Kragga Kamma Game Park

Eastern Cape which includes forests, landscape views and a suspension bridge or treetop walkway
Embark on superb wildlife experiences from the comfort of your own car. Enjoy guided safaris and nature walks at this owner-operated reserve.

Experience close encounters with South Africa’s majestic animals at the Kragga Kamma Game Park. This well-maintained wildlife reserve spreads across about 500 acres (200 hectares) of sprawling savannas and verdant coastal forests. Kragga Kamma Game Park shelters members of South Africa’s famous Big Five animal species in addition to myriad birdlife. Learn about the park’s inhabitants on guided tours, snap memorable photographs and enjoy scenic picnics.

Enter with your own or a rented car and explore the park via the paved road. The animals are familiar with car traffic, which allows you to stop, observe them and take photos. Alternatively, join a 2-hour jeep safari and listen as a knowledgeable guide provides valuable information about the park’s inhabitants and ecosystem.

See herds of free-roaming buffalo, giraffes and rhinos. Admire several species of elegant antelope, including the bontebok, lechwe and nyala. Spot some of the park’s 200 resident bird and waterfowl species. Among these are birds of prey such as the fish eagle, jackal buzzard, sparrow hawk and yellow-billed kite. The park’s waterholes are great locations for birding.

Walk into the heart of an indigenous forest via a suspension bridge and a 1,300-foot-long (400-meter) treetop boardwalk. Come face-to-face with a troop of vervet monkeys and the pretty Knysna lourie bird. Lucky visitors might catch a glimpse of the small blue duiker antelope. Meet and have a photo taken with cheetahs and their cubs on a guided walk.

Bring your own food and take advantage of the designated picnic grounds and public-use barbecues. Stay overnight in a cabin, chalet, lodge or safari tent. Wake up at sunrise for the unique chance to be greeted by wildlife right outside your balcony, door or window.

Kragga Kamma Game Park is located about 12 miles (20 kilometers) west of Port Elizabeth’s city center. It is open year-round. Fees are applicable for entrance with your own car or for the guided game safari. Find more details and accommodations rates on the park’s official website.
