We stayed here during a recent weekend. Although parts of the hotel are in need of updating (aspects of it are stuck in 1985), we were satisfied with the look and size of our room. The room was clean and turned out to be quiet, except for the loud buzzer when using the key. It was enough to wake up anyone sleeping in the room when another family member came back. Everything worked and it was nice to have a sea view. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was a generous buffet. Covid protocols were not just observed, but were enforced in the dining area.
The surprising thing is that unlike most of the hotels along the coast here the Alexander Beach does not maintain its own beach facilities. The hotel sits on a high spot overlooking the sea, but the ramp down to the beach it used to maintain is damaged and unsafe. There is another path down to the rest of the beach, but then one must pay another hotel to use the beach chairs there. It's a "beach hotel" without a beach area of its own.
