"The hotel was very nice and clean, but our experience was very poor. There was a citywide protest occurring with thousands of teachers living in tents lining all of the streets and blocking all of the roadways. There is absolutely no access to the hotel by car presently. Expect to walk 10 to 30 minutes depending on where your taxi gets blocked by the road closures. There could be no access for some period of time going forward.
The protest started more than a week ago and the hotel knew about this and knew that there was no access but they intentionally waited until past the period in which our booking was nonrefundable to inform us that it was not possible to get access to the hotel without walking with all our baggages.
I have elderly parents and had to haul multiple suitcases 20-30 minutes walking town through tent cities trying to reach the hotel.
Most of downtown roads are closed due to protest and FIFA preparations and the whole area is blocked by hundreds of polices. It was quite intimidating. The hotel was fully aware of this as the protest has been going on for over a week. Had they informed me, I would have been able to get other accommodations that would work for my senior parents."
