First off the area in which Dai-ichi Takimotokan is located in is beautiful; small little onsen town with a few local shops and souvenir shops as well as two combini. The two main attractions Hell's Valley and Bear Park are both worth seeing. Check-in was smooth, and the staff member who helped me was incredibly professional. She checked me in right away and when I asked about making a bus reservation to go back to the airport she helped me make which made gave me a sense of relief. The facilities themselves were amazing, the grand bath was something out of a movie, and the amenities they provide are well rounded, i.e karaoke room, restaurants within the property, a small gaming plaza, table tennis, etc. The only negative that I will say is the smell of the area itself because of the natural sulfur that comes from the mountains which also provides the baths with the rich minerals; this is not the hotel's fault it is a natural occurrence and it'll take a day or so to get use to. Overall this was an amazing accommodation and I highly recommend for any type of traveler, be it their first time in an onsen hotel or repeated travelers to Japan and want to experience a different part of Japan.
