The property is large, beautiful, and serene. The front desk was always available, friendly and helpful. There's a couple restaurants on site. Both have great food! The one by the pool is great to hang out and watch your kids swim while you eat. It's right on the beach so you can practically walk out of your room and onto the beach! It's a great place! Will definitely stay here again!

I have stayed at the Playa De la Luz numerous times and it is always clean and comfortable. The location next to the water is fantastic. It is a great place to stay when you are visiting Rota.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. Always very clean and comfortable. The staff is consistently helpful and friendly. The beach is right outside of the hotel. The views of the sunrise and sunset are amazing.

I stay here quite a bit for work trips. The grounds and rooms are always clean. Renovation of the pool and restaurant area were completed about 18 months ago and really looks great. Breakfast bar variety is better than most European hotel options, roomy and great service. The gym is decent for a European gym for sure with good variety of basic equipment. Pool closed in winter but lively during summer. Shower pressure was good this time as the shower head was updated in this one where others and sometimes lacking pressure. The room has the twin single beds which I still don’t understand but common.. the beds are a little hard but super clean and comfortable nonetheless.

Workout room has limited number or damaged equipment.
Room A/C did not work properly.
Ants present in bathroom.
Room cleanliness was substandard (ants, hairs in bathroom).
Had to switch rooms.
New room key card failed every day, had to change and get a new one three times. Apparently, the card was good for one day each. Why didn't they just program the new card for the duration of my stay?
Couldn't provide me with a receipt for voucher purposes.

The layout of the hotel and the property made it very easy to navigate from one area of the property to another, beach to dining to pool to room, etc.

Property has a style and charm that makes worth the visit, really nice right on the beach,super scenic,restaurants have excellent options,and food and bars were actually really good,many choices,.Hotel is clean,and just a little dated, but again,thats whats so cool about it..id definitely stay again.STAFF WAS EXCELLENT!!!

My wife and I returned to Spain after being gone for 30 years. The navy base at Rota has grown immensely. The town increased along with the population growth. Hotel Playa de la Luz in its hey day must have been incredible. It is still a very good Hotel with an outstanding staff. I have never seen such dedication to keeping the grounds beautiful. My only complaint would be that it is time to invest in modernizing the rooms. We were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. The room more than served our needs as we basically used it as a place to sleep. We were right on the ocean so listening to the waves every night was amazing. The breakfast buffet offered many choices for any dietary needs. There are two other restaurants to dine in. La Gaviota is a hit more fancy, but Dos Mares offers some great drinks and dinner selections. All in all, my wife are enjoying our 37th anniversary in Spain. Viva España!

As an English speaking traveler, I felt the staff was not very helpful when we were struggling with Covid symptoms and needed medical assistance. After 2x to the medical clinic we were sent to the hospital, by the reception staff, then the hospital staff who told us to go home. Found out we were supposed to call a # to report our cases, but they don’t speak English on the telephone. So I don’t think Spain is ready for travelers form the US. We loved Rota and the hotel was clean, safe and our rooms we charming. We even had a sitting room. Housekeeping staff was very kind and helpful. We would come back , but not during Covid!

Loved the location and the breadth of amenities. Very family friendly hotel with many activity options and multiple eating options. Somewhat like a cruise ship but on land! Having both a pool and large beach nearby was great
