"The Octant is a great hotel. Location is perfect. The staff is absolutely amazing and very helpful. They certainly go over and beyond to make your stay perfect. The hotel is clean, up to date and the breakfast is soooo delicious!! I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone that goes to Sao Miguel. This is one of the nicest hotels that we have ever stayed in. Our room was comfortable, clean and amazing. We can’t wait to go back again! AND….its DOG friendly (so cool)!!! "

"Architecturally very similar to a classic Canadian Motel, but upscaled by several degrees of magnitude. Really excellent breakfast options including local food which you will rapidly come to love. Very quiet as many of the ceilings and walls are covered in sound dampening cork. If you are driving (which I recommend outside of the city) this is a perfect home base for exploring the island. "Overall, the property was Good: breakfasts, the dinner we had, the rooms were all as expected; the interior decor is good: the dining room had a display cabinet with an old radio set I remember from when I was a kid!! The location is a short walk (downhill) to the City Gates, good for buses, shops and marina with its shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, we were in a street facing room where, on Wednesday night, we were woken up by music and what must have been karaoke at about 0130 (Thursday)....

"It was a nice comfortable hotel. The staff was friendly and efficient. I wish there was a refrigerator in the room. The interior furnishings were fresh and modern, but the outside could be maintained better. Being so close to the water probably has challenges with salt air, but paint and power wash might make it look better on the outside. "
