Good hostel environment with single/double rooms as well as shared dorms. Bathrooms at the end of the corridor were clean and good apart from towels lying on the floor. Well appointed common room and kitchen and even a small reading room on the 1st floor. Location and price excellent.

Nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed. it’s clean and staff is very friendly. Outside can be pretty noisy at night to early morning and really hard to sleep. There are so many good restaurants outside and also woolies is in walking distance. And also the light feature for the room was pretty awesome. ( you have to put your key card in a key card holder to turn on the lights and when you walk out the room you can walk out the room and take the key with you and light turned off automatically).

I had a good stay .. but I wasn’t happy the female toilet was closed off ALL DAY on the Friday it’s NOT OK to send patrons to another floor to use the toilets ,, anyway : This place was in a good location very short walk to the shopping mall & train services 👍

Great hostel
Booked one night to see how it was, ended up extending for the long weekend! 4 bed dorm, beds so comfy, clean towel provided. Bathrooms always clean and not too busy. Rooms are near a main road, although I'm a light sleeper my room was further away from the noise. Air conditioning made me lazy in the heat, didn't want to leave my room! Didn't really use communal areas, however was told by my female roommates the guys can be creepy. Wifi in the room not great, which is a shame as I wanted to book a private room for the rest of the week but needed reliable Internet!

Beds were good. Floor in the disgusting as they have not been cleaned in forever and we had to wear flip flops not to get the dirtiest feet ever. Toilets were fine and clean. Kitchen was the most disgusting hostel kitchen I had ever experienced. Filled with people’s used pots in the sink making it impossible to clean yours when you’re done (and also to find something usable that you didn’t have to clean up first). Also, the floor was terribly dirty and the kitchen itself not clean at all. The location is very good though. I would NOT recommend this hostel.

thank you for your review. So sorry hearing that you find our kitchen disgusting. Housekeeping clean the kitchen twice a day. But sometimes, the guest don't clean the dishes after using and got under our control. :)

Pictures make it look nicer than it is
The pictures make this place look a lot nicer thsn it really is. If more attention was spent in customer sevice and keeping the place up, ir might be a good place to stay. Would not recommend.

Not bad on facilities. Great on location. The common areas are decently well equipped if a little dingy. Bathrooms are good and well maintained.

I am quite satisfied with the 4 bed dorm. Bed was comfy, room is good size and it has a lockable cabinet (bring your own lock). The study table and chair is a nice addition. Toilet is clean. Towel supplied by the hostel had an unpleasant smell. The windows cannot be shut completely. And the street noise can be very loud at times. I find the keycard switch system very inconvenient. If the one that inserts the keycard, leaves the room, the electricity (aircon, lights, power) gets cut till the next person inserts the keycard.

Thank you for your review, we glad that you were happy with the 4 bed dorm. I'm sorry that the towel had an unpleasant smell, I will look into the laundry and check about the towels. We use the key card system to contribute to energy and environmentally sustainable.

Single room was so much better than the 4 bed dorm. It has everything i needed (i.e. hangers, rack to hang clothes, tables, chair, mirror etc). It is pretty spacious for a single room. I was able to shut the windows completely unlike in the 4 bed dorm. Street noise could still be heard but it was acceptable.

I booked private single room. The room is basic with TV, chair , writing table, cupboard, full body length mirror and a considered cozy bed. The aircon can be set to be air conditioning or heater. The room, toilet and common area are clean. This inn is quiet. The location is very fantastic whether you wanna take train or bus or ferry or just do shopping at the vicinity. A lot of restaurants nearby. If you join any local day tour, the pick-up point is nearby within walking distance. The check-in was smooth though I checked in at 9pm after reception hour but I did pre-inform the receptionist through email beforehand. The email reply was prompt too. Overall, the stay was considered pleasant and value for money.

Room is carpeted and so filthy you don’t even want to put your bags on the ground. Room was smelly and the cleaning doesn’t seem to happen (been there a week and the bin never got emptied, so imagine the carpet!). Kitchen isn’t that clean either (to say the least) and I never wanted to cook there, instead I had to do take away everyday... It’s a place where homeless people or weirdos seem to come to... Also, you’re not being provided with bed top sheet, but just one blanket, though very soft but so soft it’s high static electricity generating (everytime you move it sparks ESD). Stay away, don’t trust the better rating than YHA on booking website!

I stayed in 6bed dorm room which is very narrow and too congested. The space between top bunk bed and ceiling so narrow. Locker provided without lock. The room is disappointing, but other common space is good and cozy. The location is the best. Walking distant to street mall and bell tower.

Hello Thank you for your review. We take onboard wholeheartedly your comments. With regards to bunk bed and ceiling, unfortunately due to bed bunk design and ceiling heights there is limited to what we can do. As for the narrow room, we do offer a 4-bed dorm and 2-bed dorm which are more spacious. Also the reason the rooms feel narrow, its because our beds are extra wide single beds. We made a concious decision to give guests a bigger bed, which does take up more room. Thank you for your comments, we will review and if people feel the size of the 6bed is an issue we will look at providing narrow single beds in future. My stay was great. The location is super handy. The room and the shared bathroom are very clean, while the kitchen is not sometimes. There’s dishes left in the sink overnight and there’s always no paper towels in the kitchen every morning because the staffs don’t replace it. Also I’ve noticed a few of the staffs are actually residents in this inn and there’s one guy, he’s not very professional because he sometimes swears in front of the guests (not towards them but it’s just how he talks with other people). I understand they are all young men but when working, I hope they can mind their manners and not just unconsciously say the f words as it’s so not professional. Overall it’s a good stay.

I've stayed in many hostels around the world, and this particular hostel had one of the best kept clean shared restrooms. The bed was comfortable and the overall property was good. The location was fantastic with convenient location to the train and ferries. The only issues I had with the place was that the internet was a bit slow, and I didn't like the fact that you have to check out at 10:30am. Why not just make it 11:00am like most hostels. It's almost like they are trying to rush you out or something.

With regards to the check out time, we can be flexible on times depending on how late a person wants to check out. Bad place to stay. You will be kept awake all night by the drunk rowdy people walking past on Murray Street all night. Two words - Sleep Deprivation. The place does have nice bathrooms and comfortable beds but the drunks keep you awake all night.

Worth the price
Located near the city center on a very interesting street, very convenient. Rooms are very small, even sliding through the door requires some acrobatic maneuvers. The common area, on the other hand is huge, a great big dungeon with a full-size pool table (in bad condition though). The kitchen is also huge, with a lot of dishes, cookware and equipment. Plenty of toilets and showers, never had problem finding a free one. Front desk isn't always open, but I had no problem checking in by buzzing the night caretaker and checking out simply by dropping the key card into a box at reception. The main issue was dirt. Even though they threaten horrible punishment for not cleaning up after yourself in the kitchen, by the end of the day the kitchen looks like a wild drunken party just ended there. The common area is also full of garbage. The other issue is power in the room. You need to insert the key card into a special slot to get power. When you leave the room and if there is no one else there, the power goes out, so you can't leave your devices in the room to charge, it simply doesn't work. Worse yet, there are no power plugs at upper-deck beds, and you can't use the power plugs of the lower deck without waking up those who sleep below. This costed me a couple of hours of sightseeing, because I had to stay put in the morning to wait until my phone is charged. That was the most frustrating part. Otherwise, not a bad place at all and really cheap.

Hi Dimitry, Thank you for your review and comments, we do have housekeeping clean our kitchen and common areas twice a day in the morning and in the afternoon. It is unfortunate that there are guests who don't do their dishes or pick up after themselves and we are looking at ways that we can enforce our rules of guests doing their own dishes. With regards to individual power points for each bed, from other comments, we have started to change our bed-lights in each room which is dual power point enabling each guest to use charge mobiles and tablets. As part of our commitment to the environment, we do have power saving devices and through research it is not often that people will leave their mobiles or tablets unattended in rooms.
