I don’t even think twice when it comes to choosing the Merchant House because of the vibe it has and the wonderful staff especially Maxwell he’s always welcoming when I’m there.

Nice small hotel. Tucked away. Very close to lots of shopping malls by car of course. Friendly staff. The rooms are huge. All in all it’s a very good property wit lots to offer. The pool isn’t what it looks like in the pictures.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. Breakfast menu has good variety and the food is very good. Staff are wonderful and welcoming. We had afternoon tea in the library and it was excellent. We will be staying there again.

Don't stay here unless u want to be spoilt rotten!
I can't begin to describe the level of attentiveness the staff at The Merchant House bestowed upon me during my stay there. Kudos to the housekeeping supervisor Jalapathi and the FOH crew at reception (especially Ahmed) for their customer service skills and to Veeranan at the spa. I'm so glad I booked this hotel. :) x

Best Hotel In Bahrain.
Beautiful Boutique hotel right near Manama Souq. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The staff is excellent they are kind and helpful they make you feel welcome the entire time. I loved my stay here. The valet parking was great and fast. They also upgraded my room because I am a hotels.com gold member thank you so much! The restaurant food is very good better than other hotels in Bahrain. The only bad thing is that the restaurant is very expensive the price is very high.

The executive suite was spacious. however the rooms are not sound proof and the street noises and other guests noises were very loud in the room. at 3 am the staff was moving chairs and tables in the restaurant and the noise was so high in the room that it woke us up. at 8 am received a call from the reception advising me of a driver picking me up. it was for another room. i will not stay in this hotel next time.

Nothing to complain about. My original room shower had an issue with the heated water. They very quickly moved me to another room that was even bigger. Room service and reception were quick and super polite. Would stay there again for sure. The angus steak in the rooftop resturant was amazing!

This small boutique hotel located in heart of Manama - Bab Al Bahrain, it is crowed area but traffic is smooth, has a fancy reception, and other settings areas such library, rooftop restaurants. The staff are also friendly. You’re going enjoy it if you’re into this type of small, I still enjoy large hotels that offer good room view, but my wife enjoy this small boutique so much.

Best hotel in years
Absolutely amazing hotel in a fantastic location. From the minute you arrive you are welcomed and the reception were a delight. The suite was absolutely fantastic with great attention to detail. Bed was incredible and the fridge drawer mini bar and coffee maker top notch. Food and service in the roof top restaurant impeccable. Didn’t use the small pool as was too hot in august. Only slight downside is no views. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in

Liked: Everything about this hotel is excellent. I recently spent a week at The Merchant House. The service was impeccable. The décor is sophisticated: artwork throughout, beautiful warm corridors and designer furniture. My impeccably clean suite was equipped with high-end linen and towels, built-in drawer refrigerator/freezer, microwave, beautifully finished cabinetry and may other quality amenities. The food was delicious. There is a separate sitting room/kitchen which gives the suite the feel of a cozy little apartment. When I returned to the hotel after a day’s work it felt like home which is perhaps the best compliment I could pay this establishment. Highly recommended.

Housekeeping was outstanding in that anything I wanted I got. The Indian gentleman working the late afternoon/early evening shift whose name I have forgotten was always at my beck and call. Frankly it is impossible to find fault with this hotel. I can only wish it and its staff immeasurable success. It is a place where everyone goes out of their way to not just make you feel at home but assist in every way possible. The very best place to stay in Bahrain. Do not even consider anywhere else.

Bahrain hidden gem
Best hotel I’ve stayed at in Bahrain. One of the best hotels in the region. Room was impeccable, service was amazing, artwork galore, plus the best burger to top it off. I’m very impressed.

The staff was extremely polite and helpful. The decor of the hotel is not like other hotels in the Middle East- it has more of a western/artsy feel. The staff always called us by name, not just when we called, but when we were in person. The food at the restaurant was delicious, the spa was outstanding, the room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. I can't wait to stay there again! It's my new favorite hotel in Bahrain (and I've stayed at many) and one of my favorites that I've stayed at worldwide.

This amazing boutique in the heart of Manama is nothing short of exceptional. From the moment you arrive the staff are on-hand to ensure you experience a relaxing, first class stay. From the valet, and reception staff who recognise you by name to everyone at the Indigo restaurant who will do their very best to please. This hotel is super clean, spectacularly decorated to the highest standards. Fresh made chocolate croissants for breakfast are delicious, but try the chocolate fondant it's divine; you'll thank me later!

Really nice boutique hotel
This is a really nice hotel in a great city centre location for seeing central Manama. Staff are excellent, very attentive, and nothing is too much trouble. We received a complimentary room upgrade and a late check out without having to ask, which was a nice touch. Parking is valet and it only takes 5-10 minutes for the staff to retrieve the vehicle. Room decor is really nice, the rooms are a good size, and the facilities are excellent, and there is even a $1,000 bean to cup Jura coffee maker in every room that makes excellent coffee. Expect normal city centre noises though. It's not a remote location. The restaurant here is very good. It is a rooftop garden setting, again with interesting boutique decor. Due to Covid we were given the choice of 2 options each for breakfast from the a la carte menu, which was more than enough. We also ate dinner here on the launch date of their new seafood menu. Both the bouillabaisse and the sea bream were excellent, as were the ssamyang rib and halloumi and beetroot salad starters. The only downside to the restaurant was that certain wines were not available and there was no draught beer at the time of our stay, but this was a minor inconvenience. Overall, this is a great hotel with good quality rooms, fantastic staff and great food.

Amazing customer service and very friendly staff! We had a great new year staycation, the room was very comfy almost like a studio apartment, nothing fancy tbh but everything was great! We loved the lobby and the library having all the artistic pieces, also we loved Indigo Terrace Restaurant as we had our new year’s dinner there and breakfast the next morning, the outdoor seating area is phenomenal! The restaurant a is a must visit even if you decide not to stay at the hotel.

Well located in Old Town Manama, next to the main Souk. Rooms are big and very comfortable with good seating areas. Some rooms a bit dark with not much natural light due to proximity of buildings. Nice rooftop restaurant and bar. Friendly staff. Small gym and pool. Good library for afternoon tea.

Favorite hotel in the GCC
We spent about 1.5 weeks hopping around GCC states (Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE). The Merchant House was definitely our favorite hotel during our entire trip, and we are comparing it to institutions like the Mandarin Oriental in Qatar and the Taj in Dubai. Everything was absolutely exceptional. Service was attentive. The masseuse at the spa was great. The hotel is awe-inspiring as soon as you step in with the amount of quirky art on the walls. They kept the original concrete structure/pillars from the old building but it's otherwise completely renovated and to a very high standard. The rooms have a slightly nautical feel with round windows and they all have kitchens (not that we needed this) but it was great to have the extra space. The toiletries are by Ren. There is a gorgeous library on the 2nd floor and a rooftop terrace that are perfect for relaxing. When do you step out of the hotel, you are conveniently located next to the souq/Bab al-Bahrain. There's a wonderful traditional cafe called Haji's that's around the corner from the hotel. You get the best of both worlds in terms of being smack dab in the old city while luxuriating in a new, bougie hotel (I mean this in the best way possible). Staying here means you've hit the sweet spot.

first boutique hotel in Bahrain, spared no expense
Outstanding. First quality for everything they use. For starters, an $1800 Jura coffee maker in our room, and I tell you, the best cup of coffee I ever made for myself! They spared no expense in materials, furniture, linens, chefs, door men. For location, if you're a souk shopper, this is ground zero! My longtime jeweler and tailor are now just a short 300feet away. And such a treat with free valet parking in this location too. Their rooftop bar/lounge/dining is impeccably decorated, not to mention quite comfy. You will NOT be disappointed with this choice. You will immediately feel justified in the expense when you arrive, I promise you. Try the smoked duck appetizer! Breakfast made to order, included. -we travel to Bahrain once a month on average, and used to live in Bahrain.
