The accommodations here are adequate. Inside the hotel proper feels like basic, sanitary shelter. The veteran staff does their best to maintain this basic level of safe, clean shelter with minimal amenities but working toilets and showers, clean sheets, steady AC.
Outside the property doors, however, the atmosphere is take-your-chances hard-luck Skid Row. I am reasonably comfortable with urban grit, and while I didn’t feel personally threatened, this part of town east of downtown put me on guard. I gave a lot of people a wide berth.
I hope Ramada and Wyndham are doing their part to support healthy living conditions in this part of town. I’d be interested to know how concerned individuals might support that effort. Meanwhile, this hotel and neighborhood really give off the vibe of being places of last resort.
