Very happy with the room. Great value, nothing to complain about.
About the welcome at the reception desk however...
I made my reservation thru Expedia.com 24 hrs before my arrival at 7pm. The on-duty manager, Mr. Ma, couldn't find it, seemed quite pissed and waived dismissively at the hotel logo, to suggest I wasn't at the right place. I explained (in simple Chinese) that if I could see my emails, I could provide him with the reservation code. He kept his aggressive stance and refused, but fortunately, a female clerk let me do it. He then asked me for the phone number of my reservation channel. When I pointed out to him (again in Chinese) that this number was in the US and that probably they wouldn't be able to speak Chinese, he slammed the phone with some angry comment. The whole check-in process was like this. He sulkily asked what rate I was supposed to have, with or without breakfast, said my credit card was no good because he didn't see that I needed to enter my PIN, etc. The rest of the staff seemed quite embarrassed by the manager's attitude. If I hadn't speak some Chinese, I'm sure I would never have been able to check-in.
But again, the rest of the staff was ok. Obviously, they're not used to handling guests that don't speak Chinese fluently, or maybe Japanese, because the writing in the hotel was all in either language. English was also of no use when I tried to order chicken soup later from my room.
