A beautiful room. We really enjoyed the spacious and clean room as well as the balcony view of the Adriatic Sea. The bed was two twin beds pushed together which we were a bit disappointed about, but otherwise great.

Nice and comfortble.
Too bad that Old Amadria Park Hotel Agava was closed but they arranged me into other nice hotel one block behind. Great location.

Fabulous location
Very close to all of the action. Parking nearby for 20 Euro. One of our party suffered a broken wrist in Opatija and the staff was wonderful, making a special meal for her when she returned from the hospital in Rijeka.

Lovely Hotel & Great Staff
The staff are very helpfull and happy to be of assistance. We arrived early and were shown to our lovely room, balcony and seaview as requested. Breakfast was great in the lovely Kitchen area. No pool but the beach is 100m down the hill, but the hire of the sunloungers is VERY EXPENSIVE at over 30€ per day. my car hire was less then that.

Pleasant Hotel In Great Location
Hotel Agava is a pleasant hotel in a great location. The rooms are spacious, but older and the shower had extremely low water pressure. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, though there were times when only one staff person was employed at the front desk and the high demand for his/her attention caused a bit of a wait. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.

Not worth it
the hotel is definitely not worth 4 stars and its way overpriced for what it has to offer. We booked a room for three ppl. As an extra bed we got a sofa with 3cm thick mattress, you could feel metal sticking into your back! The pillows, or better to call things that were supposed to be pilllows were ridicilous. For the second night they did change our room, but even the normal beds were sooooo hard and uncomfy! Oh, and conditining didnt work at all. It was impossible to sleep.

Wonderful Hotel Experience
This is an older Villa appearing building, but it is amazing in appearance, clean and comfortable beyond expectations. Staff is incredibly friendly/helpful and breakfast of hot/cold foods is very good in a comfortable setting. We stayed at Hotel Agava off and on for a few weeks as we transacted business throughout the region, even if we were 1 - 2 hours away, we returned to the Hotel Agava. One night maintenance was going on and they transferred the reservation a short walk to a partner Grand Hotel on the waterfront which was equally great. Another night there was some mix-up with our reservation and we ended up in what was another partner hotel a short walk away that was not as good (we were booking our nightly room late with short notice), the next day the manager was exceptionally apologetic, professional in his guest service skills and offered to make it up to us - and then provided us a really terrific upgrade for two nights if we wanted to stay for the weekend. We did, and then received a email days later again apologizing and offering to assist in any way possible should we return to Opatija! Maybe it is just the superior and better rooms that are great, but the Hotel Agava will certainly be our place to rest and relax wherever we are in the surrounding region. Opatija and Rijeka too have so much to offer from a quiet seaside village with shops and beaches, to city amenties of shopping malls, etc.

The staff were great, breakfast buffet an improvement over the chain hotels, and the price is remarkably low for the amenities and room. Get the ocean view rooms.

Only as a last resort.
when we arrived at this hotel we were told that we would not be staying in a room there, but in a 'sister' hotel down the road. We were told that this was quite normal practise for this group of hotels. We were given what turned out to be vague instructions but eventually found the reception of hotel 2. We were then told that although we could check in at hotel 2 we would be staying in yet another hotel down the street. We declined to check in before having a look at the room. We were taken to a room which had a connecting door to another room. There was clearly another guest there already as we could hear the TV quite clearly, then we heard the other guest sneeze, then fart. We declined to take the room. I went back to the Agava reception. To their credit when I made it clear that we would take a room at the Agava or cancel the whole booking however difficult or messy that would be, we were given an upgrade to a neighbouring 'sister' 5 -star hotel. The room was great, but we had to move back to the Agava the next day. The room at the Agava was what we paid for, i.e. a sea-view room, and quite a reasonable size. However the air-conditioning was pretty poor, and we were in the middle of a Croatian heatwave. There were a couple of noisy nightclubs down the street, and a car park behind the hotel - so we couldn't leave the window open. We had breakfast on the first morning, but it was so bad we couldn't face it the next day. The hotel is in a good location.

A decent room but HORRIBLE room service
The Hotel is located right by the park and the sea promenade, near many stores and restaurants. The room was adequate for a short visit, if a bit small. The front desk staff were pleasant and professional, but what keeps me from recommending this hotel is the HORRIBLE room service. My wife ordered breakfast - scrambled eggs, coffee and iced tea (all listed as available items). What was delivered was a cup of lukewarm coffee, a glass of orange juice and two eggs over easy - ICE COLD. When I asked where the iced tea was, the server offhandedly replied, "Oh, we don't have that, so I brought you juice instead." She tried to further justify why she arbitrarily substituted items, but had no reply as to why she brought cold eggs and the wrong type...instead, she just left! Had to make a visit to the front desk to get someone to come back and take away the inedible food and credit my bill. Parking is also a major concern: the hotel's garage is also used by two other hotels so it fills up quickly (there are no reserved spots for registered guests). Street parking is limited, metered during the day, and resident only at night. There must be better hotel choices in that lovely city - ones that have quality room service and more reliable parking.

Beautiful hotel with fantastic views
We stayed at the Agava the first night in Croatia and were pleasantly surprised. We had a very large room with a view of the Sea (and balcony). The breakfast buffet was nicely presented with a good selection of tasty food. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Definitely go back.

Stylish traditional but up to date hotel in prime location
Traditional hotel but been done up recently. Shower was in bath so can be slippy. The spacious room was very clean but they may have forgotten to clean the balcony. Attractive dining room but, as often in Croatia, 'hot' breakfast items were not kept hot. We had use of the pool at the Hotel Milenij, which was quite enjoyable. Parking was a bit of a problem. We had use of the Milenij Grand Hotel's car park for an additinal daily fee of 90 kunas but this is probably the norm in Opatija as it is very busy and there is a lack of on street parking.

Clean, great location, and the staff friendly. It's prettty outside, but iside is less enticing. The standard price gives you their most spartan room with a post-stamp sized tv and one tiny window; it makes you want to spend the shortest amout of time possible in the room. Not sure why would this hotel be a four-star; surelly felt like 3.

Empfehlenswertes Hotel in Opatija
Das Zimmer mit Meerblick im Hotel Agava hält, was der Name verspricht. Das Interieur ist geräumig und frisch renoviert, das Bad könnte noch ein uplifting gebrauchen. Das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit, das üppige Frühstücksbuffet eine Wucht. Nur der Kaffee lässt noch Wünsche offen, zum Beispiel nach einem Vollautomaten mit Cafe crema oder Cappuccino. Auch wegen der zentralen, aber doch ruhigen Lage bei gesicherten Parkmöglichkeiten ist das Haus eine unbedingte Empfehlung.

Hotellet er en eldre, større villa med flotte rom med sjarm, høye himlinger og klassisk preg på møbler. Vi hadde tre rom med havutsikt, rett ved siden av hverandre (vi var 5 stk), to av dem med balkong. Rommene er svært romslige, med tregulv og fint bad. Restaurant med fin innredning og god frokost. Det er både inne- og uteservering. Hotellet er kun ca 100m til sjøen og strandpromenaden, og rett ved en nydelig og rolig park. Hotellet ligger ved hovedgata, svært sentralt. De ansatte var svært behjelpelige, og strakk seg langt til å finne de beste løsningene for det vi måtte trenge. Ønsker meg tilbake allerede til neste sommer :)

Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Als das nahegelegenen Parkhaus keine freie Parkplätze mehr hatte, könnten wir unser Auto kostenlos im Hotelhof parkieren. Ausgiebiges Frühstücksbüffet.

Great place, old style but newly renovated. Comfortable beds, amazing breakfeast, in the centre and great staff that are really trying to help with any issue you may have. We will book again next time in Opatija.

Bijzonder leuk hotel op een prachtige locatie
Mooi gerenoveerd hotel in klassieke stijl met een prachtige park ernaast. Direct aan de hoofdstraat gelegen, hetgeen enig geluid met zich meebrengt. Parkeren kan in de parkeergarage van het hotel. Zeer attente medewerkers die erg behulpzaam waren bij onze eerder dan geplande aankomst. Prima werkende air conditioning en schone, rustige kamers. Hotel maakt deel uit van een groep zodat je korting van 10% krijgt als je bij andere hotels gaat eten. Zeer uitgebreid ontbijt buffet met verrassende dingen.

Central but quiet
The hotel is in a nice part of Opatija, close to beaches and the city center. Perfect service, great breakfast. The carpark 100 m away was quite crowded but we finally found a plot. Easier to access by small cars. Can recommend the nearby restaurant and bar close to the harbour - Yaucht Club Bar and Restaurant. Very reasonable prices.

Das Horel Team ist Spitze und sehr zuvorkommend. Das Zimmer ist nett und sehr gut beheizt. Uns war es leider ein wenig zu heiß zum schlafen dann und da wir über Silvester dort waren war es leider zu Laut um mit offenem Fenster zu schlafen. Ich denke aber das das sonst kein Problem sein sollte. Das Frühstück war eher amerikanisch angehaucht was uns nicht so angesprochen hat aber es war für jeden etwas zu finden also in Ordnjng. Ich würde aber auf jedenfall noch einmal dort übernachten. Sehr lieber Service, schöne Zimmer und gute Lage machten die kleinen Unstimmigkeiten weg.

Zwei identische Zimmer nebeneinander, selbe Ausstattung, am selben Tag gebucht: 30 % Preisunterschied. Das Personal ist unfreundlich und inkompetent. Da wir als Gruppe verreist sind, haben wir vor Abreise nochmal Informationen telefonisch abgefragt. Vorort erwarteten uns dann ganz andere Konditionen. Die Zimmer sind zudem schmuddelig, explizit das Bad ist weit unter 4 Sternen. Nicht zu empfehlen! Das habe ich im nach hinein von vielen gehört, die häufig zu Tagungen in Opatija sind und mit der gesamten Hotelgruppe Milenij sehr schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht haben. Leider zu spät erfahren.

Viele Personen stehen an der Rezeption, aber weiterhelfen hilft Ihnen keiner! Ganz im Gegenteil: unfreundlich und unkompetent. Die Zimmer sind schmuddelig, vorallem das Bad ist in den Ecken schimmelig. Und das obwohl die Lüftung konstant läuft, nicht abstellbar ist und laut ist. Definitiv nicht zu empfehlen und viel zu überteuert!

Das Hotel ist seiner 4 Sterne NICHT würdig! Das Zimmer war unsauber und kalt. Auf Anfrage an der Rezeption, wie man die Heizung im Zimmer anmacht, kam die Antwort, dieses wäre nicht möglich, aber man könne mir eine zweite Decke bringen. Ich wollte, in meinem Zimmer ein wenig arbeiten und nicht unter zwei Decken liegen!

Nice Hotel close to the water
Hotel Agava is a nice Hotel very close to the water and to the downtown area of Opatija. We enjoyed our stay but we must say that rooms facing the water have a busy road right in front of them and was a bit noisy, especially in the morning when some delivery vehicles and scooters were driving up the street. The lake view is nice but actually, there are some other hotels in the view and you are not located "directly" at the water, as you might imagine.
