Area around hotel not great, but its not hotels fault. General street cleanliness around Naples is very poor. "This is in the heart of Naples, so bear in mind, it’s a gritty city. Quiet alley like street. Lots of graffiti on the streets nearby. Very short walk to Spacca Napoli, one of the main streets to stroll through the gritty heart of Naples. Elegant dining room for breakfast though the breakfast buffet was relatively ordinary by Italian standards. Glad we stayed here, though. "

"Loved Grand Hotel de La Ville. Such beautiful rooms with inlaid wood, marble bathrooms, lovely painted tile floors. Breakfast and staff excellent. We had an end-view partial sea view, which I would skip in the future. Mostly a view of a neighboring apartment building, but everything else is fantastic. 5 minute walk to train station, 10 minute walk to shopping downtown."
