IF YOU NEED DISABILITY ACCESS - DO NOT STAY HERE. This motel is NOT ADA compliant. They do not meet the laws required for ADA hearing accessibility. As someone with a disability who relies on visual cues, being placed in a “handicap” room with no visual doorbell, I felt unsafe in my room because I would not know when someone was at the door. I brought my service dog with me on this trip as well, and I called two weeks prior to let them know and they were very snarky about it saying that they were not pet friendly but they would allow it because the law says they have to. All of the employees had a judgmental look when I would walk past with my dog. Not only this, but in our handicap room the toilet rocked back and forth, the sink did not drain, and the accessible room did not feel accessible at all. We went down to ask for a different room because of the toilet and safety concerns and asked about the room being ADA compliant. We were told it was. After letting staff know about toilet, we asked to switch rooms. We were not comfortable using a toilet not properly bolted to the ground where the bolts were rusty. We were then told that we would need to wait until the next day because they couldn’t take any rooms off the market. Meaning our safety was not important??? When asking to switch rooms, I was told “well it’s not handicap accessible” after I had already mentioned that the room we were given did not meet my handicap needs. We were really looking forward to this stay…
