It appears the hotel accommodation is NOT in the big stately building that you may see. Instead in buildings near the entrance (the restaurant building is closer to the house). Indeed the main house was not accessible while we were there, except for wedding parties; etc.
Our room was clean and functional. We were a disappointed because we were expecting slightly more sumptuous accommodation, furnishings, and an integrated hotel lounge etc. The hotel grounds are similarly "functional".
It was September, and we ended up with a few bites, but not sure of the source. There's a deal of open water in the area (not landscaped in a any way), so little mosquitoes may have been the culprits (the hotel were thoughtful enough to include an automatic lemon insecticide in the room).
Breakfast is reasonably good, with cappuccino; etc. readily available, and a deal of effort being made to offer my wife coeliac alternatives, including cake!
The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, and willingly offered good advice and support. The restaurant did make a mistake with the bill, but this was identified and rectified by reception staff without any fuss at all.
Would we stay again? If I were on business, and was asked to stay there, it would be fine. Would I choose to stay for a romantic break? No.
