“First Class Service”

Service in all areas of hotel excellent, so very good value for money. Hotel running at about 30% capacity, so not sure if this level of service would be maintained with higher occupancy. Staff and management made me feel very welcome at all times, no question was too much trouble. Restaurant and spa also very good indeed.

“Best that I could hope for”

The Royal Orchid is a few miles from Hampi which we visited over a two day period. It is based in a semi rural part of the country in a small town. It is the best that could be found near the site. I was surprised to read the reviews about the service as we were very well looked after. The rooms were large and had a lot of electronics. The only trouble is, this needs a lot of maintenance and I could see areas where they could do better - the screen between the bedroom and the bathroom was not particularly clean and my sister had a line of ants in her bed. The food was good - we stuck to Indian food. We took a guide that the hotel recommended but we were slightly disappointed by him. Hampi can be magical but he rushed through it all and we suffered a little because of the heat. Hospet is another story. We came by car and we had a scary journey in. The road to Hospet is badly kept. The road is lined with trucks going to port. We arrived in Hospet at night and we were stuck in a traffic jam for over two hours and the roads were totally chaotic. I would recommend any traveller to take the train and get the hotel to pick them up.
