Excellent location for gaslamp quarter - lots of restaraunts & bars nearby, fantastic hotel, great for price, very modern, great rooftop bar, room can be noisy at the weekend depending on your neighbours! Otherwise 10/10.

“Gaslamp Quarter - W0w!”

My son and I had a wonderful stay in San Diego. We had 9 days of activity,jogging,cycling on hired bikes( next to the hotel), wonderful eating, plenty of culture in Balboa Park, American football . The visit to aircraft-carrier Midway was memorable and Seaport village vibrant. We parked the rented car at a nearby indoor park( $16 per 24hours). Hotel Solamar was excellent, the complimentary wine hour at 5pm was looked forward to! Easy trip over the border to Tijuana, though the queue to get back was long! Easy driving into the rugged countryside on great roads.I'll be back!

“Loved this hotel”

We booked this hotel simply because of the location. It was really central didn't need to drive any where. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room was really big, beautifully decorated and had a massive bed! Nice bathroom. The hotel was really clean and our bed was changed daily. All in all it was amazing and I would stay there again!

Only 2 mins walk from the convention centre, which is much better than the so called "Convention Centre Hotels". The standard of the room was also superior to that of the Marriott and for a much more attractive price. The hotel features an attractive pool side bar, a free wine reception each evening, very friendly staff and laptop safes capable of storing a 15" laptop.

“'Wonderful wines and Perfect location”

Fabulous hotel...great location in Gas Lamp district. Friendly staff... very clean... great wine served at 5pm (complimentary) very nice after a long day sightseeing. Within walking distance of many places of interest. Special mention to the car pool boys/porters who were always very pleasant and helpfull. Pool very nice but always busy.

“Hotel solamar - san diego”

Price was excellent, plus they havea valet service for your car. However this is quite expensive! but didn;t matter to me as my company was paying, check in was very smooht, staff were helpful at all times. I had a standard room with 2 queen beds. very clean and lovely decor, shower is great. I had a view over the outdoor bar, it was great. Bar was lovely although a little bit expensive but ona par with most of the other cosmopolitan bars in the area. Didnt eat in the hotel ever just due to my schedule. Hotel is perfectly set in the gaslamp area, quite enough at night but like one block away from the hustle and bustle which is what I wanted at night. The pool looked lovely although I didn't have time to get in it. They do a wine reception every night from 5-6pm, with free wine! not to be missed and you can have as many glasses as you like. Overall very satisfied with this hotel and would thoroughly recommend!

“Great Stay”

Lovely hotel centrally located in the gas lamp quarter. The hotel has wine in the evenings and coffee in the morning which is a nice touch. I used on street parking instead of the USd 27 parking. Rooms are nice but the walls are very thin. We could hear the guy next door on the phone and worse still, I could hear the person he was on the phone to!! Its the only downfall as the beds are comfortable and the hotel is tastefully decorated even if it is a bit dark

“Fantastic San Diego Location”

If you are looking for a quality, clean, modern and extremely comfortable hotel with friendly staff one block from the Gaslamp Quarter then this hotel is ideal. From the moment we pulled into the vallet and checked in to the free wine tasting each evening and free coffee in the mornings to the moment we checkked out everyone at the Solomar Hotel was fantastic. Well recommended and will stay there next time.
