as we were there in January and the rooms are most likely designed for the hot Indian weather it was actually very cold in the room. The staff did give us extra blankets though so it was certainly bearable. We also did our tours of Varanasi through the hotel and the guide from there, Pawan Singh, was really excellent! I would highly recommend doing a tour with him.

This hotel has no soul , restaurant very poor
Looking at the picture from the advert for this hotel you might think there were lovely gardens, quite the reverse a really scruffy park outside often with beggars sleeping rough. The area is poor and a long way to the river. The front reception is ok but scruffy staff in woolly hats and old jumpers and dirty old sofas put you off. Our room was spotlessly clean and bed really comfortable, lots of hot wAter too, but no bedside lights just striplights you had to get out of bed to put lights out and no pictures it is in the centre of a really wonderful silk area so why not put some colour and brighten this hotel it is lacking any soul. It was freezing cold when we were there and although the rooms could be heated by reverse air a/c all other areas were cold and depressing.We did not feel safe at this hotel( our key went missing )which is strange as we travel around India every year The restaurant was appalling bad food served any old way, often meat with rice ten minutes later staff very ungraciouslly took our food back to be reheated every evening. Some of the staff were really lovely one in the restaurant was excellent, Our room boy was excellent but they so need training. I could not say it was terrible but it was terribly disappointing. Am sure there are better places to stay it cost us so much in tri shaw hire you could have paid more in a decent hotel

If what u are looking for is a nice place to stay then this is a good option. The problem I had was with the the way the hotel and travel section work. I am from the U.S. and this was my first time in india. The travel people that set u up with a taxi will want to take you to government shops which are priced very high so if you are an average income this will really hit your pocket book. It also seems that the hotel wants your taxi to take you there because they get a percentage of whatever you spend. By the time I came back everyone had known how much exactly I had spent. The taxi men that drive you have limited English and one in particular was rude. The main travel person I also felt was out to make the most with his taxi by changing his quotes prices often. This was not my first experience like this in india, but nonetheless disappointing.

it doesn't deserve the price.
i don't like this hotel. i paid almost 50 dollars for one night but the hotel condition is not that good at all. there are some the mosquitos in the room, the window of the bathroom is ajar and i have to use some fabric to cover it to prevent more mosquito from coming in. the whole room looks like very dirty and dark rather than the picture of clean and bright room online. what's worse, i heard some noise sounding like pigs from the outside of my room at night which make me sleeplessness and you can also imagine that the sound insulation is not good by the speculation . though, i think only one thing is that the service is doing ok. they call me every morning for the breakfast.
