I’ve stayed here before with no problems, so I wasn’t expecting any trouble this trip. But the motel owner checked us into a room that didn’t lock - which he knew and didn’t get fixed until our second night there. After we discovered this ourselves and informed him. Though I heard him tell the handyman “I told you yesterday.” Meaning he KNEW the room wasn’t secure and he still checked us in and didn’t tell us. When we complained, very uncomfortable that we were given a room that wasn’t secure, the man had a temper tantrum. He was offended that we required a room that locks, that we didn’t trust him when he said “It’s a safe area, trust me.” (I grew up there, it’s fine but not Leave Your Door Unlocked fine.) When my husband told him that he had a work computer with him, the owner just kept saying, “But nothing happened.” Like THAT was the point.
He was verbally aggressive and dismissive. Didn’t let me or my spouse say anything. When I tapped my hand on the counter to make a point, he told me to not hit his counter, to just stand still and be quiet, “Just stand there and wait. Then he told me “You’re quite a bit older than I am, you should have better manners.” Then said I was rude for asking how old he was.
The man screamed at us to “Get out of my hotel,” again because he was offended we dared question him about the door lock. And refused to refund the remainder of our reservation.
So we left. Avoid this place.
