I was very happy with my stay at Le Tour D’Ivoire by the end. I will stay there again. The rooms are clean, the beds a little hard but some people like that. The restaurant/bar was open almost every night, when the rest of the town was closed, so i really appreciated that! The only minus was that most of the rooms smell at least a little like smoke, or strong cologne to try to mask the odor. Two nights in a row I was awakened late by the fire alarm going off because someone was smoking in their room or the hallway. The owners are very kind. There is a small breakfast there, but not included in the room price.
Call me Goldilocks I guess, I was able to try 3 different rooms, so I have a different perspective than some travelers! The first room I stayed was in the updated building, with a small kitchenette. Unfortunately that building is not air conditioned, so the summer heat got the best of me. Also, the windows opened too publicly, so if I wanted to sleep with the windows open people could see right into me sleeping on the bed 4 feet away from where they walk up the stairs. The owners were great, offered me two different options in the older building with a/c. The 2nd room, on the first floor, was fine, with a sweet mountain mural painted on the wall. However the paint near the floor was peeling on the corners, there was a bit of a bathroom odor. I noticed all of the rooms have a little water damage on the ceiling next to the a/c vent. The 3rd room was just right!
