Pros: The property is beautiful and very well maintained, rooms were clean and staff was very attentive and kind. The food was very good and so were the drinks, bartenders were amazing and service in the restaurants was excellent. The views on the beach and from the infinity pool are spectacular. Can’t beat the sunsets in Ixtapa. It’s a short walk to the pier where there are shops and water taxis over to Isla Ixtapa. The coffee bar was a nice treat and the lady working there was always so kind. Cons: I will preface this by saying; We went during Holy Week and it was very crowded. You had to get a chair by 7am or there was nowhere to sit. However I feel this would be the situation at any resort during such a busy week. You also had to get in a line by 8am to get a reservation for dinner. All of the hot tubs on the property are adult only and they never opened the swim up bar while we were there - those were two amenities that I specifically looked for when I booked the trip. We went over to the sister resort a few times to use the swim up bar but the chair situation existed there as well. It also is less Americanized than other resorts I’ve been to and this isn’t necessarily a con, my kids got to experience a lot of Spanish and understand what it feels like to actually be in a foreign country. However none of the activities were translated to English which made it hard for them to participate.

As usual there are a number of staff that do not speak English and do not even try. The rest of the staff are 5 star. If there is a billing problem no one knows who is in charge and run for cover. The front office staff cannot come to a solution that is fair to all.

They advertise as a more adullt resort but there were children on the bar cave in the pool. Also they don’t include a La carte dining every night with your stay and you have to wake up by 8am to reserve your dinner. Very inconvenient

everything seemed broke. Hot water was out of control. Cooler, not a refrigerator Needed attention twice and died on the last day. coffeemaker had to be replaced twice. The one time we went to Jacuzzi it was turned off. Toilet flushed VERY erratically. A beautiful hotel that just didn't work over a period of eight days. The steak barbeque featured the toughest steak I have ever eaten. The lower-level staff performed excellently, but the farther up the level to management, the incompetence, rose.

Beautiful Views and Friendly Staff
My stay at Azul Grand was just what I needed-a relaxing time in warm weather where I could hear and see the ocean all the time. The staff, to a person, were among the most friendly and helpful I have encountered in my travels. The rooms are large but bare bones, but the incredible deck overlooking the Pacific are a big plus. I was disappointed in the food and the limited reservation options at the restaurants other than the buffet-which was abundant but only ok. I was surprised they didn’t have a manicurist at the spa. The beach area was small and rocky. This is definitely a family oriented resort, so if you are looking for a more adult experience this would not be for you. There is an adult only pool.

Food was best I've had at a resort. Majority of people staying were local to Mexico and cook traditional Mexican food which is all outstanding but if you're looking for Americanized food you'll be disappointed. Most staff speak little English which may present some issue if no one in your party speaks Spanish. Overall my expectations were blown out of the water, really enjoyed the amazing staff, food, drinks and the rest! I was shocked to find Don Julio and Grey Goose among the liqour available to all inclusive and Indio, modello and Victoria among beer options. We'll be returning in the future. They have 3 pools, one adult only, one more geared to kids and an infinity pool overlooking a gorgeous view of the ocean. The hotel killed it in room placements with every room having an amazing view of the ocean from your room. You'd be hard pressed to find a better deal in the area, much higher quality than the sunscape nearby.

I love the sunsets as everyone was different. I did not enjoy the frustration of the lack of any English . There should be someone in the buffet, fine dining, front desk and room service that has a reasonable amount of English. Usually the adult pool is monitored by a lifeguard to control noise level of heavy drinkers. There were 2 days that we left the pool because of noisy drinkers. I have been going to Azul Grand for 8 years,two times a year and this was the most disappointed we ere.

Everything was great food was good, rooms are really nice and taken care of! Service was also great, beautiful view of the Island Only con was if you would like to be allowed on property before 1:30 pm you have to pay an additional 700 pesos ($45) per person, they basically tell you to leave until 1:30pm or wait out in the hot weather. Expedia did not state this extra charge or was I ever notified while booking
