From the time we arrived by limousine, escorted to our suite, staff made certain that we were settled and confortable - what a start to our stay. Facilities, service, friendliness, efficient and courteous staff - it is all second to none.

If you want to experience both colonialism and luxury, this hotel does not disappoint. Even if you don't stay there, just go and see it. The Long Bar, the court gardens and the shops within the grounds are well worth visitng. And of course, its almost law that you have a Singapore Sling! I stayed 3 nights and did not want to leave. Ever. You even have a butler on call if you want......... What more can you ask for!

We were welcomed as if we were family, looked after until our room was ready as we arrived before check in time! The suite was well furnished and arranged. Most things we could wish for were already in the room. If it wasn't our butler was instantly there to help! The bed and linen were excellent, the turn down service was discretely performed, replacement towels were provide at the same time if we had already used them during the day. All in all, expensive perhaps but excellent value for money.

It is quite simply, an experience not to be missed. When booking however, try and arrange a suite (room) on the first floor. The hotel is a tourist attraction and if you prefer complete privacy, first floor suites allow you to get around the hotel without coming into the public access areas. It's not a major issue - just nicer!

The hotel staff could not be any friendlier, the food is excellent, the rooms are very comfortable as well as having the history of ethier some one famous or of nobilty having stayed here before you. For the avarage man on the street like me it is a privilege to have stayed.
