Good Cice.

Posted 15-Jul-2014
Pros: Close to the area we were visiting.
Cons: Can't think of anything at the moment.
Location: Location was convenient enough for us to visit Vatican City.
Pleasant experience for sure. Can't complain about too much. It was a quick and easy stay. It was very much enjoyable, much more than Madison Hotel that we stayed in a few weeks prior near Termini.

Nice central hotel

Between Vatican and Coliseum. Nice, clean, modern enough. If you aren't planning on spending lots of time in the hotel itself then it's great

Freeway!

Posted 06-May-2014
Pros: Location was fine and the breakfast was above average.
Cons: Air conditioning turned on as noise from street was deafening.
Location: A lot of walking to do any thing.
Don't get a room near the street. Unbelievably noisy!

Pros: Courteous day staff evening staff need a course in manners and attitude
Cons: The manners of evening desk staff
Location: Good location
Room was warm went to ask at desk in the evening was told to open window also that the ac was not turned on the desk clerk was very arrogant and condescending and actually turned his back on me. The day staff was very helpful and more than made up for the arrogant and condescending evening man. The housekeeping staff as well as the the dinning room staff were excellent. Generally the building facilities are in need of an facelift.

Great Customer Service and Proximity to Vatican

Posted 28-Apr-2014
The hotel staff was exceptional, going above and beyond to assist us with any questions we had. They were pleasant and welcoming and very helpful with providing maps and directions to any location in Rome anytime we asked. They also called multiple churches to find us a Mass time that worked with our schedule. The continental breakfast was fantastic and made for a great start to our days. While the menu was the same every day, there was such a variety of options that you could have something completely different each morning. The pastries were delicious! It was obvious that the rooms were older and hadn't been updated recently, but they were clean. The only downside to this hotel was that the beds were not very comfortable. The mattresses were hard and the pillows were very flat. We didn't spend much time sleeping though, and the location of the hotel and excellent staff more than made up for it. It was only a five minute scenic walk to the Vatican, which was perfect.

Great for sight seeing

Posted 22-Apr-2014
A perfectly located hotel in a fairly quiet area with a couple of bars, restaurants and cafe bars. If the sun shines the square at the end of the road is a lovely place to sit. All the main sites of Rome are in walking distance and a lot easier to find than we thought! The queues for the coliseum and Vatican can be avoided with tours, the tour reps hang out just outside but shop around for a good price! The food in the Piazza Navona is expensive and not the best quality but still a great place to go! Save money by eating at the little caf├ęs surrounding the square. Also use white taxis to the airport...set rate of 28 euros, the hotel concierge wanted to charge 50 for their taxi company .

Fantastic location

Posted 06-Apr-2014
Pros: Location. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Tired and dated rooms.....hotel needs to have a bit of a refurb. Also, needs to have wifi available and in particular free, especially in main areas.
Location: This hotel is within easy reach of everywhere. The farthest is the Colosseum but if you plan your route you can take in other sites along the way.
Great hotel within such easy reach of all attractions. Throughout our stay we didn't need to use public transport or taxis to get around. Hotel staff lovely and all spoke very good English. Check in and check out quick and easy. The hotel is a little tired and dated but everything is clean and what you would expect from a longstanding hotel. Breakfast very good and even provided a small hot food selection, which we were not expecting. We heard a few guests moaning about not knowing where breakfast room was but you only had to ask to check!!!! Drinks at bar reasonably priced and staff were great, tempting you with nibbles while you drink. No free wifi anywhere in hotel and whilst we were there for a holiday, nowadays it is very much expected to be available, at least in main hotel areas. This is something this hotel really does need to get sorted. Televisions in rooms a bit dated and care should be taken regarding the extensive channel selections in various languages - whilst good, if you choose to use out with the basic news channels, then it is at around 20 euros per day!!!! Rooms clean and spacious. We had a lovely time here and would definitely stay again.

Extremely disappointed so we left a day early and

Posted 31-Mar-2014
Pros: The restaurant staff were nice and polite.
Cons: The attitude of the reception staff, and duty managers.
The disappointment began with the size of the room. I had booked a superior double room for my daughter and I to share, the room we were allocated was small and dingy, so I am not sure why it would be classed as superior. As soon as the receptionist saw that I had booked the room through Expedia, his whole attitude was that of disdain. I arrived two days ahead of my daughter as I had some work to do in Rome. During these two days, I had plenty of opportunity to observe the interaction between the hotel staff and guests. Most (not all) were at best indifferent, and at worst, just rude. Then, during the weekend, I experienced the rudeness and the general unhelpfulness of some of the staff, first-hand. They tried to charge for internet, even though it was already included in the cost of the room for the duration of the stay. There were other occasions where I had to argue for what should have been rightfully provided according to the reservation details. We were supposed to stay until Monday, but I could not bear the situation any longer and found alternative hotel for our last night in Rome and moved out of this awful hotel.

Great hotel in central location

Posted 12-Jan-2014
Pros: Staff efficiency and friendliness; great location; modern, clean facilities.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Very close to the Vatican, but also to the historic center of Rome, which is just across one of the bridges. We basically walked everywhere.
We loved our time at Hotel Cicerone. It has modern, great facilities, and the location is perfect to go almost anywhere in Rome, plus it is also close to the Piazza Cavour drop-off point for the bus from the airport. Breakfasts are also great, with everyone being friendly and helpful. We did have a large room on the 6th floor, probably larger than the standard rooms, and this probably helped make our time there even better.
