Pros: Tasty food, unlimited drinks, cool events. The VIP pool was nice to have since there were hardly any kids in it. VIP access also made breakfast and lunch more enjoyable being able to eat at the restaurants without reservations. The English speaking staff were mostly happy to help us learn some Spanish here and there. Cons: Even though we had VIP they did not give us the VIP Rooms. Our room was right against the main pools, as were most rooms. The pools were blasting music until 2am, and the families would go out and get noisy by 8am. Landscaping started at 8am as well with loud machines. Our rooms were extremely basic, they could use a lot of work touching up trims and other areas also. Buffet was not all day, so if you wanted a meal at odd hours it was not easy to accomplish. Late night food options was pretty much only French fries. I thought it was supposed to have boogie boards and surfboards, but they didn’t. Most staff spoke decent English, lots of them didn’t speak any. We were the only English speaking guests at the whole resort during our stay. The bordering areas outside of the resort were dirty beaches and barbed wire fences. Side note, sunscreen was $35 for a bottle of rub on spf30

While the public areas of this resort are decent, there were a lot of issues in terms of administration and systems that made for a negative experience for us. For context, we stayed only one night as a stopover on our way from Monteverde area to points further south. The check-in process was a disaster. We arrived right at 3pm check-in time and there were 6 lines of people, with only staff and no apparent system to connect the lines with the staff. Then 2 staff members disappeared (as the lines grew longer)...ultimately it took us nearly 40 minutes to get checked in. The check-in staff were kind of dour--but I'd blame that on management for putting them in a bad situtation... We also chose to stay here because @Expedia says they have laundry on site, which is NOT true. I know that the property was formerly a Doubletree and in our room there was a big empty space in the bathroom where a W/D clearly used to be...but was no longer. And while the public ares look new and nice, our room had chipping paint, cracked walls, dirty grout, swampy A/C....and the wifi signal wouldn't reach the room. It also wasn't made clear that if you only stay one night you can only access one restaurant--the main buffet style one, which was disappointing. The food was not bad, but very average. Also, the pools close at 8, which we found odd... Overall it was overpriced, and sub-par compared with similarly priced all-inclusives in other places. I wouldn't return.

Hotel fiesta offers lots of pools, great restaurants and shows. The staff is friendly and plentiful. They care about the customer experience, but the building is old and has lots of issues, concrete around the pool is crumbling. No one sits on the beach or swims on the water due to water pollution. The family suites have a great floor plan, but need some updating.

I read many of the other comments and I was pleasantly surprised by the resort. My check in time took <5 min (it was a Wednesday in May though). The resort was clean and the staff was very friendly. I was pleased that they doubled up staff were needed to always have someone that spoke English available. The food and drinks were acceptable. Overall the resort look a little “tired” but renovations are in progress. I would come back.

Everything is great but the all inclusive is not quite true, they advertise a spa and a few other things on their website but do not show that they are not included. They just give a vague description that say “some services may be extra”. Though the spa is included in the amenities list when you book but don’t show an extra cost.

The property is a bit rundown and is in need of a makeover. The elevator in particular was a bit old and was afraid we might get stuck so just decided to use the stairs instead. The safe wouldn't open at times and had to call the staff to fix. Drinks from the bar were a bit watered down. The food from the buffet was not seasoned and limited. However, there are two sides to the buffet and the other side was actually good as the opposed the other side which was inedible. On another note, the staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all we had an enjoyable vacation with good tours. But probably would not go back to this resort.

Thanks to expedia I got VIP access, however some members of the hotel staff were not nice at all, such as fernanda in front desk. And christian in the snacks both were rudes. In the other hand Elias, Shirley, Hellen did the difference, with excellent customer service and going beyond of expectations.

I stayed here often when it was a Hilton property. It was perfect then. Now, I spent more time in lines waiting for something. Check in was slow and extremely hot. Staff was generally unfriendly and uncaring. Like they were doing me a favor. I did meet several workers who were good. The rest, not so good. In line to check in, in line for breakfast, in line at the only outside bar, in line for check out. And I’m paying for this. Understaffed.

Check in time took an hour standing in a hot, humid area. Very disorganized and disjointed. There is a nighttime bartender on the beach that is angry and should not be working at all. Short, chunky older man with bad manners. Food is average at best. There are two shining stars. The manager of Mackerla and a waitress named Francis. Very nice people, professional, and helpful!

The property, pools and rooms were very nice. The staff was excellent and very friendly. I have coeliac disease and the staff in all the restaurants made me separate food and took very good care of me. Highly recommend.

Rooms were not ready until two hours after checkin. Food from the buffet was terrible. Property is not well taken care off, paint is falling off the doors, bed sheets were stained and dirty. I can go on for days. It’s like the owners just don’t care anymore. Oh yes and the pier has been out of service for years and it’s literally falling apart. Just stay home, you’ll have more fun.

I give it a 5 star rating for a 3 star level resort. The accommodations was serviceable but if you are expecting a Hilton or Marriott resort level then your expectations are to high. We did not expect a 5 star level resort so we were very happy with the low key atmosphere, good quality of food and servicable (junior suite) room. The service was great for a non Spanish speaking guest. The value for the price was well worth the experience and we would go back. The beach is for enjoying the scenery and the sound but not for water sports as the slope creates larger waves. Lots of swimming pools to enjoy and stay cool. We did not pay for premium but premium provided an exclusive restaurant and pool areas. Premium did not provide a greater advantage or value from my perspective but I did not see their room quality. Resort has wifi that worked great. For outside the resort wifi, I went to the ICE store and got a KOLBI SIM card for my hot spot. The ICE store did not have English speakers but all worked out great. Again, we had a great experience but we did not have 4 or 5 Star Resort expectations.

Good was OK, we were not able to make reservations to none of the restaurants as they were “Booked” even though we got there on a Sunday and there wasn’t any availability until the following Friday, it would have been helpful if we needed to make reservations that far in advance as we reserved out rooms 3 months ahead of time, other than that the resort was pretty good. The spa lady was phenomenal.

The hotel is old and smelled of mold. It was clean for the most part, however due to the repairs that were made (adding caulking over old caulking without scraping it first) made areas look dirty. There was also a lot of dusk on the ceiling fan in the room. The biggest issue was the food was horrible. We couldn’t find anything that would make it worth our money so we checked out after the first night. It appeared they had a lot of nightlife activities which would have been a plus but we didn’t stay long enough to find out.

The amenities on the property are nice. The food is the same each day at the restaurants ( you need a reservation to get in to them), but the specials & buffet change everyday. The tour company just outside the property was amazing if you want to do explore the area I would recommend going to talk with them and they will set everything up for you for transportation and where are good places to go.

Hotel was beautiful, I booked a king bed and a queen, but I received 2 queen beds instead, beds were very comfortable, room was clean, staff was friendly. CHECK IN process was incredibly awful, we had to wait long lines in the theatre instead of the regular front desk area... I paid to get in earlier, after I paid the guy told me I was gonna get my room key until 3pm, if he told me that to begin with I would definitely not had paid $30 x person to get in 2 hrs earlier.... i feel like there is a lack of communication 😕 we were premium, we didn't know what it meant, nobody expained anything regarding its benefits, we asked a lady by the pool, while walking where the nearest restaurant was and she told us that bc we were premium we could go to the restaurant in front of the pool but we had to make reservations, so we went back to the hotel to make reservations and they said that restaurant is booked for the next 2 nights, they said "why didn't you do the reservation during checkin?" I said well Nobody TOLD us! FOOD was delicious, only one day lunch was very plain, no salt or flavor, but other days it was very good. Drinks were ok, ofcoarse the quality of the alcohol is very cheap... night show was very fun, pools were beautiful 😍

We stayed in the premium section with VIP access. The room was very dated and the smell was awful, like mildew/mold. We had to keep the windows open for fresh air whilst the air conditioners were running. The bathroom was not very clean, dust on doors and hair of previous guests in the bath and on the floor. The bathtub is really small. Overall, the rooms need repair and an upgrade/modernisation. The food in the premium restaurants (breakfast and lunch) was ok-ish but nothing special. For dinner you need to book the premium restaurants well in advance, so we ended up in the buffet section and couldn't use our vouchers. The food in the buffet zone/section was between ok and good. Some of the pre-made food was overcooked but the Octopus, freshly cooked on the spot, was really good. Staff are very attentive though. Cocktails, wine and beer were good and bar staff attentive. There are plenty of sunbed loungers and parasols/trees around the pool and beach to sit in the shade (it gets really hot in February). The beach is ok but the pier looks awful, some parts of the barrier are broken as well. All activities (shows, pool exercises etc) are all in Spanish. Staff tried to speak English but often communication was difficult..."Google translate" helped. There’s plenty of parking. Overall quite disappointing for the price we paid.

We were so excited for our "dream vacation in Costa Rica". Upon arrival, we found the condition of the property in great need of maintenance. Dirty, missing caulking, Poor Television quality, uncomfortable beds, ants everywhere. The staff were all kind and courteous, although none to very limited English speaking abilities. There was a buffet available without a reservation but the food was horrible. The only palatable food I could find was scrambled eggs, fruit, yogurt and green juice. For dinner, the only palatable food I had was a hamburger. We paid an extra $30 per person for the lobster, which we were not able to eat as it was overcooked and had awful seasonings. I probably had 3 bites, trying to find a good spot but found none. The remainder of the dinners, both buffet and restaurant, I was unable to eat more than a few bites as they were horrible. All this, and we were in the premium section. The drinks were also horrible, super syrupy . Tried many different ones and still were awful

Not at all worth it, and a bit scammy
We've stayed at a good handful of all-inclusives over the years, and always felt lucky that we managed to avoid the scammy, cheesy resorts that we'd always hear about. Unfortunately, it finally happened to us here at La Fiesta. Among the bummers of having spent so much money and 2 out of the precious 6 nights of our Costa Rica ravaction here were: 1) The room. We had a "Fiesta 1 King Bed" and arrived to find all the drawers askew (not like someone had gone through them, more like the floor is uneven and they can't stay closed), the fridge nearly toppling over (same reason), a non-working phone (I contacted the front desk via Whatsapp to ask if it was actually supposed to be plugged in and working and they said they'd have maintenance come fix it; never happened), a glass with a huge crack in it, and zero towels in the room at all. 2) The food. They don't tell you this when you book the room, and shockingly they don't even tell you this when you check in, but in order to eat at any of the restaurants besides the buffet, you need to make a reservation over 24 hours in advance. So even by the time we checked in on Thursday, reservations for that night were already booked, and we were only able to eat in one of the restaurants for ONE out of the 5 meals we were there for. That meant a LOT of meals spent at the exact same buffet, which was truly a bummer. (Not enough room here for the rest, so see Google for my full review.)

We were placed in an outdated first floor room by the laundry area. The room was outdated and not very clean. We had no towels in our room and the phone were not working so I had to hunt down a staff. The drinks were terrible as well as the food.

We overall had an ok time during our 3 night stay. We got a jr honeymoon suite. There were no bath towels when we got to our room and we had to wait for them to be delivered. Some friends we stayed with didnt have blankets on their bed after check in and they also had to wait for them to be delievered. Our room was a nice size but it smelled like mildew and there was visible mold on the shower curtain and bathroom mirror. The dining options were good, the gift store was great! It is a little difficult to communicate with staff if your spanish isnt good. Review would be better if the room was ready upon check in and generally cleaner.

property is beautiful and well maintained. Rooms need some updating. We loved our lst floor room in building 1. Loved our patio off our room in the AM. Our room was cleaned daily and we loved the towel art. We're disappointed there was not a refrigerator. Nice snack bar with good food No Ala cart restaurants for lunch unless you are preferred. wine only seems to be available at the restaurants plenty of chairs, the ones by the pool go quickly in the morning, but their are lots of great chairs These servers helped make our visit extra special. Wll great server at both maconda and mamacarela. Richard and Michael at the Bar, And Mike at the swim up. Arnold the nighttime manager was very friendly and helpful Restaurants: Mamacarela outdoor, but we were very warm. The cooking is done near the seating. Offered seafood with was good but over cooked. We enjoyed the evening. This is the preferred restaurant for breakfast and lunch. Pelicano Italian has a larger menu and is a beautiful outdoor restaurant loved this restaurant. The food and service was very good. Maconda indoor restaurant with A/C. Great food and atmosphere. Buffet had good food. Lots of variety and very good service. Arnold the nighttime manager very nice and willing to listen! Beach bar was quick and efficient and made good drinks. The servers were friendly and helpful Swim up bar was usually very busy, but the servers were friendly, made good drinks. Nice bar in Building 1. loved the drinks!

The hotel was ok, multiple things were advertised and not available. The website states they offer shuttle service to/from San Jose airport for a fee, they do not. The dining options state 3 restaurants and a buffet, only 2 were available the week I was there and limited reservations. The menus at the restaurants were the same every day and while there a week got very old. While I know going to a Spanish speaking country to expect communication challenges, at the resort it should not have been so difficult. All the activities were in Spanish including pool activities when offered , water aerobics and shows. One bar for the evenings opened but you could only get a drink if in a seat because drinks were served in glasses, if none available you had to walk across the resort to the pool bar. The rooms were in need of repairs, ceiling fan didn’t work, outlets didn’t work, temperature would not go below 24 degrees Celsius, to name a few. The staff at Macondo was excellent and the food great. Pool bar staff was fabulous and anticipated your drink and recognized you.
