Domus Gemi was an excellent bed and breakfast during our stay in Naples. We stayed in the room just off the main entrance, and the views from the bedroom window kept us entertained for hours. The breakfast included with the room was excellent. This location is perfect for a downtown stay in Naples.

Just go to Positano
We are a Scandinavian couple who stayed here for one night. Naples is generally not a nice city (lol) but we were enroute to Positano and wanted to see Naples for one night as niether had been here before. Honestly, just go directly to the coast - Naples is noisy, chaotic and very unstructured. Also, just as we left the train station a man started undressing on the street and my boyfriend nearly stepped in one of the 100s dog poo’s everywhere - which is funny when you think about it but if you are the type that cannot see the fun in the absurdity then please refrain. The food is great, it’s cheap and the quality is great and the people are great too. However, we were here during the week and ‘out of season’ and the only thing we remember are constantly massive groups (school trips, pensioner groups, groups and groups and groups). The hotel room was at a prime location but was a bit difficult to find as it looks closed down on the outside. Close to anything you would like and the area is not dodgy at all, which was our main requirement. The owner is really nice and accommodating as well.

Excellent choice!
Unbeatable location in the historic area of Naples. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The owner was very kind and helpful. Breakfast was in a cafe across the road. Excellent wifi. The only drawback was the absence of a lift, which meant you had to walk up 6 flights of 10 steps each to reach the place. The owner helped me with the luggage though.

Very nice location. Duomo is steps away and fabulous. Right turn out the doors and there's a back entrance off the Domus Gemi's street. Also don't miss San Lorenzo Maggiore which is left out the doors and first left-- just steps away again. Great tour of underground city. Apartment is perfect. Air conditioned, roomy, nice big bathroom- perfect for a quick trip into Napoli. Lots of good restaurants and cafe's nearby. Pasquale very helpful.

A wonderful hotel perfectly located in the historic centre of napoli. The room was quiet despite being on the street and the air con kept it cool even in 30 degree heat. Room very clean and comfortable but the best part is the owner, pasquale. He cant do enough for you. My girlfriend was pregnant and he made life so easy for us, on our last day letting us keep our bags in the hotel and gave us a key so we could still come and go as we please. I stay in Napoli a lot but this takes some beating. Grazie Pasquale, truly would recommend to anyone

The property was not as easy to find as we had anticipated, as we were dropped off by the cab in the neighborhood because of street construction, and the building and B&B are not well marked. On the other hand, Pasquale the manager was exceptional. He helped with our bags--there are 50 steps to the apartments--as well as with securing transportation for our ride back to the airport, and in all respects genuinely helpful.

Visit Naples and stay at Domus Gemi!
Pasquale was a kind and helpful host, and our room was clean and comfortable. The location was excellent, right in the heart of the historic center, with lots to see and do and close to some of the very best pizza restaurants. Right around the corner you can tour "underground Naples," a system of tunnels that tell a fascinating history of the city. Our room looked out onto a lovely piazza, which we loved, and was not noisy at all with the windows closed. Would highly recommend this inn for those visiting Naples!

comfortable room in the heart of old town Naples
Domus Gemi is located on 1 of the main pedestrian streets in old Naples. There are lots of sights, restaurants, and things to do right outside the door (street noise was not a problem). The top tourist sights and train station are about a 20-minute walk. Pasquale is very helpful although he speaks limited English. The room was clean and comfortable. However, some of the amenities we found during our stay elsewhere were missing, such as a room safe and fridge (remedied with the use of the common area fridge). As the B&B is located in the historic part of Naples, the building is older with no elevator so you must climb 60 steps to get there. This was not an issue for us except arrival and departure but Pasquale assisted us with the luggage. Breakfast is served in the cafe across the street- downside is that you have to be presentable and climb stairs back to your room if you aren't leaving for sightseeing right from breakfast. However, the small breakfast (coffee/drink and pastry) is delicious and it was nice to sit at a table outside and enjoy the surroundings before the street becomes busy with tourists/people.

Excellent Hotel in Central Location
Great location in the historical Via dei Tribunali. Lots of great restaurants in that street, especially two of the best Pizzerias to try the original pizza at its birth city. We love Pasqualli!
We had a wonderful stay in Naples. The room was conveniently located to tourist sites and to the real Naples where average folks live. Although Pasqualli the owner speaks limited English (and we very limited Italian) he did a fantastic job of helping guide us and make us at home. We only wish we had the good sense to stay in Naples as a hub location and travel to Sorrento for the day on the train as opposed to changing hotel again and again.

Not Domus Gemi...but still!
Budget bed & breakfast in a lively part of the centre of Napoli. Unfortunately the Domus Gemi was undergoing maintenance work (we received notification from the owner Alfonso, who is UK based, a few days earlier and his brother Pasquale relocated us to their sister B&B, the Domus Armenio which is approx 5 minutes away. Pasquale was kind enough to help with our bags, which was useful as the room is up 3 flights of stairs, though I think we wore him out! It is a shared apartment rather than a hotel, very new and clean, but basic (but then consider the price being paid). The rooms are separate and secure. The downsides are that, at the time of review, there was building work occurring. This was not attractive but caused us no disturbance however the apartment consists of, I think 2 or 3 rooms, and with no sound insulation we experienced someone talking very loudly late at night which was quite annoying. I would recommend Domus Gemi/ Armenio for budget travel accommodation.

Great stay in the busy heart of Naples
The owner Pasquale really makes the experience special. He is very helpful with suggestions for dining and spots to visit. Also the location is superb as it is in the "heart of the action". The only caution I have is that Domus Gemi is not suitable for the very elderly or those with medical conditions as the room is quite a climb up the stairs. If you love great Neopolitan pizza you will find the best places almost right outside your door. Via Trubunali is very active at all times of the day and night so you never will feel unsafe.

Good value in very central location
Doesn't look very encouraging from the outside - but once we made contact with the host Pascale - he was very welcoming - and helped us with cases up the 60 steps!! Rooms are in the heart of lively and busy centro storico -on particularly busy road - so if you want to feel in the heart of it - with copious options to eat well and cheaply locally - then great place. It is also good for exploring local sights - virtually next door to one of the underground tour bases and easy walk up to archeological museum, or to the station for Pompeii etc. Breakfast is no frills on cafe opposite - coffee and pastry - but all very easy.
Rooms are on 4th floor

Positive: We had a wonderful experience staying at Domus Gemi. Pasquale was very hospitable, making sure we knew about all the sights to see in Napoli. Communication was a bit difficult, as I know very little Italian, and he knew very little English, but he was persistent and pulled up Google translator so we could communicate well. As listed in other reviews, breakfast was at a café across the street and included a pastry and coffee, which was delicious! He was also willing to call to set up a taxi to collect us at 4 in the morning, as we had an early flight out. Possible negatives/To be aware of: The apartment is located on the 3rd (European)/4th (American) floor with no lift, so you get lots of exercise. Payment was to be in cash, which I wasn't aware of. It's just one street over from "Spaccanapoli," the heart of the city, which was exactly what I wanted, BUT it is a 20 minute walk from the train station through narrow streets that are filled with people, cars, and very uneven streets. If you're pulling suitcases (as my travel buddies were), this is not ideal. I had a backpack and had no problem weaving through the streets, but my travel mates weren't exactly thrilled with this walk.

In the heart of Naples, bring Cash
You will never find the hotel by the picture on the website. The brown wall on the side of the hotel picture is Domis Gemi. Our taxi driver knew his way, is the only reason we got there. Pasquale is very nice, he took our bags 5 flights up.. No lift. The breakfast was across the street. A pastry and drink.. The breakfast place opens when the owners get there and the pastries are divered, so don't get there too early or too late, when the pastries are all gone. It is smack dab in the centre of town, close to everything. The only complaint I have is that the owner wanted cash at the last minute , so we had to find a bank in the rain. Apart from that, it was an OK experience.

Perfect location...older bldg but well maintained...Pasquale is very kind. But he speaks very little English. If you can do 3 flights of stairs, I would recommend the B&B. Breakfast is across the street at the caffe bar. Naples is quite chaotic, but most of the people on the streets are not tourists.

amazing!
So, if I ever have to stay in Naples again, I would stay with Domus Gemi and Pasquale. Pasquale was amazing. Greeted us with cold bottled water as we had just walked from the train station (about 15-20 min) and up the 4 flights of stairs (so if you have lots of luggage, it might be hard for you). But knowing Pasquale, he would probably carry it all up for you! Although we had a language barrier, Google translate and Pasquale's limited English was enough to get us through. Room was large, had two balconies, and we felt like we were in a tiny oasis of home! Pasquale let us use the fridge and dining area so after two days of traveling (1 to Capri; 1 to Vesuvius), we just brought pizza and wine from the street we were on and ate in. quite at home! Wifi was sketchy in the room but we just got caught up in the dining room where it was totally fine. Room was super clean and Pasquale took great care of us. There's a drying rack in the common area (we were backpacking so did wash each place we were at). All in all, great! Breakfast was typical croissant and awesome coffee across the street but great for a jumpstart to the day.

Good budget hotel
Domis Gemi is a gem of a budget hotel in an excellent location for visiting Naples, you will really feel part of the local scene. Note that there is a stiff 3 floor climb in an old building, the host speaks only a little English, the shower is very small, and breakfast is coffee and pastry at a cafe across the street. It fronts on a small lively street, but was reasonably quiet, the AC will help if there is street noise. Charming Deco fixtures. Very clean. Ask for the corner room if possible.

Genuinely helpful host
This is a great little refuge in the midst of a gloriously hectic neighbourhood. Pasquale is the best thing about it of course - very genuine host, he carried our heavy bags up the 60 stairs and was always willing to answer questions. Lots of cold water in the kitchen fridge, air con works well, and amazingly for Italy, the wifi worked perfectly in our spacious room. Breakfast is a roll and coffee in the coffee shop on the corner (but we had enough cheese and ham and rolls and cakes for breakfast in Puglia and Abruzzo to last us a lifetime).

The rooms are right in the centre of old Naples in an apartment block built over the Roman agora. Our room was large with a superb view of the church of San Paolo Maggiore. The Duomo is just minutes away and San Lorenzo and the monastery of San Gregorio are steps away. Breakfast is a coffee and croissant in the cafe opposite. Someone needs to mention that the rooms are in a converted apartment on the third floor with no elevator – that’s 60 steps in total. Even with double glazing the room is not quiet – bells wake you each morning.

Great Place in the heart of Napoli
Pasquale's place is really clean, safe and convenient - 15-20 minute walk from the train station. We communicated by email and Pasquale was there to let us in the front door when we arrived after our walk from the train station. He was very pleasant, though spoke very little English so our basic Italian came in handy. 3 keys to get in - one for the ground floor door, one for the apartment door, and one for our room door. We have no problem with Pasquale's place, but we did not enjoy the walk to and from the train station. Naples is very dirty and does not feel safe. There are piles of garbage everywhere on the way from the train station. The streets are very narrow and there are vehicles passing beside you at all times. We took a different route on the way back at one point and were fearful of being robbed or attacked. None of this is a reflection on Pasquale's place - he was great and his place is great. I just want to point out that Naples was very dirty and unsafe feeling, compared to Rome, which was clean and felt safe. Just keep that in mind and if you do go to Naples, please choose Pasquale, he will treat you well and help you feel safe in an unsafe city. Also, the breakfast at the cafe across the street was good, though it is a pastry and coffee only.

great place to stay. great hosts.
There is Napoli Downtown and then there is the old Napoli center which encompasses buildings from the 17th and 18th century. This place is apparently 300 years old. Don't get scared by the neighborhood if it seems a little daunting. The street has Sorbillo one of the oldest Pizza places which was great. You can get here from Napoli Centrale train station via taxi for €15. The price is fixed. The hosts were very kind and were super helpful. It was great to stay in a B&B after staying in hotels.

Great Stay. Staff is Fanstastic
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. There were three of us staying together and the room was the biggest that we had throughout our vacation. Staff was very helpful to point us in the right direction and help us plan our three day stay in Napoli. There is a kitchen and living room available for all to use. We did have a private washroom in our bedroom which was also large. Forza Napoli.
