Warm welcome and lots of extra touches
From the warm welcome, we enjoyed our stay in a rural location but still within 5 km of the town, shops and restaurants. A "continental" breakfast was an added pleasure the following morning before check out.

Very welcoming hosts, beautiful cozy room with its own private deck area which was lovely to sit and have a morning cuppa. Views were wonderful also. Stayed only one night so didn't get to use spa pool and Sauna 🙁 but will definitely return in summer for few days as a treat. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

Simply amazing. The hosts are delightful and the surroundings, views etc are beautiful. There are many unexpected surprises here with unique touches. Comfortable bed and warm room. Fantastic amenities and even a shop with outstanding art and gifts from local crafts people. I will definitely return here.

We had a lovely night in Cambridge in a lovely setting in what was previously stables. We were only staying one night and were delighted with the room we had. It was beautifully decorated with lots of lovely toiletries. We were left food for breakfast which was ample to start our day (yogurts, cereals, biscuits and peaches). We had use of the swimming pool and spa. We had the ‘basic’ room so would have loved to see the other rooms/apartments. Highly recommended.

Quiet and peaceful with all the extras. The pool area in summer is wonderful. You need a car as its not situated in the town. Would stay again.

Thank you for this review. As advertised, we are 5 mins drive from the centre of town. While this can prove inconvenient for those without a car, we always offer to take guests into town to a restaurant or to pickup groceries. Located 5 mins from the hustle & bustle of the town centre means we have a quiet & peaceful setting with gorgeous views. We look forward to seeing you in the near future.

Highly recommended
Our stay at Huntingdon was far too short :-( We absolutely loved it. A great getaway for a weekend for couples. There a great collection of books and magazines to read. You can either sit out on the balcony and drink a glass of wine or curl up on the couch and read a book or watch the telly. It's very private and very peaceful. Great views looking out over the valley. If you're visiting make sure you take the 5 minute drive up to the Maungakawa Reserve. A lovely area for a walk.

Lovely stay - definitely recommend!
Amazing stay!! The hostess was very accommodating and upgraded us at no charge from The Stall to The Loft. She was there awaiting us as soon as we arrived to show us where to park and how to use everything in the apartment space. Breakfast was available for us to make in the room. She ensured the room was tidied while we were out sightseeing for the day. She also made sure the room was heated and lights were turned on for our return. She provided recommendations on things to do while in town and en route to our next location.

EXCEPTIONAL This property is set atop of a hill, a mediterranean style home and an array of incredible views, gardens, and stunning buildings. Robyn greets us with a gorgeous warm smile and takes us to the Stalls explaining that this is the smallest of their rooms available, we walk in and say how lovely it is. As we chat we discover there is a Loft available and the North and South Stables available also. I look a little confused and explain this is the only room available on Expedia. It told us it was the last room, which was not the case. Before dark we take a walk around the property and see all the different areas of the retreat. The bird sanctuary, pool, spa, sauna, veggie and herb garden for use by guests, various seating areas for appreciating the view and so much more and the very capable Andy who, after pruning all day was catching the chickens to put them to bed for the night. A great sleep. Breakfast is included, a fridge full of distilled water, milk, orange juice, homemade preserves, butter, Yoghurt and everything we needed for our full continental breakfast, including a Nespresso Machine. We cannot recommend this place highly enough. The location, the style and sophistication that is so unassuming it makes you feel like your coming home. Robyn and Andy have nailed the brief offering perfection and hospitality we have never experienced before. Amazing!!!!! The property and the accommodations were absolutely wonderful. Totally exceeded expectations. The service was beyond compare- the hosts seem to have anticipated our every need and stocked the loft with everything. There was literally nothing negative that I could say about this place. Would love to stay again if I ever come back to New Zealand.

This property is absolutely gorgeous - as much as the natural surroundings it is in. It felt idyllic yet is only 5 or so minutes from town. Fully equipped for a weekend of self care it includes a spa, sauna and pool. The room was beautifully organised and while The Stall lacks a kitchen, it has microwave and eating facilities complete with outdoor dining. A full ensuite completes the room and there is nothing you could want for - everything has been thought of. The hosts were lovely - helpful, gracious and available but also hardly seen. Thanks for an amazing weekend of unwinding.

Stunning setting and very professional host. She went out of her way to assist us with the details of our activities itinerary for the area. Unit had a lovely private terrace that was a very pleasant spot to enjoy our meals. Would certainly return should we be lucky enough to have the opportunity to do so.

As per all our advertising, this basic guest-room is intended for those people simply needing a bed & shower for the night. Perhaps the bigger, better apartment (The Loft) would have suited your four night stay better as it has a food preparation area & cooking facilities :) We appreciate your custom, all the best to both of you.

This gorgeous, well appointed property was by far the best place we stayed in our 3 wks in NZ. Robin's attention to detail is marvelous. Warm &welcoming. Lavender accoutrements to use. Sauna, pool and hot tub. Excellent breakfast w fesh fruit. Beautiful country setting with rolling hills in the background.

This was the last place we stayed on our NZ tour and was a great place to relax and unwind. We had the loft apartment which had everything you could possibly need. We were made to feel most welcome and Robyn helped us book our kayak trip to see the glow worms on our last night. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing.

Neat overnight or longer stay
This retreat deserves a longer stay by overseas visitors - what a great place to treat as a base to explore the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. We stayed in The Stall, which is a very comfortable room with all amenities. Lovely grounds and very peaceful.

We had the smallest room (a bit tight for suitcases) but it had all of the accoutrements that we needed. Breakfast was delightful, the pool area beautiful, flowers and birds welcoming, and it was in the countryside yet close to town. Robyn gave us great tips on local sites and events.

Luxury Retreat!!
Amazing experience staying at Huntington Stables and a great spot just outside Cambridge! We were greeted on arrival with a very warm welcome from Robyn and provided with a full overview of the facilities. The room was immaculate and some great little touches with provisions available! Cannot recommended highly enough and will definitely be back soon!

Gosh - I wish you had left a name, date of stay or just the room you stayed in so we could look into this. I'm incredibly sorry to hear we didn't meet your expectations. We haven't changed anything so I will need to wrack my brain as to what 'touches' were missing. If you stayed in the North or South Stable then you definitely would have found them to be of luxury standard. If you stayed in the Loft then you would have found this to be mid-range/comfortable rating. But if you stayed in the Stall, then this is our basic guest-room intended for those guests simply needing a bed & shower for the night. These rooms are carefully advertised, described & photographed accordingly to represent the differences. I am truly sorry you were disappointed. If you could be specific we would be able to look into this & make changes where necessary. We truly appreciate your custom.
