Overrated, overpriced and not really value for money
I'm not entirely sure why this hotel gets such positive scores. It's fairly basic at inflated prices. True, the courtyard is nice, flower petals etc.
The rooms are clean, the shower's awful, and the uniformed staff, who look like they are on leave from the army, are nice (but generally after a tip - very pushy). The hotel itself is reasonably attractive, I suppose, but the photos are misleading to some extent. It's a bit of a mixed bag really and the 'heritage' rooms are not in any sense amazing - fairly ordinary in my view. My 'heritage room' smelt like pigeons.
The bathrooms are dated and, as I mentioned, the shower is not great. I heard one guest saying to reception that they had had no hot water for two days!
Breakfast is good, and so is the overall restaurant service at breakfast though one suspects another tip is required.
Don't expect a huge welcome at reception and there is an overall, but hard to define, atmosphere of extortion. Nothing feels genuine.
Overpriced and overrated in my humble opinion. There are better value 'heritage' options in Udaipur where most hotels are 'heritage'. Couldn't wait to leave actually.
