Staff we engaged with were obliging and friendly. Food not up to scratch
Check in was simple, took few minutes. Reception is inside the pub/restaurant but was fine. Friendly receptionist. Room was clean, tidy, comfy bed, plenty of space, clean bathroom, quiet nights sleep
Room was tidy, but bathroom fan ran 24hrs a day which caused the bathroom to become cold and stay cold,
this also made the room cold and I had to place a towel along bottom of bathroom door to try and get some heat into the room, which stayed there. And there is a vent on the outside wall of room which was constantly forcing very cold air into the room, which had to have its vent forcibly closed.
The room was clean, with comfortable beds and the bathroom was very clean with new-looking modern fittings.
The only thing that was a bit off was they didn’t serve any breakfast on Christmas Day but there was no mention of this when I booked and the restaurant was open later for dinner. Nowhere else was open, so no breakfast. Today was the 2nd day of our stay and we had a lovely breakfast.
Since my last stay, like everywhere else, prices have risen dramatically. Especially in the case of the food which wouldn’t be so bad, but the standard of the food has also dropped compared to other Marstons. Very disappointed.
Lots of spiders in our room and as we were only given one key card, one of us couldn't stay in the room while the other left. As the cards controlled the lights.
This is a convenient stop. It’s not fancy and it’s not centrally placed to many things, but it was convenient, clean, comfortable, and well priced. Nothing is far. I was impressed by the value for money, and I am pretty sure I’ll keep Marston’s on my list.
The room was not clean a brown stain on bathroom floor, lots of dust, contemporary tray had broken biscuits, 1 of the cups was dirty glad we only stayed 1 night
Our room smelled of sick and there was evidence of this on the wall next to bed. Carpet had been cleaned, but still damp.
Staff in restaurant were very nice & meal too.
We were very happy with our stay. One adult and 2 children. We all had separate beds. We usually have to share even in family rooms. Beds were very comfy. Only down side was it was slightly further away from Dunbar than I had thought, which just made us get our steps up as was walkable. (Probs lay too far for young kids) There was also a bus stop outside that could have taken us into Dunbar.
