The Poet Hotel
2/10 Terrible
"So much about this hotel to dislike. 1. Our "King size" bed was just two beds stuck together. While this is common in hotels, they usually cover the join between the two beds enough so that it isn't obvious or uncomfortable. Sleeping anywhere near the middle of the "king" was awful due to the hard sides of the beds creating a hump. This also meant that all outlets and lighting controls were in the center of the bed and so completely useless. 2. The room had an electronic "no not disturb" feature as was common in many of our European hotels. However, it seemed to switch itself off without notice. So even after signaling to the staff that you didn't want the room disturbed, they couldn't tell. Apparently a known issue since there was a supplementary door hanger hiding on the "closet" but no other advice to let a guest know. 3. There were zero drawers for clothes storage. Apparently everybody else who visits this hotel likes living out of their luggage. We don't. 4. The "Moxy Hotel" vibe isn't what we paid top dollar for."

King Property

"The picture of “King” property is misleading as it depicts a grandiose view of several buildings on the park however, the entrance to this property was around the corner on a dismal street. The elevator was a total joke—-it didn’t stop on the 2nd or 3rd floor—-we had to schlep our luggage up one flight or down two! Since I have a bad knee the lack of an elevator to our floor was not revealed on their website at the time of our reservation. The interior space was clean, beds were comfortable, bathroom/shower were updated however—-there was a lack of furniture: no dressers, the nightstands were mini folding tables. The front desk was operational at limited hours. Great location but not for “kings”….pricey!"

"The room was clean and had an opening window on to the street which was great. Good location close to the waterfront and the boating area. Staff spoke English were helpful, cheerful and respectful the breakfast selection good. Parking charges extra for those with a vehicle adds to the per night cost but safe and secure location."

"La ubicación es sumamente buena, el lugar limpio y ordenado. Tiene lo que uno necesita para una estancia corta. La opción de desayuno es básica, es un cupón para ir a un restaurante por un café y un croissant, si vas por varios días si te hace falta una pequeña cocina o algo similar. El la habitación puedes hacer té, café y guardar tus cosas en una pequeña refrigeradora, eso fue genial. Volvería sin duda."

"The room was amazing, we got to stay in 302 which was the corner room and it had a great view of the town and the plaza. The bed was comfy and the space was nice for us Americans that are used to bigger spaces. 😅 Would stay here again if we come back to Italy. They were also doing maintenance upkeep on the building while we were there. It was nice to see them keep up with a historic building like this one."
