Mosquito nest in room
There was a cluster of mosquitos in the room along the top of the wall. I didn’t notice until the morning when I woke up and my face and body had been attacked. My face is swollen. All they did in return was apologise, I left the hotel as soon as I woke up.

Everyone at the front desk was very friendly and went above and beyond to help find our way around the city. The room was clean and very spacious! Would definitely return in the future.

I stay at the Alcide, or at least dine there, every time I am in the area. It is a quaint, comfortable, family owned hotel in the center of town. The staff is friendly and very helpful, and the restaurant is well-known in the area for their seafood! It’s a wonderfully authentic “small town” hotel.

One night stay with two rooms. I would say that the hotel is nice and friendly and the rooms are a bit outdated but clean. Only issue I had that both rooms smelled of cigarettes and had to keep the windows open ..

Great Staff
Hotel Alcide was a pleasant experience all around, but it was the staff that really made it great. Most of the staff spoke both Italian and English, and displayed a great deal of patience and professionalism when addressing our concerns. They kept disposable maps at the front desk and always gave us great directions to where we wanted to go, answering questions in great and careful detail. We arrived several hours before check-in and they did everything in their power to make sure we could use the room early, keeping us updated the entire time. In addition to the staff, the hotel was clean, well-kept, and the food was great. The wait staff also provided incredible service. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is close to the main area of Poggibonsi and the train station/bus stop. It’s easy to get to and a good place to stay for anyone without a car. The hotel itself is on the older side, definitely needs some updates. It was functional. The bed was ok, the room had AC, there’s an elevator, and they had room service. There was a slight fishy smell to the hotel probably on account to the fish counter they share walls with.

The room is nothing like the picture at Hotels.com. We were told that the picture is the only ONE superior room they have, and that it was not available. Terrible room.

Older style hotel ok for quick stay over
Great breakfast - many breakfast cakes and a delightful full honeycomb of honey (no bees!) which we ate on a cool terrace. Easy free parking outside hotel. Very hot weather (35+ degrees) and unfortunately air conditioning marginal. Hotel had a fish restaurant on first floor so some smell of fish.

The room we stay was big and clean, but the TV was so small. Staff was ok. Free wi fi. Breakfast was good, a lot of choice. Parking space was available. Hotel sign is not obvious. Over all was above average.

Very nice people but the hotel is looking very tired and the rooms need to be spruced up. Mine had a fusty smell and an ancient tv with no picture on some channels. Also, the wifi signal was very hit and miss.

Older hotel, but friendly staff and free breakfast on the terrace each morning. We were visiting friends in the area, so really only used the hotel for sleeping.

Hotel in Poggibonsi
Staying un Poggibonsi is convenient if you want to visit Ciena, Florence, San Gimignano, Chianti region without having to change hotel each night. The hotel is nice with a very good restaurant.

A few days in Poggibonsi
A few days in Poggibonsi is enough, we were here for a friend's wedding and Alcide hotel is perfect for the price. You need a car as there isn't anything to do in PB, we couldn't even find a restaurant in the town! Out and about though is wonderful, we had dinner one night at Monteriggioni and another night at Vico Furbo in Vico D'Elsa. Its also only twenty minutes to drive to San Gimignano which is where we spent the second half of our trip, where one of the hotels in the main square was just a extra €30 per night. The room is large enough, there are two bathrooms one with basin and bathtub the other with basin and toilet so that makes morning logistics for a married couple slightly easier. The hotel wifi works well, once you can figure out how to get connected. The free bottled water in the fridge was good. The TV is too small and without any international channels. The aircon is a little slow and ineffective and we couldn't figure out how to override the automatic operation. The breakfast was very average. Overall we would recommend the Alcide for a few nights.

Usually when I seen something rated so highly by users I expect more. I guess I went in with high expectations...everything was fine just not exceptional. Of all the places we stayed on our trip, this one was the one with lowest quality breakfast.

"Free Outdoor Parking" is not the full story.....Free if you can find a spot. There are not enough to go round. However we did find parking not too far away and that was also free

Close to bus into Florence. Very helpful staff. Easy to find, close to freeway exit. Great running path along the park for an early morning run!
