Great Villa!
Amazing property where you will be available to be close to wineries and beautiful towns by short driving distance. This Villa is beautiful, and well maintained. The pool area is great specially for the terrific view. If you want to have fun and the same time to enjoy the beauty of this area and relax with not TV in the room, this will be a fantastic option. If you think to rent a car, I will suggest to get a small car tp. make the driving around to small towns (including to access the property) easier. Also,

Beautiful property....but...
+.. Location, beautifully kept historic villa, superb lush green gardens, exceptionally clean and very tastefully decorated rooms and lovely pool.Very helpful staff with organising rental bikes.Staff are very willing and do their personal best to accommodate guests wishes. -... Although the friendly and hard- working restaurant staff were running the soles off their shoes, dinner and breakfast service was unacceptably slow. For dinner service , there was just one poor lady taking the orders and one young guy ,who had been already working very very hard all day. Guests were complaining about having to wait for water, drinks, food and ripples of descent went through the gentry. This was the case at breakfast too. This grossly under- staffing was apparent everywhere, from check-in ( rooms not ready and waited for 1 hour , drinks were offered to other waiting guests too) no towels at the pool, not enough sunbeds for all guests and painfully slow restaurant service. A MUST for this hotel is to put tea/ coffee making facilities in the room as having to wait so so so long to get a morning coffee at breakfast is ridiculous. Also scheduling more staff for busy periods is absolutely necessary as what could be termed as the fantastic ‘hardware’ is let down by the weary ‘software’ The owners/ management should address these issues to support and train the staff they have and give them a significant pay raise for having to take the brunt from ‘h’angry’ clients.Step up management.

Beautiful stay at Villa le Barone
My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at Villa let Barone. The grounds are beautiful. The location was perfect for soaking in the Chianti experience. Our room was charming, with a beautiful view of the Tuscan hillside. Service was exceptional. We were recommended a great wine tour. The breakfasts were great. We stayed for two nights and dined their both nights. The experience was thoroughly enjoyable.

We stayed in many 5 star hotels before, and even that this hotel doesn't have 5 stars, the experience was out of this world. So wonderful that we want to come back next year! It is gorgeous, peaceful, relaxing and we love the owners! Our experience was so fantastic, we didn't leave the hotel grounds for 3 days. The service is immaculate and very relaxed, and almost invisible, which makes you feel as you would stay at your family's villa. The words can not express this experience. Also, the hotel interiors look so much nicer than on the photos. This place is so beautiful and peaceful I almost don't want to advertise it and keep it as a secret, so it will not get overcrowded with the wrong crowd. I would not want to see instagrammers photoshooting there for the entire day or to share this place with tourists who can't keep their voice down. Our stay was wonderful also thanks to the sophisticated clientele. Absolutely wonderful place.

Dear Patrycja, thank you for the high marks, but specially for the comments you make about Villa le Barone; it is exactly what my wife and I have been striving to make out of our family Villa: an old patrician house open to friends who are used to understanding beauty and authenticity in relation to the gardens, the house and the services. I must say that it takes a certain set of persons to understand all of the above and that- while all our Guests are valued- we host with more pleasure some than others. In your case, you will always be a value Guest and Friend of Villa le Barone. Sincerely, corso Aloisi de Lardrel

Loved our stay here! Travelling all the way from Australia this place was unique, boutique and just amazing. The views, the people, the rooms all excellent. We loved the self service bar, various sitting areas, we rented e bikes and did a fantastic ride along a route they suggested. We had lunch around the pool area and its just a short walk from Panzano and other wineries. Would love to come back for a longer stay!

Dear Elle, many thankd for your kind review. I am happy that you enjoyed both our place and the Chianti region. Ideally, to set in in our place, you would need a stay of 3 to 5 days. Coming for just one might is far from enough to appreciate fully our territory. Even though the journey from Australia is long, we hope to see you soon again here. An interesting place to stay
The villa itself has some distinguished history and we were pleased to meet the Count who owns the property and was very friendly and welcoming. The view from the pool is spectacular and it is a lovely spot to relax and to take a walk through the gardens to enjoy the Tuscan countryside. There are some nice restaurants not too far away - we were huge fans of La Cantinetta di Rignana, which is a 15min drive and which we liked so much we went twice. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant as the set menu at 45 euro per person was pricey and we didn't need three courses. The room itself is ok. We were in a standard room with old brick floors with no floor coverings. This meant constant brick dust and brushing off of feet before climbing into bed. The bathroom was the biggest we came across in Europe, but the shower is poorly designed, resulting in pools of water on the floor. There is an honesty bar by the pool and in the main house, which we thought was a nice touch, but at 8 euro for a self-service beer we found the prices insulting. There are also a lot of rules or expectations about dress code, no outside food or drinks on property, etc. All of this is ok, but for a place advertising itself as 'luxury' accommodation, we found it a bit out of touch with what is on offer elsewhere for less. Either the accommodation needs an upgrade or the prices need a downgrade as our expectations were disappointed.

Response from Corso on 7 Aug 2019
Dear Andrew, thank you for having taken the time to review your stay at Villa le Barone. Thank you also for your remark about the shower ... I will investigate the room that you were occupying and try and correct the positionning of the shower. In typically Tuscan houses, ceilings are made with beams and floors are made with terracotta bricks ... expect marble floors in Rome and wooden floors in the alps ... at Villa le Barone rooms and floors are cleaned thoroughly every day and if you choose to go barefoot you must expect to have a bit or bricks microparticles directly on the bottom of your feet. Putting a rug or carpeting the floor would really not be a good solution. I am glad you enjoyed the gardens ... they are manucured by several gardeners, I am glad you enjoyed the pool ... it is brand new, made of travertine marble, heated when necessary, filled with salt water for the sake of your skin ... it has cost a sizable amount of money. Along with many othe amenities you do not mention this is what I am paying for and this is what our Guests need to pay for since if I do not make a sufficient margin I will not be able to offer you a beautiful pool in a beautiful garden, a very nice tennis court, nice clean rooms and bathrooms (yours was not one of our most elegant), and top quality food. As for rules they are basic and related with the comfort of other Guests: noise level at the pool to a decent number of decibels, Guests not to come to evening dinner dressed for the pool, and Guests asked not to bring outside food on the premises and eat it picnic wise .... it so happens that we have cooks, maids and kitchen personnel at your service. You chose not to eat at the Villa; I am totally ok even though I believe you missed something. The price is 45€ for a luscious 4 course meal, but 36€ if planned in advance. Sincerely

Dear Guest, Villa le Barone kis a very old family Villa which has become open to Guests. We had to adapt to the walls as we are not allowed to make structural changes. All rooms are taken care of with the same care, but some have large bathrooms and some smaller ones. Of course, prices are adapted t every situation and next time you will be offered other possibilities. We look forward to hosting you again. Corso Aloisi de Larderel

We are definitely in one of the most beautiful spots in Tuscany, atop of hill with awesome views on grapevines, olive trees, valleys and hills and- of course- the ancient San Leolino Abbey. Our heated, salt water filled, travertine marble lined infinity pool is in the middle of all this beauty for you to enjoy with a Chianti wine glass in your hand and the prospect of a gorgeous and tasty dinner! Dear Christopher, thank you for having come to Villa le Barone and thank you for your review. Let me disagree on one point of your review: besides the fact that there are no Michelin starred restaurants close to Villa le Barone, our restaurant serves excellent classical Tuscan recipes made with the best in season fresh products and accompanied by the excellent Chianti classico wines of the surroundings ... now, if you want to eat "sole meunière" with Chardonnay or the last of Yotam Ottolenghi's Tuscan interpretations you are right and might as well eat outside ... but please remember that food is part of discovering and understanding the territory you are in. Dear William, thank you for your review; you are right: Villa le Barone is an old patrician family home decorted with care with authentic family furniture and fitted with modern comfort .... but modern design would not really fit in ... I might as well put plastic roses in the garden or a blue plastic lining to the pool instead of travertine marble! Authenticity, beauty and friendly service is what we provide to our Guests. Hello and thank you for your review. Our new infinty pool in travertine marble containing heated salt water is very nice and we are glad you enjoyed it as well as our rose gardens and food. We are in an old Villa and all rooms are different ... and cheaper rooms are those which are smaller :=))) ... but all are perfectly taken care of for their furnishings, fabrics and furniture. Bed hardness is a personal taste .... we are supplying Simmons mattresses generally medium hard with a "topper" sort of thick coverlet to give a soft touch. We are very sorry you did not feel comfortable. We hope to host you again at Villa le Barone. Sincerely, Corso Aloisi de Larderel

This country house hotel offered us the best service out of all the places we stayed in Tuscany. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone, chambermaids included gave us a smile. The owners, the count and countess popped in and made a point to saying hello to guests, which was a very welcoming touch. And the pool is simply divine. So relaxing!!

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Le Baron, the hotel is stylish, comfortable, quiet, relaxing and the staff are attentive but not obtrusive. As you might expect in Tuscany the food and wine at the hotel was excellent. The hotel had beautiful grounds and is a sanctuary to return to after a day in the Tuscan countryside.
