Located right in the heart of the city. Huge mall at walking distance. Many dining options close by. Would be nice if the management did an upkeep. For the rates they charge, one expects everything to be new and fresh.

Hotels.com & Royal Orchid didn’t go well together
A good overnight stay requires three things: a smooth check in, comfortable room and a pleasant service. What went wrong as the first one: Hotels.com didn’t send the hotel my voucher and they refused to honour the receipt I was showing them as a proof. More than an hour was spent in the lobby amongst very irresponsible guests who were roaming without masks and this was scary and very tiresome after 9+ hours of road travel. Everything else went well. The service at all Royal orchid properties has always been good and here they more than made up for the bad experience with their hospitality and even a token goodbye snack parcel. My special mention to Yunus who worked hard to get this sorted with Hotels.com. This website would lose its clientele and also affect ratings of hotels who are subscribed to them unless 24x7 customer support is provided.

The attitude at the front desk was not ok. Just because this was an Expedia booking he didn't allow me an early check in. He demanded an extra Rs 1500 just for an early chec in & I paid it. He clearly mentioned that if it was a booking on his website he would have allowed an early check in. This inspite of me irequesting them that I be offered an early check in as my vehicle would reach Shimoga early in the day. Pathetic service.

Best hotel in Shimoga
Pros: Staff/Customer Engagement, Restaurant food, Breakfast. Best hotel in Shimoga. Cons: Price for Roti, Naan, Paratha (all types) is same. Roti is too small and thin (not recommended). Restaurant menu and inhouse menu are quite different. No Pool. TV channels are very limited - only 12 and out of that 11 are sports channels. I wish they had enough channels on TV.

We stayed here for 1 night, whilst visiting the Sakrebailu Elephant camp. The hotel is located right on the main road. The hotel was overall clean, however the layout of the bathtub, toilet and shower area was very weird. You had to walk across the shower to get to the toliet and bathtub. Just a very weird layout and seemed like not enough thought been put into this. We have been given only one towel for 2 people staying. There were areas of the room that had not been cleaned properly, for example around the toilet area. The food in the tiger trail restaurant was very good and not too expensive. The vegetarian spread for breakfast in the Pixx restaurant was awesome, lots of choices. The hotel was good location for the Sakrebailu elephant camp, if you have your own transport. Took us only 20 minutes journey time. Also another plus was that the hotel accepted our international credit card for payment, and also managed to process it in rupees which was great.

I needed to book a last minute hotel in Shimoga and found this via TA. It is a decent hotel, clean and well maintained. They were responsive to our room service request. I paid $125 including taxes and the room is definitely not worth it. Especially in a Tier 2 city. Their front office needs more training or staff. It is not only extremely slow but they were going to double charge me (I am sure it is by mistake) and fortunately I caught it. The hotel itself deserves only four stars. The reason I am giving an extra star is in recognition of their F&B staff. We reached quite late and when we reached the restaurant for dinner, they were almost about to clean up. Not only did they very kindly accommodate us but the Chef came out personally to check on us. We ordered simple roti, dal, subji and the rotis were among the best I have ever tasted. And a special shoutout to Deepa who served us at breakfast. She was very pleasant, friendly and professional. The breakfast spread is very nice including excellent fresh fruit. If not for the F&B staff, I would have given only 3 stars.

- Room was good and bedding was comfortable. This is a big plus. - Housekeeping was slow as there was a very considerable delay in getting the basic like towels (the same was not kept in the first place after cleaning!!!!). Perhaps there was a shortage and if so its no good reason for a star hotel. - Big negative is the in house restaurant. The quality of food is not good especially the one in the ground floor. Some items were in fact kept spoilt !!

The "WORST" Ever Stay !!!!!!!!!!
after checking in found that the rooms had all dirt and filth all around..had to call house keeping and got all 3 rooms booked by me cleaned ...there was dirt ,BUNDLES( not strands) of hair scattered all around in the rooms.not expected from a 4 star resort. there was a stink in the entire hotel..when asked ..the staff said that this was a regular feature. NEVER EVER STAY HERE ..WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY

We stopped over at ROCS during our trip to Jog falls and the surrounding areas. The experience was wonderful. The amenities were clean and neat and the personnel very cordial and friendly. The food and service at Tiger trail restaurant was awesome. The pampering continued to the breakfast next day too! An awesome place. Would definitely recommend it to ppl.

Smooth stay for 3 days. Wife, son and i went for my son's badminton tourney so we didnt travel much anywhere other than hotel to courts. Comfy rooms, good food, decent service - can't ask for more.

The Wi-Fi as promised by the hotel was not good. The connection keeps dropping. This is the only complaint I have...The water was leaking in the toilet. On the complaint given, their maintenance staff did the job, but took long time to rectify it as most of my personal time in my room was compromised by the presence of the maintenance staff in my room.
