Staff was rude and unhelpful. Speaking Spanish did not help in this regard. WiFi access was abysmal. Most towels and sheets were significantly aged and stained. The hotel is also in need of extermination given the number of roaches I saw during my visit. Overall would not stay here again.

simple but friendly
The hotel staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help us. The restaurant had a small selection of evening meals, very basic but well cooked. Breakfast was very limited, this let the hotel down a little. Our room was really clean, nice fresh white towels and basic toiletries. It had air conditioning too which was very welcome due to the heat of the city.

Nice place near to downtown
My overall experience was ok. The facilites and the room were ok too. My suggestion is to train the staff to be more polite. They were rude and they don´t smile at all. A good day greeting doesn´t make you less person.

Things to keep in mind No one speaks english If you rented a car the parking under the hotel is tight The free WIFI is good The free buffet breakfast is "basic spanish style" Been coming to PC for 10 years Overall I find good value for what you will pay to stay here

It was o.,k. for 1 night. It was clean, quiet, but no view-just a brick wall. NO English channels on t.v. Bed was comfortable.

Central as long as you figure how to take transit
Staff if the best price is awesome and take transit 2 blocks away you can get to the airport 1 block away

Perfect location, great for the price.
Really happy with the Hotel itself. The management could do themselves a huge favor and get some staff that have been trained in basic customer service. I woke up and went downstairs asking where I can find a cup of coffee. She said "hold on let me see if breakfast is included with your room." She pulled up my room on the computer. Then went to a file and pulled out a folder, looked at some papers. Then back to the computer, then back to the folder. About Five times. Then someone called. She answered the call and attended to them, about ten minutes. She hung up and continued ignoring me. I said "excuse me" and got her attention. She went back to the computer and folder over and over again visibly confused. Then she gave me a small red ticket said this is for breakfast. I went in the restaurant, sat down and ordered. Just as they were bringing me my plate she entered the restaurant, said she made a mistake, and that breakfast is not included. I stood up and asked the waiter how much for just the coffee. She said I can still pay for the breakfast. I said no thanks. The waiter asked her who would pay for this now? I said to her how can you re-neg after telling me it was included? She looked confused and said the hotel would pay. So unprofessional and incredible someone so clueless is working with the public.

I arrived at 1: 00 am, the door was closed. The host was sleeping I guess because I called and nobody answer and suddenly someone appears to open the hotel door. Everything was dark and quiet like a ghost town. But the room was nice and comfortable.

The hotel is fairly clean and quiet. The room was clean. Good bathroom and plenty of hot water. The parking underground leaves a lot to be desired. Very tight entrance and exit. The comp. breakfast just so-so.The location of the hotel is in a somewhat dangerous area. Not advisible to walk around at night.Overall...... I would give the Avila a 3.5......

Very awesome hotel (location, comfort level and scenery) However, staff never puts wash rags in the bathroom for some reason or the next, you constantly got to be reminding them. Breakfast is not included so every morning you have to spend $5 US or more to eat something.But other than that its a cool spot to stay . Pool lovers, this Hotel does NOT have a pool so keep that in mind

A nice surprise
Close to the subway train, the harbour pathway, the old town, only 3 subway stops to Albrook Bus station and plaza etc for 44$ a night with breakfast, split in two is just a little more than a hostel bed for 16$ each. Personnel very helpfull and friendly.

Hotel avila
We stayed here during carnaval and it was in a great location to walk to all the festivities. The continental breakfast was also nice. For the price, there isn't much to complain about. The two complaints I would mention are that the walls are very thin and you can hear anytime a person talks in the hallway or shuts another door. Also, we used the hotel phone to arrange tours (calling local in Panama City.) there is no sign, but it turns out it costs a dollar a minute to use the phone.

Worst hotel ever in my life. Bad neighborhood, especially at night, food is questionable, rooms aren't like the pics, bad customer service, no tour desk, never saw the bar open, holes in the bed sheets lamp shades dirty, poor lighting, little water at times.

The check in experience was terrible. They lost our reservation. We got it sorted out the next morning, but it is disappointing that a hotel cannot find a reservation, especially when trying to check in late at night. The breakfast buffet was mediocre. Everything else was fine.

it's a nice hotel in an odd location
the hotel is a nice facility but it's in an area that has few restaurants, etc. this is kind of problematic because the hotel restaurant didn't seem to be open much.

It's a nice economical place to spend the night!
The hotel was very clean, as well as my room. Breakfast was charged when I made my reservation but it did not appear in their system, so I had to pay cash at the hotel. Breakfast was not that good, either! There are not very many choices. I was better off eating outside.

The hotel and the rooms were clean. At times there was a langular barrier but despite that the service was good and they were all very helpful. The staff suggested some bars and restaurants nearby and always helped with our luggage and calling taxis for us.

Very good, clean and the AC worked fine. Hotel is a few blocks from the METRO which can get you to Albrook Terminal in just a few minutes. The other direction is good for sightseeing, shopping and dining. Recommend for folks that speak Spanish and understand the risks in Panama City.

It is a good value!
I would definitely recommend this hotel. The price was very reasonable (paid $53), but it does not include breakfast, so I would recommend paying a little bit more ($6.00) to get it when booking. If you are staying in the hotel to spend the night while in transit, consider the cost of transportation ($30 taxi ride) as it is 30-45 minutes away from the airport.

WORTH THE MONEY
This is the second time I have stayed at Avila and it is as great as the first time I stayed. The room included breakfast and it was very satisfying. The rooms are very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Practical, close to Panama City downtown
Rooms are very clean and relatively comfortable. Hotel is located a taxi ride ($3-$8) away from main city attractions. Breakfast is included. Hotel's restaurant is not really good. I would advice eating out.

It was really good. The only thing was the food for the breakfast and the service on the restaurant. The Hotel it self was great and the rooms were really comfortable. My dad complaint about the size of the bathroom but I think it was ok.
