Fantastic stay and awesome staff. Called front desk about clogged toilet and maintenance came within 5 minutes. Only critique was that the rooms in the beach house (pool view/beach view) rooms were separated by a locked door and you can hear everything in the next room. We lucked out with a family that also went to bed early. Overall facilities were fun and clean with lots of dining options. Location was perfect as well.
Buyer beware of how this Hotel handles Charges and also the transactions will drop in and out of your bank ledger with no communication or reason. Made reservation in January for stay in May. Put down deposit and at checkout deposit was never applied to bill. Checked my Bank statement in January and amount changed from deposit to $1
Friday Before I arrived the hotel on Saturday hotel pulled $500 for room rate was that$399irst night. About $150 over rate,
Also, when I made reservation in January there was a mix-up on room. We wanted a gulf view and was not given one. I called H hotel direct, and they said we could have a gulf view, but rate was higher, No Problem....what they did not disclose is a upgrade fee of $70 per night. I've called Hotel and asked to speak to manager.... sent straight to voicemail and now still waiting on response.
At Check-in front desk staff is very sterile and not very pleasant. Spending close to $2000 a smile would be nice. They have at least three restaurants' but during afternoon hours only food available is at bar .
The resort is not layed out well. The baggage carts are not near front lobby but in a hideaway near back building. The hotel is having major maintenance being performed and if you want to take a nap in the afternoon in your room good luck, Major power tools above my room . Sounded like a grinding wheel for hours. Talked with front desk and they did nothing. $400 a day on vacation and can't take a nap. STAY AWAY
Beautiful place, easy to navigate the grounds, staff was very friendly and helpful, location is great if you want to spend time on the beach, several pools that are convenient to rooms, only wish there was some protection from the sun at the pools (umbrellas?).

Property was amazing. Right on the beach, walkable to restaurants and shopping, clean, great food, great pools,great entertainment at night for kids, friendly staff, very impressed all around. Best hotel I've ever stayed at

The location is great. Staff was friendly. The room was nice. Bed was comfy. The only issue was the noise til the morning hours and the coffee maker in the room was not working.
We had an absolutely amazing stay at The Island!
It was extremely clean each staff member we passed by spoke and was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The pools were very clean as well! There was a few little restaurants food trucks and bars on the property. They had live music and fun things for the kids such as mermaid appearances.
We loved this resort and will definitely choose it any time we come to Fort Walton.

They charge you more when you check in than what you’ve already prepaid. When you book and pay there shouldn’t be any hidden fees.

We booked our stay through a travel app. We bought a package that included 2 free breakfast buffets each day of our stay and the hotel would NOT honor it. Also, there was very LOUD construction each day from 9am-6pm that we were not aware of prior to our booking. It was so loud we had to leave the room. No relaxing vacation, no naps, unless you slept at the beach or by the pool. We were told about the construction by the hotel staff AFTER we had checked in and given them our credit card info. Very disappointing. We have previously stayed at this property and had no problems but we will most likely not be returning.

Old and under construction which was not disclosed on booking. Front desk staff is curt and made us feel unwelcome. Phone didn’t work. Door didn’t lock on patio so banged all night in winds. Way over priced for what you get. Good food options and on the beach. VPS, the airport is 7 miles away but Uber is 90 bucks. Flights out of FWB are limited or not available daily. We won’t be back. Please learn how to make your guest feel welcome upon arrival. It sets the tone for the rest of your trip.

Loved the amenities at this property. The grotto swim up bar, and outdoor bar and grill. My only negative is that when entering our room it was not appealing at all. There was all white and gray and I expected a tropical feel, it was not exciting at all, very sterile looking. I've stayed at other beach side resorts and this one was a let down with the inside decor.
Do not book here. The property is old and run down. The room was super small and did not even have a closet. We could not stay there. Hotel did agree to refund our money. We were on our own to find another hotel. Expedia was no help.

It was have been a great place to stay if they would have given a heads up about the massive amount of construction taking place. They have a card saying it will start at 9am and go up til dusk, Monday through Saturday. They were hammer drilling and working away at 8am several days which was very disturbing. Everything else was honestly great.

I reserved a Gulfview room When arriving received a bottom floor room in which you could not see the golf. Hotel was under construction, had windows and equipment on patio of room. Was very disappointed on this aspect of things, however they did have nightly entertainment, and was clean, most staff were very pleasant, easy access to beach

The property is very well taken care of and constantly cleaned. The pool area and grotto are really nice. Plus direct access to the beach and location right next to the boardwalk is great. But if you're on the 5th floor and there's a wedding reception in the 6th floor.... be prepared to stay up late.

I enjoyed the location of the resort, close to the beach. I payed to have breakfast included but it was no such thing you still had to pay for breakfast every day so I am not sure why they mention breakfast is included when it’s not. Also the chairs you see in pictures in the beach are not part of the resort. They fail to mention that those are not included. When you arrive those chairs are separate from the resort and they charge about 55$ to rent the chairs for the day.
Beaches were beautiful, but the property was under construction and very disruptive, drilling The floors right above our room construction workers walking all over the place drilling all hours of the day and on the weekends. food was below average. Weight staff and room keeping staff staff were very polite. Property was very dated. Would not recommend this property to anyone.
